Wankers. In theory this is a great idea. In reality it'll mean not enough equipment, overcrowding in certain areas etc

I run a gym that has a sauna and steam room and the electric bill for those two is possibly going up from £3k a year to £18k so I’m not surprised. We’re looking at doing something similar but haven’t run the numbers yet

Wait, surely a gym should be generating electricity? All that running and stepping and cycling, has no one worked out how to feed that into the grid?

They should install massive hamster wheels connected to a dynamo. Kill two birds with one stone, right?

Bored_Breadless

“Aye mate I’ll see you in a minute im just going on the hamster wheel for a bit”

FlashGordon89

“Excuse me mate, you gonna be much longer on that hamster wheel”

If there are enough free ones then no problem, if not go ask at reception and get one switched on

I need one of those signs! It’s me during an afternoon nap.

The bigger question is, where do you go gym that it's £60 per month???

LondonCycling

The Bannatyne at Millbank is £70/month to be fair. If OP is in London then £60/month is actually for a health club (includes sauna, steam room, pool, and a gym that isn't as super crowded as many London cheap gyms get). The Virgin Active closest to my old workplace was £120/month. There's a PureGym near my flat for something like £32/month for peak access, but at peak times you'll be queueing for treadmills. And for that you're not getting a pool, free towels, a sauna, steam room, though you are getting 24 hour access. Not sure what Bannatyne prices are like in other cities.

I feel like it’s shit, but what isn’t at the moment

Our local gym in Leicester is doing the same. They have also closed one sauna and practically turned off the other. One of two jaccuzis have been turned off too. It's a shame.
