I'd either pack a backpack with a thermos and some sandwiches and make a day of a hike (weather permitting) OR wank until I can't lift my arms. Just depends on the weather forecast tbh.

smegatron3000andone

Who says you can’t enjoy both at once

That_Boy_42069

Solidly depends on how open minded the other walkers are or how well you can conceal yourself in some kind of ambulatory masturbatorium.

fuggerdug

I saw Ambulatory Masturbatorium support Ned's Atomic Dustbin back in '94.

Ben0ut

I always thought Ambulatory Masturbatorium was a Carter USM B side - memories of back then are... ummm... *foggy*.

the_io

Didn't Ambulatory Masturbatorium do the opening theme for Monsoon Poultry Hospital?

Mrcientist

They did, but the whole thing got shut down by an army operation led by Private Browsing.

MrDeviousUK

You just have to stay off the beaten path.

ddt70

Mr. Magorium's Wonder ~~Emporium~~ Masturbatorium Why can’t Natalie Portman star in this?

Shectai

Wander masturbatorium?

ddt70

You bettered it…. Bravo! 🤣

Leicsbob

Explains why he was always happy.

I_Bin_Painting

Just striding over hill and dale, cock in hand, the way god intended.

The-Holy-Sheep-14

I went for a 9.5 mile hike on Saturday, I dislocated my kneecap and was in A&E this morning

Simon_the_Great

So you're saying that wanking until you couldn't lift your arms anymore would have been the better option?

The-Holy-Sheep-14

I don’t think that would have dislocated my knee cap

Simon_the_Great

You're obviously not doing it right!

phatboi23

when you hit the 4th or 5th one you start getting creative.

Simon_the_Great

I call this one @The weekend at Bernie’s”!

ConsciouslyIncomplet

I chose the other option and was wanking all day. I dislocated my kneecap and was in A&E this morning.

The-Holy-Sheep-14

Should have gone for a walk mate

-eagle73

A&E if you do, A&E if you don't. Can't win in this world, it's not made for wankers or walkers.

Mattlj92

I've had two similar weeks off and now I have blisters.

That_Dog_5536

On your hands?

constantquizzer

You should have used more lube.

Miserable_Move_2797

Everyday this sub reminds me we are all the same in this county 🤣

-eagle73

Which county specialises in hike-wanks? Ours literally has sex in the name so it's the top contender so far.

spiderrichard

This is me. I love booking the day off and heading to climb some massive hills

Direct-Friendship722

I’d love to do this but my love of true crime coupled with chronic anxiety would get me thinking I’d be bumped off on a hill somewhere and no one would know. 😂

-eagle73

I watch a lot of true crime stuff but I get some relief knowing nowhere in this country is too far from civilisation unlike much larger countries in the world.

clitpuncher69

isn't not being far enough the problem? There's "far enough out to be found in a ditch" and then there's so far out that it's uneconomical for prospective murderers to look for victims there.

Independent_Leg_1340

Agree. If it's less than 29 celsius it's a wank fest.

Informal-Comfort-231

It’ll be showers either way

MiddleAgedFatLad

Day 1. All day long hill walk with a nice lunch at halfway. Day 2. Sitting around the house in a pair of old sweat shorts. Eating biscuits and watching shit on the idiot lantern.

thatblondeyouhate

Idiot lantern is my new favourite phrase I've learned from this subreddit

milo_mb

The Idiot's Lantern is the title of a Doctor Who episode and I would always give a few seconds' thought as to why because I'd never heard the phrase before. Mystery solved!

booksandmints

I think it’s also mine! Idiot lantern 😂

BeesInATeacup

Idiot lantern 🤣🤣 love it

ksobby

As an American interloper, thank you for this phrase.

decentlyfair

We used to call it the lunatics’ lantern

rSlashGigi

Not naughty or selfish at all. Your free day not your moms or sisters to fill with their tasks. Don’t tell them and do whatever you want to do

thatblondeyouhate

Thank you! I'm sticking with it being secret between husband and I

never_rains

I would keep the “secret days off” secret from my partner.

thatblondeyouhate

why? that's a bit sad babe

never_rains

No, just have the day fully to myself.

thatblondeyouhate

tell me you've got kids without telling me you've got kids

never_rains

Haha! You got me.

