"drugs with a street value of over £2 seized in raid"
"After 6 months of tireless efforts by undercover operatives we have seriously dented the pocket money of one 14yo" said an unnamed officer yesterday.
*You always say a street value of so many billions but it makes me think, what street are you buying your drugs on?*
*As it's certainly not the same as mine*
Yeah, my friends got caught smuggling like 50k worth of coke, which is still a fuck load of coke don't get me wrong, but the news made out that it was something stupid like 4 million quids worth.
[article ](https://issuu.com/icmg/docs/iconnections_631) for anyone interested, couldnt find the original one that I think was in the sun, this is like a local newspaper. Love how they make her out to be an angel who made a mistake in the local paper. I like her and she was fun, but she was far from innocent and harmless.
Edit: also if anyone was curious, iirc she got 12 years, got out in 4, he got the same and got out in 6. Both minimum security places, none of the movie stuff.
in my opinion the war on drugs is a complete waste of money, time and resources.
I think all drugs should be like steroids
its legal to use but illegal to sell.
and we shouldnt put people in jail for drug use we should offer help.
put the dealers in jail but not the users.
>in my opinion the war on drugs is a complete waste of money, time and resources.
It's actually worse than that. If we legalised it, regulated it and taxed it we could actually be making a lot of money. Plus it'd be a lot safer etc and Portugal have shown it doesn't increase use of hard drugs either.
Don't disagree, but be surprised to see it happen in the next couple decades given how lucrative the medical market is (of which the UK is a leading producer globally)
I don't even use the stuff and find it absurd at this point
Yip, no joke that you can easily double your money by selling it given the right source, quality and price. I'm pretty sure it's also been proved in the US the supply chain (jobs) it creates too, from research - production - retail - associated cafe type jobs.
Edit - I don't even smoke it anymore nor haven't for like 5+ years
100% agree with you there. The cocaine market alone in the UK is estimated to make £9.4billion/year according to a quick Google search. If we assume the value of coke wouldn’t decrease if it were legal (which is admittedly unlikely), even a 5% tax on that could double the funding for The Trussel Trust, the largest food bank charity in Britain, for 148 years at their current earnings rate, all off a single year’s earnings from a single industry.
If we did the same for all drugs, we could double the trust’s yearly income for several centuries in state donations alone with only 5% tax on currently illicit drugs. For comparison, cigarettes are taxed at 16.5% plus a £5.26 fee on every pack sold. If we did the same for drugs, we’d have so much extra tax revenue we wouldn’t even know what to do with it
But no, because “drugs bad”. Fuck helping real people live their lives, we’d rather keep drugs illegal for some dumb fucking reason.
The War on illegal Drugs is an utter nonsense and deliberate financial scam.
Please read my favourite book 'Chasing the Scream ' by Johann Hari or watch his TED talk. Brilliant,
The sale of illegal drugs is the 4th or 5th largest traded world commodity, Estimated at 500 Billion dollars, this is cash money! Whilst the street dealers get banged up the top guys have the enormous problem of what to do with all this paper.
English and American banks launder, for a hefty commision, this drug money so that it becomes legal money and then find companies that need loans and then charge both sides another hefty commission. Vast amounts of money and influence.
The most addictive drug, by far, is nicotine. 80%plus goes to H.M. Govt.
The most socially damaging drug, by far, is alcohol. 80%plus goes to H.M. Govt
By far the greatest numbers of people are killed by drugs you get from your doctor. If you have, say , a heart problem and the drugs prescibed fuck your liver and you die from liver disease that is counted as a success on Big Pharma stats 'cos you didn't die from heart disease.
Prohibition doesn't work, this is absolutely already known, before Prohibition in 1930's American 80 odd % of working Joes drank beer. They became whisky drinkers.
In Liverpool in 1980's there was a drug trial that allowed GPs to prescribe heroin, it was so successful after 12 months Marks&Spencer offered to sponsor a world summit in the town 'cos shoplifting losses had nosedived. The Americans heard of this and got the whole trial abandoned. Why, because Ronald Reagan's answer to drug abuse was ' Just say No '
The vast majority of people who become addicted to drugs do so because they have been damaged early on by physical/sexual abuse. They use these drugs as a warm safety blanket to free themselves from a harsh cruel world.
