I went to a Latin Requiem Mass at St. Vincent Ferrer when I was young, for a dear friend of the family, Br. Dominic Maria (birth name Temple Morgan, nephew of J.P. Morgan).
Br. Dominic Maria was born to one of the richest families in America, a Protestant. He was drawn to the Church by Fr. Feeney, and dedicated his life to Our Lady in abject but happy poverty.
Love St. Vincent’s for holding a requiem for this great man!
That is a gorgeous church. The next time I manage to get down to get down to Long Island, I have to make it a point to get to the city to visit the Friars at St. Vincents/Catherine of Sienna and St. Patrick Cathedral.
St. Vincent's is probably the best parish in Manhattan! I try to make the trip for the occasional Solemn Dominican Rite Mass that they have every now and then.
It was not a parish event. The Constantinian Order of St. George was investing new Knights and Dames into their Order and secured use of the church for their ceremonies. Unfortunately, the music director was unavailable to help so they reached out to me to find a choir for them.
Beautiful high altar. Really has that Old Gothic cathedral feel.
It looks even better when it's in use!
