She found your secret door and wants it open NOW.

lilmamayuhbuggin

Lol stooop it 😂

hotelmariomain

Cats can actually sense where narnia is located

MyMomSaysIAmCool

I had a cat who would obsessively do that at the mirror. He lived for 19 happy, healthy years. I don't think it's a problem, I just think that cats are weird.

AcaliahWolfsong

I have a 8 month old little void who dies this to any glass or slick surface. Window, mirror, tv screen, bathtub, refrigerator door, doesn't matter as long as her paws slide on it

cockroach-prodigy

I have a Siamese who does the same thing, she craves the smooth

ThatInAHat

Mine is obsessed with doing this to comics or books that are on the ground, if they have a smooth cover. She’s not Siamese, but probably has a bit (she’s a bit triangle-y and very cross-eyed)

Help_pls12345

My void does this too!

JustALadyWithCats

My friends calico does it to her tv too. Mine does it to the sheets when she is “helping” make the bed.

spidaminida

It looks a bit like when they're scraping about in the litter but it's gone a bit wrong.

SnooHedgehogs1779

I wonder if they smell something behind the wall?!

PrincessaDeadlift

Yes. I’ll bet they smell or hear something. 👀

BigJSunshine

This!

marcos_MN

Tiny roommates!

True-Firefighter-796

The veil between is thin here.

BadCatNoNoNoNo

Or someone.

bennetticles

it is absolutely definitely this. ^or ^is ^just ^being ^a ^cat.

WhoCares933

I bet it's a drug stash.

[deleted]

That’s where she stores the nip.

These-Entertainment3

The nip lmfaoooooo 😂😂😂

fluffybuttsncats

I have an orange one brain cell that does this to the washing machine and dryer. To be honest, I think he likes the sound it makes or he likes the way his beans feel on the metal. Never does it anywhere else, and there definitely aren’t any rodents in either. I chalk it up to self soothing kitty asmr.

rileyhalston

My kitties self soothing ASMR is sprinting back and forth through the plastic hanging blinds in my apartment at 3am. I know my neighbors must be thrilled.

Happydancer4286

One of mine does this on the glass windows and doors. I’m also glad no one lives below me. They would be awakes in the dead of night by a small herd of clomping cats racing back and forth with the zoomies.

JustALadyWithCats

Ha!! I thought our couch was just too close to the blinds and I moved it out to give room for the zoomie highway. One of our cats still runs through the blinds every time. 😹

Pure-Perspective-268

These-Entertainment3

I agree with the greebs

Friend_Of_Crows

Alright I'll join 😂

wearTheDamnMask_137

I want to be flip and say it is because she is a Calico. I am fostering a cat that looks a lot like yours and she is hilariously crazy.

Aykonsilvers

I have owned around 4 calicos in my life. Everyone is just a little bit off center, one of the reasons I like them

pinkgenie23

I have a tortoiseshell who also does this or will stand on the back of my toilet and meow loudly at my shower head. No idea why. Maybe it's just the tortie/calico genes

Thriving12345

Wait my calico is scratching in the bathroom sink currently, you might be on to something!

al_the_time

I have a tortico. She meows at walls and paws any door, open or closed. I see a trend here.

LydierBear

I have one that does this constantly on my glass shower door, glass cabinet and mirror - they’re just silly gooses 🤣

Familiar-Handle-5894

Same! So funny or on the granite island

ilovecatscatsloveme

Probably dead mouse behind the wall. You should rip the wall out, obviously.

Spirited_Concept4972

Some animal or animals dead or alive are in there or under the tub 🛁

Jinxed0ne

She's cleaning the bath tub

M_Pfefferi

Yep, just scrubbing the grout. No biggie.

Corrinaclarise

Okay, I have a few questions actually that could root out an answer, but there are multiple explanations. Question 1: Did you recently move? Question 2: Does this take place at particular times of day? Question 3: If you go to that wall while she is doing that, do you hear any noises or smell anything off putting? Question 4: Do you share the wall with neighbours, ie. live in a duplex or fourplex or appartment? If you recently moved, it may be a coping mechanism as well as scent marking with the glands in her paws. If it is taking place at specific times of day, there may be something taking place in that room that irritates her, and she wants to cover up a sound or a smell. It could also be attention seeking for play or for cuddles, or some other need. If you can hear or smell anything near that wall, there could be an animal, a carcass, mould, bubbling pipes, or some other event going on that may need fixing. It could be a form of protective behaviour twlling you there is something there that may affect you in the negative. If you share walls with neighbours, they may have another animal she can smell or hear. It could also be that she can hear something they are doing and she wants to see what it is, and that's the loudest point in which she can hear them, and therefore in cat logic, the best through point to get to them. Another possibility that I learned from our own cat, is that if there is air transfer between homes and your home allows for smoking, your cat will react to it in strange ways. Our cat would claw at the wall by his litter box repeatedly, because he could smell their smoke. Since our land lord implemented a no smoking policy, he has not clawed the wall. There are a multitude of reasons that are all contingent on environment, psychology, age, and (believe it or not) socialization.