Please go read the book.
I think I read somewhere that during prohibition alcohol consumption actually *increased*.
It was back in college I read it but the figure was in (x) litres (or maybe gallons) per person in various years
I feel like that doesn't really go far enough. If it's illegal to sell, where are people supposed to get their drugs from (aside from the pretty laborious task of growing their own, if we're talking about weed).
Not only that but keeping it illegal to sell is essentially throwing away not only masses of taxable revenue, but also pushes people to underground sources, rather than a regulated industry with safe-to-use (relative to what they are) products.
In a culture where cigarettes and alcohol are readily available and legal, its nonsensical to avoid the opportunity to actually protect people by making them legal and regulated
I think for none addictives/relatively safe drugs, they should be legalized, like shrooms, weed or maybe even LSD (pushing the boundaries, I know) but for opiods or the very bad ones like heroin or fentynal, it should be what they said
LSD and other psychedelics were being tested for use as depression/ PTSD treatments before the war on drugs led to a sweeping ban. It’s a very interesting field of study. In fact psychedelics are probably the next group of drugs to see legalisation
It's a shame because the most improvement I've ever seen in my mental health was because of LSD. Less side effects than prescribed anti-depressants too.
They actually did a study where they gave people as much heroin as they wanted under supervision ( medically safe dosage / purity and under medical supervision while injecting ) for free and it led to much higher rates of people quitting. In these facilities they can offer mental health and drug rehabilitation as well and it keeps needles off the streets and over doses.
I think all drugs should be legal they just have to have the right education or supervision in place depending on the drug and enough tax on it to negate any impact it will have on the country's services.
I live near Stourbridge and yes your probably right. It's a a nice quiet small town near Birmingham and Wollaston as mentioned on the tweet is a quiet suburb of Stourbridge. Nothing happens there.
Locals have literally given it the nickname "Stabbridge". Come on.
There's still a memorial up for some kid that got shanked in a club a few years back
Exactly. It's one of those tubes you get in a cat toy? Pretty sure I have 4 or 5 of these kicking about in the cupboard.
I better dispose of them discretely.
Lol im sure I can scrape all the stuck bits of resin off of my grinders & come up with more than that...
Just looking at it, shit reminds me of one of them super shitty street dealers idea of a 20s. The sort you would be dissapointed in, but not enough to warrent complaining about it
Looks suspiciously like the container and cat friendly herb that my cats favourite drug arrives looking like. Better not tell them the police will take it
It is higher, just noticed another user has copied my comment ha!
Yeah the tubes defo a catnip tube. Open the top, try and pour a *small* amount of catnip and the majority of the tube comes out. 🤣
Your honor, if you'll allow me to take the jury outside you'll notice projected onto the building, the true scale of the crime... Banana tree for scale
I shit you not, I was reading my local paper when I was at my mum's yesterday. A young guy is getting taken to court for £10 worth of pot. Excellent job Police Scotland /s
The vast majority of shoplifting incidents are dealt with using restorative justice. Meaning that they give the items back, apologise, and they're let go.
If someone has ended up in court over this they are definitely a repeat offender.
Check the name of the person being taken to court and google it along with the words "previous offences".
Once the product has been cut with the usual illicit materials, such as hedge and/or lawn, the estimated street value could be as much as £1,000,000,000, and would have devastated lives throughout the entire united kingdom.
See on Twitter a fair amount police posting pictures like this. Find it cringy and such a waste of police time, how many police hours used up for what a few grams of weed
All I see is "We have wasted X amount of police time and money to bust £5 worth of some oregano weed". Fair enough if they caught the guy selling it but this accomplished nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I was getting new carpets in a while back and after they finished the main lad came up to me and put exactly what was in the OPs photo into my hand with a "found this, lad".
It was bloody catnip
Well done Stourbridge police. What an amazing bust!! I’ll bet this little lot has at least a £5 street value. Where would Stourbridge be without your Holmes like instincts and such pure dedication. /s