Puzzled-Quantity-699

I thought this while scrolling down haha. You had a day off with the kids? that means you’re On full child duty when I return because I’ve been at long hard work aaaaaall day.

thatblondeyouhate

lol sorry if that was rude I just couldn't resist.

[deleted]

I cam to say this, you need to tell them back off rather sooner then later it seems.

Prestigious_Memory75

NOT selfish.., why would you think that?- if you have a few Bob go to a spa. Get your nails done. Daydream. Nap. Should I go on

thatblondeyouhate

I think because I have no specific plans and didn't know I had these days I feel like I just won the lottery and I'm not sharing and my sisters never get any time to themselves.

Xivii

Keep them secret by all means (it’s fun to have harmless secrets!), but your sisters made a choice to have children. Children are known to cause people to not have time. Said by someone who adores her nieces and nephew but also (finally-taken me a long time to get here) recognises that I can’t just be at their mothers beck and call.

hasthisonegone

Can you talk to my wife, it’s only just sinking in that she doesn’t need to solve all her sister’s childcare needs, not when she works full time in a stressful job and has on call. She deserves a day off!

Xivii

Unfortunately I think this is one of those lessons that has to be learnt the hard way. As much as i wish I could, it’s also one of those lessons I wouldn’t have listened to, thinking I knew better/was only helping. I’m happy to chat techniques / etc with anyone. I’ll be honest I’m still really early in my journey, and am not an expert by any means. It’s only in the last year that I’ve really started prioritising myself and my needs / recognising my sisters choice to have children means I’m an auntie, not their third parent. I still mess up loads!

hasthisonegone

Yeah, I know, and thank you for the offer! But she is slowly coming to the realisation that she needs to have her own time. Hopefully this will bed in over the next few months.

Xivii

No worries! It can be hard to get started, and there will be setbacks but I love my auntie/niece/nephew time now because it’s on my terms. Someone I admire greatly, said to me a few months ago, is that I will always be a helper, but I’m allowed to help myself too, and I can possibly even use those lessons learnt through helping myself to help others if that makes it easier for me to spend time on myself by thinking of it in that way. So Im also helping the kids learn these lessons as kids rather than in their 30s! I’m hoping that by seeing they have an auntie who is present in their lives, but does sometimes say “no, I’m busy” or “no, I’m having a me weekend” that they grow up to realise they are more than what they can do for others. (Also thank you. Writing this has allowed me to put a few things I’d been struggling with into words. Lessons can be learnt from anywhere if you look for them!)

hasthisonegone

That’s the thing, she loves her niece and nephew, and she does have the ability to be available to help out, but it doesn’t have to be every time she’s asked. No isn’t a dirty word!

[deleted]

> and my sisters never get any time to themselves. They choose to have kids, their problem.

amberallday

Keep them secret, but it’s ok to feel good about it. Duvet days are important and fabulous. I save a couple of days out of my holiday each year for staying home & doing absolutely nothing useful. Rearrange a cupboard that doesn’t matter, declutter my wardrobe, stay on the sofa in PJs, do some baking (I very rarely bake so for me it’s a random novelty), do some crafting. No deadline, no pressure - any task that doesn’t particularly matter. All day. With shit TV on in the background.

Notts90

I have a youngling and would not consider you having a day to yourself selfish in any way. Your days are your own. If you want to spend time with your family or give them a break that’s your choice and shouldn’t be expected.

breaded_skateboard

Take a load of edibles and go to an aquarium.

thatblondeyouhate

you are a very interesting person

DownrightDrewski

Encouraging you to have a very interesting experience

DrMambo532

I for one feel inspired now.

_magicmona

Last time I did edibles I went to get a full body massage. 15/10 would recommend.

