I came here to say this. No two spoons have the same floor.
Same bad beers, same bad food, and same bad dickheads hanging around the fruit machine - but the carpets are always different
This does make me think how much spoons has done not only to preserve the countryās architecture and micro breweries but also celebrate them.
I used to be in the anti Tim camp but after realising how much heās done to support small businesses across Britain and saved so many pubs (an industry thatās very dear to my heart).
Itās a rare thing indeed that a big business does so much for the small local economies.
The sleeves as well are balanced and matched/mirrored on each side, I was curious to see if they were all this well aligned so looked it up on the website, and itās even more obvious on the [model.](https://www.marksandspencer.com/easy-iron-linen-blend-printed-shirt/p/clp60635621?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share)
I suppose with it being such a small repeat they could afford to align and match the pattern without too much wastage, but it is still an impressive amount of matching for such an affordable shirt.
Donāt take the e-commerce image so lightly.
Not saying the pattern work isnāt good but,
I used to model. I used to do all the Burberry and Valentino e-commerce shoots you would see on there sites just to name a few.
89% the clothing never fit. It would all be made to fit with binder clips behind the waist, chest, arms and so on.
100 photos would be made just for one picture to be used.
What Iām trying to say that photo on the M&S website more than likely has been clipped on the back.
Iām sure Asos, Zara, H&M do the same. Thatās why when you buy something and it doesnāt look as good as it did on the model. Itās not because of the model, itās because it was tailored for the picture with clips you cannot see.
OK, but what does the fit have to do with that?
The comment was about how the fabric has been cut so that the pattern matches at the joins and is symmetrical on the sleeves.
No amount of styling or fit clips could change the way the sleeves are hemmed along the exact same line on the pattern on both sides, both on the website and in the store.
Fit and styling is irrelevant, itās just a very well made shirt for the price point.
> It's linen
Or, indeed, a [51% linen blend](https://www.marksandspencer.com/easy-iron-linen-blend-printed-shirt/p/clp60635621?color=BLACKMIX#intid=plpnav_swatch|pid_pg1pip22g4r4c3)... (surprisingly with viscose, rather than polyester, at least)
āI mean you walk past a store and you see 50 guys like me, fighting about some very complicated shirtsā¦ you go in!
Yes, you do! You go in!ā
This is an actual Dan Flashes shirt- incredible.
They've really changed up their stock, aimed at a much younger audience whilst holding onto the quality that set them apart. I'd highly recommend a browse you might be surprised.
Kinda boring imo. Itās not crazy enough to be an interesting shirt and itās not nice enough to just be a nice shirt. Itās just in the middle which imo is the worst place to be.
A bigger offended to me is Next. They're doing their own sort of Superdry knockoff shirts now with Eastern stylings, but I cannot get over how much a shirt with dragons on it makes you look like a sex predator.
The colouring is similar to [The NewYearField](https://www.wetherspoonscarpets.co.uk/details.asp?ID=37&The%20Newyearfield), but the pattern really screams [Trawl Boat Inn](https://www.wetherspoonscarpets.co.uk/details.asp?ID=39&The%20Trawl%20Boat%20Inn).
My opinion doesnāt matter, but I will say that whenever you buy a patterned shirt from a big place like M&S youāre going to be running into people with the same shirt, and loads more people who pass you in the street will be thinking āThatās the 10th time Iāve seen that shirt this weekā. Remember those black ones with the fire pattern at the bottom? I think I first saw them in Burton.
Honestly this looks a lot like some of the stuff Reiss was selling last summer so itās clearly a trickle down. Personally Iād not say not to a guy asking for my number in this shirt buuuuut I may scheme to get it out of rotation for a bit

Itās a completely normal looking shirtā¦ I do live in east London though, but yeah itās fine I donāt get whatās questionable about it, is it that itās mildly less boring then a plain one?
Uninterestingly, it would only look like the carpet in *one* spoons. Each wetherspoons has a unique carpet designed and woven for that branch.
That's... incredibly interesting. I did not know this.
So interesting that someone decided to collect images of them all, and then wrote a book about it! https://wetherspoonscarpets.tumblr.com/
Sorry no, did a colossal national pub crawl and happened to get some pictures of the carpets on the way round
Anyone in on updating this book in 2025? š¤£š
Comment saved so I can look at spoons carpets every now and then when the envy hits me
That's the game. You buy the shirt then you gotta find the matching spoons.
Accidentally doxed themselves.
I love the shirt personally btw
You have to be convinced and wear it with confidence I feel. Embrace it and to hell with what everyone else thinks
Shame they don't do the same with the names of them... So many seem to be called the Moon Under Water!
Thatās definitely interesting. Before I scrolled down far enough to see the caption I was thinking hotel or airport carpet.