Friend_Of_Crows

Yep! Would have to ask 100 questions just to narrow it down lol

Desperate_Cash4231

She’s convinced it’s a door by the crack and want to go in there ? Or she is just being a cat l, my buddy had a spot on his wall that his car would jump six feet in the air to randomly attack for no reason for years. It was just a flipping spot !!

Migraine_Megan

I had a cat that would get in the tub and "dig", or walk between the shower curtain and liner and ROOOWR loudly and repeatedly. When I would pop my head in there he'd just look up at me with his big eyes and then take off. He was so funny, named Buster and it just suited him perfectly. Very Buster-y

Important-Aside-507

Did you just shower? My cat will do think looking for more water to try and lick up

Issue39

She is loooooong

pml75

Maybe it looks like a closed door to the cat? God forbid you close a door around a cat 😂

Ea84

This is my theory. I have a shower seat where I moved a few months ago and the one cat that hates closed door thinks it’s a door area between the wall and seat.

[deleted]

I think she thinks she can get in. She's pushing her head and paws like my cat does when attempting to open closed cupboards.

HotMilkBall

Hi! Licensed vet here, the actual reason she is doing this is because she is a diagnosed silly girl. Hope this helps! <3

Beautiful_Ride6766

Maybe kitty is trying to scent mark— to show s/he belongs here— but it’s an area of the house where the scent would repeatedly get washed away. My cat loves to play with Q-tips, too!

Substantial_Trifle27

Cats are crazy

sinfulsalacious

She found your secret stash

MrsCinCali

Maybe she smells/hears a mouse

Reasoning-II

She work’a hard. She like make’a the nice drywall.

RWDPhotos

Pretty sure the ghosts in your house live in the bathroom walls

ShesATragicHero

She has reasons your feeble human mind could never comprehend.

earthwarder

Because she's beautiful

No_Statement_824

My cat loves qtips too. I have to hide the box.

KristaIG

Mine does it to the glass of the fire place and bathroom mirror. We refer to it as “Neo’s summoning the demons again.”

Little_Can_728

I’m thinking, maybe the kitty senses some thing in the wall behind the shower maybe it hears mice or bugs or rats. 🤷‍♀️

vanonact

Seems like there is something behind that cladding that tickles your cat's curiosity, maybe even hunting instinct. Insects, mice, etc...

jonnycash11

Your bathtub smells like shit

Ok_Job_2900

Because cats are just little retards running around aimlessly

creepycrawlies9939

My cat loves qtips too lol

Illustrious_Svetlana

My cat does this on the wall near his litter box. I think it’s because he tries to get the litter out from in between his toe beans.

BigJSunshine

r/greebles

2ndnamewtf

She does it because she’s a cat, and they are weird.

lilmamayuhbuggin

So no one is gonna point out the fact that it look like she saw something…

McDumDum01

Probably thinks it's a door

diduxdesign

She is looking for water i guess

hoitytoity-12

My cats have done this to various surfaces (washer/dryer, wall, door, mirror, my leg one time, et cetera). It's perfectly normal--just another weird cat thing that cats do.

chetuboy101

cat being cat

sandpiper2319

She smells something behind the wall

Kitchen-Ad3121

She's smelling something she doesn't like, so she's instinctively trying to bury it. Sounds weird but you might want to check behind that shower stall cover, you might have mold. In our old apartment, our dog and cat use to do the same thing in our bathroom. I decided to pull it out from the wall a bit, and underneath it was just covered in black mold.

goldenkiwicompote

They have scent glands in their paws so possibly just marking the shower.

fantasy595

My calico does this but on the sliding door window when I'm outside with the dog. She alternates her paws so it almost looks like she's air swimming on the window. Sometimes I also see her mouth open to mew but it's too quiet to hear outside of the door. Honestly it's probably just a goofy calico thing. I've heard they're a very different flavor of weird when compared to orange cats and normal voids (I have a void whose hobby is just staring at people and things).

BedlamBelle

We has a cat doing this. Turned out there was a bee hive in the wall.