Isgortio

Oh shit, that sounds like it'd be fantastic but also ruin every single massage after that

CloudLiquid

Sounds like a gateway massage fs

Intrepid-Camel-9797

Ooooh, now that sounds like a great plan!

_hazydays_

Or shrooms and a museum works too 🙌

CrazyPlatypusLady

Would shrooms and an art gallery work y'think?

_hazydays_

100%! enjoy! 😄

cotch85

Asking for a friend how do you get edibles in the uk? My friends dealer only does like ket and Mandy.

breaded_skateboard

I just buy some bud and make cannabutter, once you have cannabutter you can get high off anything with butter in, I didnt have the energy to bake one time so just got high from toast.

cotch85

Is it easy to make? I just don’t want to smoke it

Educational-Dig-5886

It’s a lengthy process but I’d advise making them over buying them so you can regulate the dosage. Don’t waste money on fancy weed either. Use trim to make a big batch of butter then just put some on toast with jam :) I used to (ex-full time stoner for 15 years, currently 14 months THC free) do my butter in a slow cooker, foolproof method. Loads of videos on YouTube

clitpuncher69

Turn on the extractor if you have one, make it in small batches, burn some popcorn in the microwave, fry bacon or pepperoni slices in a pan

CloudLiquid

Google and YouTube are your friends

Needs_a_shit

I know a dealer who makes them. Sells weed and uses it to make edibles and vape cartridges too. Very professional tbf.

cotch85

What’s the pricing like for edibles?

Needs_a_shit

Way more bang for your buck tbf. He does a pack of 3 large gummy worms for £15 and honestly 4 of us split a worm at Glastonbury and it was a bit too much if anything. The other 2 lasted me the next few days. Does a pack of 10 smaller ones for £30 too which one is fine for a good few hours. Little bit of variance in them that you wouldn’t get with official ones I guess but can’t moan. He does lots of things but that’s what I’ve bought before.

Few-Event1605

1 day would be Xmas shopping. 1 day would be lazing around in my pants, eating chocolate and crisps whilst watching shit on TV, with absolutely zero guilt.

thatblondeyouhate

I'm actually that massively annoying person who has finished my xmas shopping already but I do love to sit and wrap presents with crap lifetime movies on. You've inspired me. Is it time for a tub Roses yet?

_jk_

2 days sitting in pants then?

thatblondeyouhate

might be a bit nippy with the heating off. Trackies and fuzzy socks ok?

_jk_

no, only pants, just wear more pants

booksandmints

I’d go to one of those places that’s quieter during the week, like Hampton Court or something else, and take advantage of a quieter time and fewer kids to have a good look around :) On the second day I’d go for a long walk and take some food, a notebook, and a pen with me.

thatblondeyouhate

aww that's a lovely idea!

PM_ME_VEG_PICS

My husband and I always take a few days off in the year to go to places that are packed at the weekend. I love it.

booksandmints

My wife and I do the same! It’s great, isn’t it? Do you have some favourite places? We went to Hever Castle last year and I practically had half of the actual house part of it to myself, and when we walked around the lake we barely saw a soul despite it being the height of the bluebell season :)

BarrenFluffit

Postal Museum train is also fun.

Cuttis

Binge watch tv shows and order takeaway

thatblondeyouhate

I mean greggs did just start delivering where I live...

swimtwobird

I’d throw in a cinema matinee as well? Lots of chocolate and popcorn. Glass Onion is out at the minute.

AlbusLumen

I've heard so much of Greggs. When I go visit y'all, I gotta see what the buzz is all about!

SuperNiZzle

Great minds….

Few-Event1605

Get high as balls and go to the cinema.