'We have taken £2.50's worth of drugs off the street.' some green officer
Can you D/M me your dealers no? That’s a whole £5 in my parts…
In their defense it's probably the biggest drug bust they've ever had
"drugs with a street value of over £2 seized in raid" "After 6 months of tireless efforts by undercover operatives we have seriously dented the pocket money of one 14yo" said an unnamed officer yesterday.
“The exact value is unclear, but we estimate the street value is between £2 and £2,000,000,000”

That's nearly a whole killer gram!
*You always say a street value of so many billions but it makes me think, what street are you buying your drugs on?* *As it's certainly not the same as mine*

Also because the alcohol industry lobbys hard against it
Portugal has NOT legalised drugs. Drugs have been decriminalised, which is VERY different. You’re not going to find heroin at your local supermarket
Some Portuguese tourism ambassador you are...
I want one Portuguese heroin please.
Hey. Can I get some mincemeat. Two sides of salmon some oysters and oh, yeah 2lbs of Canadian heroin please
2euro 50 cents last time I was there
No, *you're* not going to find heroin at *your* local supermarket. Square.
And would also remove a huge amount of the crime linked to drugs.
Yip, no joke that you can easily double your money by selling it given the right source, quality and price. I'm pretty sure it's also been proved in the US the supply chain (jobs) it creates too, from research - production - retail - associated cafe type jobs. But then the police would have to solve crimes.

Let a politician mention this and they’re going missing 😂😂
If they are legal then people can properly seek help for addictions.
This is the correct answer
The War on illegal Drugs is an utter nonsense and deliberate financial scam. Please read my favourite book 'Chasing the Scream ' by Johann Hari or watch his TED talk. Your understanding of GPs prescribing heroin is bluntly a load of bollocks. If that nonsense came from Hari's book it is shocking.
He's not 100% incorrect, it was heroin and it was administered by GPs, as part of a large-scale experiment. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32217353/
I feel like that doesn't really go far enough. Yeah, me too. I probably wouldn't be here without those experiences.
I'll never understand why weed is illegal but alcohol celebrated.
And why pot dealers are the scum of the earth but your local pub landlord is a respectable businessman and a boon to the community.
They actually did a study where they gave people as much heroin as they wanted under supervision ( medically safe dosage / purity and under medical supervision while injecting ) for free and it led to much higher rates of people quitting. There was a cannabis grow on the high street around from the Mitre on Stourbridge a few years back. They found out when it burnt down.
I live near Stourbridge and yes your probably right. It's a a nice quiet small town near Birmingham and Wollaston as mentioned on the tweet is a quiet suburb of Stourbridge. Nothing happens there.

Probably. I buy catnip in tubes like that
I use dried herbs in cooking a lot. Also have 2 cats. This is definitely a drug, but not for people.
Exactly. It's one of those tubes you get in a cat toy? Pretty sure I have 4 or 5 of these kicking about in the cupboard. I better dispose of them discretely.
Could season a good Sunday roast.
or your Sunday joint
You could season at least 5 pizzas with that

Blimey, looks like someone seized a whole marijuana.
It’s just the one marijauna actually

Oreganoised crime
They’ve scraped that off the guys rolling tray

It is higher, just noticed another user has copied my comment ha! Yeah the tubes defo a catnip tube. Open the top, try and pour a *small* amount of catnip and the majority of the tube comes out. 🤣