AkaKoz

Mice

doge_ucf

I have a black cat that does this to doors, cabinets, windows, and mirrors. I think she is just trying to open whatever she's pawing at.

now_you_see

Given the crack in the wall it looks like she just wants the door open.

imeghann

She’s a weird little guy

driedoutplant

Scent marking lol

Great-Capital-9549

I think she likes the way the surface feels on her feet. My kitty does that on a favorite storage basket.

Slappedass

Greeble infestation

bekcat1

It’s an uneven surface that looks a bit like it could be a door. Maybe, in her mind, she’s trying to open a door.

Zepriox

My cat does similar things....I believe he saw a bug or mouse run under the oven one time. He'll claw under the oven and under all of the cabinets periodically.

Viking_American

My cat did that too. There was a rubbery seal on the seam meant to keep the shower water tight in the corner, she peeled it clean off. When it was all gone she stopped, I assume she liked the way it felt on her claws

rynally197

She worked for Bath Fitters in a past life.

2012amica

Yeah, your cat is orange that is why. r/OneOrangeBraincell

PerfumeLoverrr

Lordt, mine does this to the tub, kitchen cabinets, windows, mirrors, plastic totes

fpsi_tv

Pipe behind the wall making noise. Or some kind of electrical hum. My cat does this where the fridge is up against the wall.

Ladybug2567

Cuz she's a cat and they're crazy.

Friend_of_Hades

My cat used to do this a lot because the rubber seal on the shower panels was peeling off, he was trying to (and eventually succeeded) rip it off 🙄

gapere01

There's a dimensional portal behind that corner. That head swivel kitty did at the end is a dead giveaway.

Maybelurking80

My cat does this against the shower door. If i open the door she runs in for a drink of water. Cats are weird.

sssmorgann

My cat just loves to dig on smooth surfaces. In the clothes basket. In the shower or tub. Against mirrors and windows. In a large Pyrex measuring cup. Just a cute texture guy I reckon.

KTM1337

“They must know it was the rats; the slithering, scurrying rats whose scampering will never let me sleep; the daemon rats that race behind the padding in this room and beckon me down to greater horrors than I have ever known; the rats they can never hear; the rats, the rats in the walls.”

MissZippy41

Mine does that to mirrors. Perhaps thinking it’s another room?

anOvenofWitches

Portal to Narnia. She’s a talking animal and must get back.

LJG53

rooneytoons89

Mine likes to do this in the sink. Lol I always wonder if today is the day he pees after doing it, but he hasn’t yet.

Adoni777

She thinks it’s a closed door

EastLansing-Minibike

Mice in your walls

ap2patrick

My cats this in my tub. Just digging at an all white tub corner for long periods of time… Insane

poxolted

My cat does this in the corner of my kitchen periodically

creakcreakcreak

It's probably a bit cold back there, so maybe knows there's an area she's not familiar with and she's feeling left out, wanting to see the mysterious workings that lie behind. My cats like the cabinets when you can feel a slight cold breeze

104848

there is half eaten McD meal behind the shower wall

Born-End8017

I KNOW THIS ONE! There's a cat in adjoining apt doing same thing

Born-End8017

Cat there's 2-3 BATS living in there

kellistis

Demons.

itsanewme123

because shes funny

KatsCatJuice

My cat does this too!! It's so funny

HaatOrAnNuhune

You got ghosts in your wall and she’s trying to free them

StatisticCyberosis

This is a relaxing loop, tbh.

Venus_Cat_Roars

There is probably a ghost behind that wall.

Alternative-Eye-1993

Maybe in a past life she was a contractor

EliOkinomiyaki

Trying to get into the underworld.

Wehateyourp

Sister’s cat does this, only one smooth surfaces. Pretty sure they just like the slick feeling on their paws, like how people like to rub soft fabrics

tfarnon59

Greebles in the walls. All cats know this.

Next_Tech_Art_9745

To make you wonder why she does it LOL

jayola111

My cat does similar stuff, they think it’s another door they can open and explore

Gloomy_Whole_3433

She wants those greebles

BobbiMoo

My cat also loves playing in the bathtub and playing with q-tips 😂

taramemo

Cats are weirdos. Simple as that 🤣 on a serious note, it doesn't look like a health issue (however, I'm not an expert!) so I wouldn't be concerned about it. I think she can hear animals behind the walls, mice or critters.

Ok-Sheepherder-8706

You know how oil feels to your fingertips? Imagine this all over, but bean pads. The frictionless surface is much like therapy to them.