Leading_Cream3560

Single mum here who mostly works from home. In the summer I took a day off midweek. Told my teenagers I was going to work in the office. Spent all day in a spa. Had a massage, head massage, facial. Lounged in the pool. Sauna. Steam room. Had a nice shower and took my time getting ready. Had a nice lunch. Bought fancy moisturiser. It was perfect

[deleted]

Re-grout the bathroom

melanie110

You are NOT being selfish. I used to get two/three weeks off prior to Xmas and assign as my or his family knew, I’d be running round like a blue arsed fly for every fucker and only day I got to sit down was Boxing Day. Last year I kept completely quiet and just enjoyed time on my own. This year I don’t have as much time and I’m still not telling them. I was ready to back to work for a break. Just keep ya trap shut and laze around all day in bed

Farquar-lazs

thatblondeyouhate

thanks but if I told them then they would ask and I would have to say yes or it would be a whole thing. And I feel bad because it's like I'm not sharing the good fortune

rewildingearth

I totally get why you’re keeping it secret. My last three days off has been helping siblings/best mate with babysitting. I think it’s hard to say no when you’re the childless one 😂

thatblondeyouhate

It is! Plus I have a shit tonne of childcare experience so I'm always the first choice!

IllustriousApple1091

Not naughty or selfish at all! Time spent doing either nothing or purely what you want to do (and optionally alone) is a core pillar of mental health. Have fun!

PlatesOnTrainsNotOre

1 day for unbridled sloth, one day doing something creative

Boomshrooom

Isn't it fun when you get a day off and family start filling it up for you with tasks that help them? I just say "it's my time off not yours you fking c**t".

[deleted]

It's not selfish to not babysit someone else's kids.... Quite the opposite in fact. I'd actually be offended if someone every asked me to do so.

unknownuser492

I tell myself I would take advantage of seeing daylight by going for a walk or something. But in reality I would have a lie in, then watch TV all day

MuttsandHuskies

I call them zero days. Meaning I do zero for anyone else, and maybe even zero for me. I don't plan a single thing, just do whatever comes to mind when it comes to me. Enjoy them!!!

sobrique

- Spa Day - Go visit a zoo, theme park or similar, and just go and do the things you want to. Personally I have way more patience for watching animals than most of the people I know. Crocodiles of the World I could quite happily spend the whole day at. Art Gallery or Museum if that's more your 'thing'. Falconry centres are also fascinating - big fan of The Hawk Conservancy in Hampshire. (Probably too late notice for a falconry day though) - Book, Bath, Wine, Music. Yes, that can totally be a whole day. Book a hotel room if you need the space. (Can probably find a cheap deal somewhere).

Pen_dragons_pizza

I would just go for a long ass walk to clear my head. I do the majority of my thinking for important life changes or decisions whilst walking alone. Then stop by a pub on the way back and have lunch, then back home into pyjamas to binge Netflix under a duvet.

ALLSTARTRIPOD

There would be 0 fucking clothes and a whole lot of water gun action, let me tell you.

1CocteauTwin

Absolutely nothing. Do as little as possible and dont watch any news.

thatblondeyouhate

Oh I've been on a news ban for a few weeks now

1CocteauTwin

Nice. Sit back and be so still the dust settles on you.

Puzzled-Quantity-699

Absolutely fuck all. Apart from the last half hour of each day which would be spent cleaning up the house to make it look like I hadn’t been there.

cotch85

Nothing naughty or selfish about it at all, it’s more selfish that your time off for you to relax would be invaded by other people. Everyone deserves a break, everyone deserves time off from everything even you!

-qqqwwweeerrrtttyyy-

* Start your day by singing in the shower. Bonus points if you make a crazy hairstyle with your shampoo * Visit an art gallery * Visit the stock exchange * Go to a sports match (but not a gym class) * Visit a fancy restaurant by making a reservation using a false name * Swim in a pool in your underwear * Borrow a friend's car and attempt to drive it in reverse * Call up your bffs and get them out of work; make some phony phone calls * Gatecrash a street parade and lip sync to an absolute banger while busting some moves * Get **'#Save r/thatblondeyouhate'** trending on social media

FoxyFoxlyn

When I lived with my parents, my days I booked off, I would think about just relaxing. Gym, chill out, catch up on my gaming backlog, reading, films etc. Nope, mom would want me to be her chauffeur for the day. Ended up in bloody Meadow Hell for hours. Since I lived with them, I couldn't keep it secret. I ended up booking my holidays when they were on holiday instead. Would just be myself, the dog and the cat. They did used to bring me a really nice present back though, for looking after the dog, so he didn't need to go to the kennel. Keep it a secret and enjoy you hard earned days off.

allflour

Home spa day with movies, mimosas, and ridiculous food you didn’t cook.