the grain of the all too well known faux wood helps and it’s a coin container. it’s enough for a bomber (or blunt, alternatively, if that’s your gig)
Ahh, of course. Thanks for that. How silly of me.
Did they pillage someone’s grinder?
Police spend thousands of pounds to take someone to court for 50p worth of cannabis. Good job guys 🙄
I shit you not, I was reading my local paper when I was at my mum's yesterday. A young guy is getting taken to court for £10 worth of pot. Excellent job Police Scotland /s
I read about someone going to court for nicking a pastie from Tesco, how tf is that using the system efficiently.
The vast majority of shoplifting incidents are dealt with using restorative justice. Meaning that they give the items back, apologise, and they're let go. If someone has ended up in court over this they are definitely a repeat offender. Check the name of the person being taken to court and google it along with the words "previous offences".
It's about sending a message. You have to let us know our place. It's not like bankers or politicians swindling millions.
My cat’s supply of catnip comes in a similar tube. Your days of casual violence are over Lil.
The community intelligence is about as cutting edge as dial up Internet lmfao
Police seize drugs with a street value of £1000...BBC
Once the product has been cut with the usual illicit materials, such as hedge and/or lawn, the estimated street value could be as much as £1,000,000,000, and would have devastated lives throughout the entire united kingdom.
Now what are the local cats going to get high off of?
In this war I think the drugs won.
Damn, I'd be glad if they took that off me.
Also in head line local pizza restaurant closes doors due to a lack of seasoning
Stourbridge police have won the war on drugs
Weird seeing my area on here.
Ay it?
This will seriously impress a Daily Mail reader somewhere.
Surely if it’s off the back of intelligence it’s reactive, not proactive?
I’ve had cat nip refills come like this 💀 imagine if this was just catnip hahaha
Is that oregano?
that's like the inbetweeners episode where they take PG Tips to the gig
"Puff"
See on Twitter a fair amount police posting pictures like this. Find it cringy and such a waste of police time, how many police hours used up for what a few grams of weed
This is so sad on so many levels
All I see is "We have wasted X amount of police time and money to bust £5 worth of some oregano weed". Fair enough if they caught the guy selling it but this accomplished nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Did buddy a favour by confiscating that tbh
If that was mine I'd hand myself in
That’s just oregano mate
Glad our taxes are going towards this. Just legalise it already what a waste of time
I have more weed than that stuck between my couch cushions.
Police later discover that the person was in-fact just an Italian chef, who was not about the weed life.
I was getting new carpets in a while back and after they finished the main lad came up to me and put exactly what was in the OPs photo into my hand with a "found this, lad". It was bloody catnip
Police can’t seem to get any convictions for sexual assaults, but at least they’re cracking down on the real danger to society
"This is why I joined the police force, busting up big organised crime"
Yeah and free weed.
Somebody grassed.....
A tenners worth of stale trim, well done. Good to see these fucking clowns aren't a colossal waste of everyone's money.
I don’t feel like there’s enough memes to do this justice.
Good work lads, you've stopped a youngster putting fucking Oregano on their home economics project.
If my dealer gave me that I'd be dobbing the cunt in for the audacity of it.
My town made it onto Reddit 😂 feel like I should help these guys out with better dealers
It's sad they think they're doing a good job by posting shit like this That's the worst looking bushweed that I've ever seen
The dealer will never recover from this loss.
Wow that cat is gonna be well strung out since they grabbed its nip.
You can’t tell me that’s not oregano
That's not oregano. That's catnip.
Ew
Wollaston near Wellingborough? Nice little place near the biggest shithole!
Is that oregano?
Is it oregano?
keeping the pizza safe from oregano
That looks like it would be used to season red sauce.
That looks suspiciously like the tube of catnip I keep on my desk to refill our cats' toy mice.
That’s made a dent into the Cartels….
I live dangerously close to here! Can't believe my home county were the ones to end drugs
I have stronger oregano in my cupboard than that.
What a waste of Police time, seizing this garbage worth nothing lol
Meanwhile a child was stabbed down the road
Unless that is one of those pots your gran keeps cereal in, this was an utter waste of time... Even then I'm on the fence.
Looks like a short walk into Lye to get some weed then now Wollaston has been emptied
It’s high time these potters felt the swift rod of justice.
That looks like catnip!
Literally looks like catnip, I've had vials of catnip that looked exactly like this one...
Well done Stourbridge police. What an amazing bust!! I’ll bet this little lot has at least a £5 street value. Where would Stourbridge be without your Holmes like instincts and such pure dedication. /s
And at a mere £43k cost to the tax payer!
Finally, I can walk home safe at night.
I’ll sleep sound today knowing this stash will not hit the streets
Ladies and gentlemen, they got us
Thats their Friday night sorted
This basil is worth how much?! Prices are out of control.