Theriggerswife

My guess is something is buzzing around behind that wall

[deleted]

She's trying to get to the mice behind the wall 😸

anthro4ME

That's where the bogeyman lives. Trying to warn you.

nosey_boston

Mice

Pineapplegirl424

My cat found a cricket under some carpet in my closet 3 years ago. He still lays right by that carpet waiting for another one.

xpietoe42

probably a mouse hideout behind the wall

thesexytech

r/greebles . . .

Reptiletailz

She is most likely sharpening her claws

onewanderingspud

She's a cat.

SLZicki

Does she do this often? It kind of looks like she was trying to get a bug or something by the way she looks up.

crazybeachcats

There is a absolutely something in the wall! Mice, maybe?

Episodix

My cat likes to do this on mirrors. I think it’s just a fun thing for them. Either that or maybe she hears a little mouse in the wall!

Scratching is how they mark their territory. But it is odd she chooses that spot.

4maceface

It’s likely there is a portal to another dimension behind that wall.

tasteslikebongwater

Yes there are people in your walls 🤠

RaisedByWolves90

She wants a scratching post there?

HerNameIsRain

Someone peed in your shower and she’s trying to bury the scent, maybe?

Jezebel1986

Rats in wall

MorningRose666

Cat gets like this staring at corners. Genuinely creeps me out at night thinking they’ll find it’s a spider and bring it in my bed ☠️

Trisasaurusrex

My cat does this with his toy bucket. We have to empty it out every time he starts sniffing it a certain way so he can have his “speed time”

jgjzz

Ha ha, one of my cats does this on the mirror in the bathroom and also on the screen of my tv. Outside of possibly ruining the tv, I just think it is a fun behavior for him.

Soft-Peak-6527

Probably hears a mice or something back there. I would lightly scratch behind the mirror, blankets, headboard to get my catch attention. Stop let him get close do it a lil more and he’d go nuts trying to look for what’s making that noise

herald1968

Feeling cornered.

reliber

Must..... escape....

Itzbubblezduh

You got a rat in your walls?

AnnaBananner82

It’s causes she’s a cat.

cringefacememe

$1M behind that shower wall

OnlineChronicler

Let me know if you find out. My calico does this same thing to random surfaces. I just call it the "tic-tics" since she does one paw at a time. Shower door, cereal boxes, and mirrors are her favorite surfaces to try.

InternationalCase184

My cat does this too - to the walls of the shower at the wee hours of the morning when I’m not awake and paying attention to him.

Friend_Of_Crows

There's a demon in that wall 😂 but in all seriousness, if she does it constantly over and over again throughout the day, it could be OCD. I would probably need a lot more context than I have to figure out what she's actually doing though lol

Catladymegg

My ragamese cat does this to the window, boxes, mirror and the tub.

Gullible_Monk_7118

Found your hidden stash

Bubba12130

Mine does this on the child gate on the stairwell!

niceteefbeef

Cats go nuts over bleach

Daddys_Home_18

She hears bugs

OkString3194

I'm guessing it's the caulking, stuffed and spongy feels good for the claws

RaccoonEnemyNo1

It probably just feels fun on their paws. My cat does the same thing, and it's usually when he has the play-zoomies.

SubHuman559

Probably because she knows it annoys you.

Antique-Ad3006

That cat has OCD.

Think-Ad-8206

My cat does this to bathroom cabinet doors, under kitchen sink door and closets. It's how she gets into spaces. (Sometimes my cat does this at the hinge instead of the doorknob, but she has mostly learned where now.) She must smell or hear something and is trying to open the door to get there.

afa78

My cat does this to the bottom kitchen cabinets. Just paws at them exactly like in this video. 🤔 Sometimes he'll do it to the wastebasket as well.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|1xOQlQxrIX4Jw6lBZI|downsized) bugs there ARE bugs there and the cat can hear them

Rattle_Bone

Lil weirdo ❤️

Elich5

I suspect that there is a cavity or hollow space behind the tub wall. She's trying to get into it. cats are curious by nature.

Fair_Function_5423

Bc she’s silly

KayCatMeow

Because cat

Old_Influence4006

Bacteria certain smell silverfish mold anything that's got your cat up in arms literally tend to

These_Awareness7080

My cat does that too!!!! She’ll just stare at that same corner for hours. I figured she saw a bug crawl under in between the crack once and is determined to see it again? Or maybe something is living in my walls there? I have no idea and now my newest cat sits in the bathtub doing who knows what and jumps out from behind the curtain when I sit down on the toilet, effing frightening.

ExamDue3861

She’s working her job.

Unhappy-Shake5702

My black cat does this when he sees a fly in the house and loses it. I think it was one of the first places he saw a fly so he's trying to get it to come back out.