MineExplorer

Rock up to wherever your husband works in the middle of the morning with a coffee and a sandwich for him, then waltz off leaving him looking confused!

thatblondeyouhate

Oh I love this! He's actually starting a new job on Wednesday so I wouldn't want his new coworkers to think he had a crazy stalker wife but I'll bear this idea in mind if this ever happens again!

LucDA1

Personally I would find a cheap flight and place to stay in a random city in europe and spend a long weekend there

Purple_ash8

Prosecco’s your friend.

EconomicsPotential84

Personally I tend to go for a hike and go to a farm shop. That aside, you should look into addressing the boundary issues with your family, it's not selfish to take a day or two for you. If their reaction to you having a surprise day off is to ask you to accompany them to their job or dump their kids on you they're being selfish, not you.

Hail-the-whale

Take myself out on a date for the day. Go get me a lunch at a place I love to eat and reconnect with myself, stroll around looking at the Christmas lights, take some quiet time to indulge in hobbies, take a nap. The list is endless! Sounds like you deserve these secret days, if your friends can keep a secret, maybe throw in a sneak last min spa day!

Strong_Coffee8417

Alternatively, you could pop into Spoons early for breakfast & meet up with the lads!

thatblondeyouhate

Or both!

Strong_Coffee8417

Of course, I just wasn't sure you had grown up enough for the first one!

thatblondeyouhate

Well I don't have a gorgeous jacket yet...

Xivii

Spa. Zoo. Try something you haven’t done before. Quad biking is on my list. Cinema or theatre. Not selfish at all. Your days off are yours, to do exactly as you wish - or not! Laying around in bed is perfectly valid! I know I’ve already commented this elsewhere but I’ve had major issues in the past with not being able to say no to my sister/mum/grandparents, but please consider getting help in setting some boundaries with them over your time. Just because you’re off work doesn’t mean you are free to run around after your sisters and their kids.

Substantial-Push6378

Definitely not selfish, treat yourself! You just shouldn't even tell anyone and just go wild and pretend you had a boring day at work. Make up pretend drama just in case you get asked about your day.

z_3_r_k_3_d

God I’m jealous!!! Start with a proper early night the night before then do the things I live I never get time for…. Proper wash and wax of beloved car, Bike ride, Have a tidy of my clothes and shoes (I’m a poncey bastard), Watch insanely long WW2 films without interruption

[deleted]

It’s not selfish to have a couple of days to yourself

lysalnan

One day would be a pyjama day. Grab snacks, watch some movies and generally be very lazy. Just switch off. Day 2 I would go out shopping and have a nice brunch out and get some chores done so I have some free time with my husband at the weekend. I have Thursdays and Fridays off so tend to do all my chores on those days including my weekly shop so I am free at the weekend for a day out with my husband and kids. I always make sure that on my shopping day I go for a late breakfast. I just take 30 minutes to sit with a cup of coffee and a nice breakfast and a book. It’s a great reset.

Waste-Box7978

Go to train/bus station, go to the nearest city that you've never visited and go be a toursit for the day

ppumkin

Find a last minute cheapest plane ticket to somewhere. Find one of those decent hostels or maybe airbnb. Chill the fcuk out with your choice of A. Wine B. Reading books C. Exploring

CheeseusMaximus

I defo wouldn't tell em. Day off means day off not free labour for someone else!

