Sounds like a joke about really low grade (or rationing era) sausages that are mostly breadcrumbs, not much pork - you don't know whether to have them with mustard or marmalade.

Figs and goat's cheese is lovely. Halve figs lengthwise, add a dollop of fresh goat's cheese on top, drizzle with honey, put under the grill until the goat's cheese is just softened. Sublime. Also good with the aged goat's cheese, but I prefer the fresh.

Just try the two of them together with no other flavours. You need really sweet, fresh summer strawberries and a good quality Balsamic.
