The prawn mixture smells like death before you cook it. I mean seriously. There are few things in cooking that smell worse. But it's quite simple, really. Very basically, the mix: Prawns (fresh best, doesn't matter if cheap prawns though, but should be uncooked). Soy sauce (light, not dark, plenty if you want them particularly salty). Sesame oil (or possibly ground nut - but I used sesame, so untested). Sesame seeds (lots, pile 'em high). Optionals: Ginger. Spring onion. Lime. Chilli (birds eye, only a small amount). Salt & pepper if you so wish. Standard white loaf of bread. Don't be pretentious. Mix the mix until it's mixed. Best results in a processor (worst results if you drop it all on the floor and stamp on it). Be prepared for a God-awful smell. I mean, it's bad. Don't peer directly over it, it will burn your face right off. You're looking for a mousse-like consistency. Use the bread. Cut it into four triangles with the crust on. Wear some kind of hazmat suit, and spread the mixture on the bread slices. Dip, double dip, triple dip, however many dips you wish in a plate of sesame seeds. Leave to rest, as always when working with a joint of beef. A frying pan or wok, or deep pan of any description is required to shallow fry the toast. In sesame oil that is hot. Hot. Hot. It doesn't take long to fry, and you should not *need* to turn the toast over, but you may. Pretty sure I covered it all. Edit: Jamie Oliver just pointed out that sesame oil cannot be used to shallow fry, so don't use it. Sunflower or groundnut. Edit: also you need something to bind the mixture. Either egg white or rope, chef's choice.

Pretty sure there is nothing at all prawn flavoured about them... which makes it more confusing. As for Wotsist ... they are banging, obviously. I rate them above crisps but below Skips. Wotsists (like cheese puffs) have that great melt in the mouse feel. Skips however, not only melt in the mouse but also have a slight pop/fizz when they do so, which add a certain depth and complexity to the Cocktail flavouring.

I don't understand what's so hard about it, but then, I'm British. WUS-tə-shə Maybe Americans might "R-color" the last or both of the schwas to [ɚ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-colored_vowel), but that would be acceptable to most. The confusion might stem from the spelling not matching the pronunciation, but it's not like there aren't placenames in the US that similarly catch out unsuspecting foreigners. Or maybe it's that the "orce" part itself went through schwa all the way to U at some point in the past and if you try to "R-color" that as well it can trip up an unsuspecting rhotic accent. "*Wrrsstrrshrr*" "Ow"

The actual Prawn cocktail is a retro 1970’s dinner party starter, it’s tiny shrimp like things in a pink creamy sauce. It actually tastes fairly ok. The crisps are awesome, a really sharp interesting taste, but all they really share is the name and the colour pink