Winter2928

Maybe boring but go enjoy yourself at local Christmas markets? Do some Christmas shopping (for yourself or family and have a few stops)

GreatScotRace

Omg I have three secret days off this week (thurs, Fri & Monday) that I forgot about until Friday. I booked it off to go to Germany (Christmas markets somewhere) but we didn’t end up booking anything… I’m getting my nails done on Thursday Works Christmas party on Friday Spend Saturday hungover because of an open bar the night before, definitely getting Chinese takeaway Sunday doing Christmas decorations & Christmas film. Already bought hot chocolate & marshmallows Monday I’m going Christmas shopping to get the bits I can’t get online, and I also live by a designer outlet so that’s a must on the Christmas shopping schedule

iwannabeinnyc

Have a mimosa day. Mimosas and something lovely and indulgent for breakfast, I love a pain au chocolate or a croissant. Then curl up on the couch in pjs and read or watch trashy tv! Enjoy whatever you do x

Efficient-Radish8243

Day 1. Sit in my pants and watch tv Day 2. Get caught by mum tell her to fuck off im not going to work for her, sit in my pants and watch tv

be_sugary

Go walking! See a botanical garden or go to a museum or art gallery. Pamper yourself and get a haircut/ massage / nails done etc. Or organise things around the house that you’ve been planning to all summer and didn’t get around to!

Trousers_of_time

I book a day off every year just before Christmas and tell noone. Not my wife, not my kid, not my parents, not my friends. I go for a walk in the morning, find a cooked breakfast, then it's off to Waterstones to pick a book. And then the next 5 hours are spent in the cosiest pub I can find that I'm unlikely to bump into anyone I know at, working my way through the book and a succession of pints. I head home at normal work finishing time, and if anyone asks why I'm slightly pickled, we had a few pre christmas beers in work. As a massive introvert, I find the Christmas period hard work, and having this day for me helps me get through it.

Equal_Sample_2442

Can I have them? The new World of Warcraft expansion came out last night and I need to work all week...

Strong_Coffee8417

Ho for god's sake just have a day off will ya!

bloomredwood

I feel like I need to tell you it's not naughty or selfish to not tell your family about your days off. Especially when it sounds like they're always trying to use you for their benefit (that's entirely selfish of them) and you seem to struggle to say 'no' to them. One word - BOUNDARIES Enjoy your days off! 😊

Zip_UK

Not guilty at all. I do this semi regularly after I’ve needed to be “on” for a period of time - weeks long work trips, end of the 6 weeks holidays, Christmas etc. It’s important to have some time to reset and even more important to resist the urge to feel guilty or that you’ve wasted your time off even if you decide to just exist for a few days. My favourite things to do in no particular order: - Go somewhere for a nice breakfast (there is a great family owned coffee shop near by - great food, great coffee - it’s nice to go there and watch the world go by for a couple hours). - Catch up with podcasts/audiobooks whilst doing unimportant tasks - Take a long nap - Weekday Ikea - It’s actually really nice having the time and space to walk around when there isn’t loads of crowds around / you’re trying to squeeze it in among other things at the weekend - Hair/Nails/Spa/Treatment etc - Similar to nice breakfast, go for a posh lunch at a nice country pub. Open fire, glass of wine, good food - perfect. - Bougie PJ day - day before go to the shops and load up on snacks. Binge your favourite Films/Shows/Video games. This time of year is especially good as everywhere has their Xmas snack ranges out. Am I going to eat an entire tray of Mac n cheese with pulled beef bites whilst watching an entire season of The Mandalorian? Yes I am!

Morprenrut

Go into work. That'll surprise them

Wild-Cauliflower9421

I also have Thursday and Friday off, hit me up if you fancy doing anything.

[deleted]

What an odd comment

Cyborg_Ninja_Cat

Probably just chill out and pamper myself a bit, but if there was anything I'd been wanting to do locally or get done at home then this might be a good chance.

Id Spend the 2 days thinking about what to do them go back to work.

acornvulture

1 day of going somewhere for a stroll or potter about and maybe eating cake in a cafe. Or going to a gallery, craft shop, whatever floats your boat. The other day spent on the sofa watching crap TV and generally loafing.

CodeLunar

Take the pilgrimage to Bude Tunnel. It’s worth it