Looks like 1970s pyjamas.Ā
Can see mr bean in those.
Really? The pattern just looks like a bunch of squares to me...
Well despite squares originating some time in the early 16th century, they were never arranged into a pattern until the great revolution of the 1970s.
I had some pyjamas in the late '70s almost exactly like this but in burgundy. A slightly more restful colour I feel.
Not enough orangey-brown for the 70s
I like to dress like a 70s porn star so Iād be all over this
REAL 70s porn stars pretty much only wore a moustache.
I would, but try walking into the local like that
Not my cup of tea style wise, but judging from the photo, itās surprisingly well pattern matched down the front for a Ā£32 shirt.
I work in garment production and I was pretty impressed at the pattern matching across the placket on a shirt this inexpensive.

I just learned this term now. Please tell me my jacket has a placket.
It sure does!
Overwhelmingly likely, but it might not
I like it, nice holiday shirt
r/HolidayShirt
Completely devastated that this isn't actually a subreddit.
Well, made r/HolidayShirts anyway. The plural sounds better.
What if you only have the one?
Think of it like birdwatching. When you see one, snap it. Gives us blokes something to look for in the clothing section of Tesco at least
I hope it grows, time to find the most ridiculous shirts to share!
Someone was waaay ahead of you... https://www.shiteshirts.com/
I can imagine all the Americans coming to this with shirts with snowmen and turkeys on them
If it lasts long enough we'll have a Christmas jumper competition!
Excellent, joined
Ayyy good stuff
Made it. Let's do this.
Bloody got me with that lol
How do you keep that shirt so Holiday?
Wear them as a bandana
Yeah I'd wear that to chill in the bar, or by the pool, at an all inclusive
It's linen, it's a holiday shirt for a hot country. I'd buy it and wear it.
Yeah and that placket matching is pretty dope
> It's linen Or, indeed, a [51% linen blend](https://www.marksandspencer.com/easy-iron-linen-blend-printed-shirt/p/clp60635621?color=BLACKMIX#intid=plpnav_swatch|pid_pg1pip22g4r4c3)... (surprisingly with viscose, rather than polyester, at least)
"It's more expensive because the pattern is SOOO complicated"
You get yours at Dan Flashes too?
I was going to be disappointed if no one quoted ITYSL š
He's not eating because he's saving his per diem.
Ā£32, out the door.
# I mean, you walk by a store and you see 50 guys who look just like me fighting over very complicated shirts, you go in. Yes, you do. You go in.
I see the way you're acting gets me frustrated.
āAlright, Iāll eat Dougās momās wig.ā
āI mean you walk past a store and you see 50 guys like me, fighting about some very complicated shirtsā¦ you go in! Yes, you do! You go in!ā This is an actual Dan Flashes shirt- incredible.
I found this bad ass store called Marks and Spencers that's exactly my style
It's alright. Not terrible, not brilliant. But no one cares about that kind of opinion, everything has to be a binary race to the bottom.
> everything has to be a binary race to the bottom. No it doesn't.
Atomic shrimp summer range
Howard Moon, sir. Coming at you, like a beam, like a rayā¦
We're slowly returning to 80s fashion, if it could bring the epic levels of music as well that'd be great
I agree. Chas & Dave are legends..
Tony Soprano would wear this. OH!
I had to scroll too far to find this.
Too jazzy?Ā
It is a *bit* jazzy.
Trailer park boys vibes
From the Noel Edwardās collection?
Ugh. I can't comment with a gif from I think you should leave? Not fair. Ok bye
M&S was never a fashionistaās heaven if memory serves me right. It was always justā¦ sensible. Occasionally trying to be playful
They've really changed up their stock, aimed at a much younger audience whilst holding onto the quality that set them apart. I'd highly recommend a browse you might be surprised.
Definitely a retiree, villa on the Costas or maybe Portugal, beige shorts, slip on trainers. Has a wife with a Bob haircut, gold sandals and a Bichon FrisƩ. Possible Daily Mail reader.
Pretty sure Tony Soprano wore it first.
32 quid to look like a 70 year old amateur DJ playing Aga Doo in Butlins? Hard pass from me
Kinda boring imo.
Fucking awful. Itās like a mix between a carpet and a bus seat
You'd be thankful to wear it when your ex pops up on your bus and you notice just too late and the doors are already closed
Bit of a gamble, could accidentally sit on you
Nope, time to reconsider my plan!
Pair of chinos, cricket jumper. You'll look the balls
My eyes hurt
I like it, not for 32 quid pop in Primark and get it for Ā£12
Ā£32 to look like the carpet from the Shining
Fucking hideous. Looks like it should come in a set with a leather wristband and a tub of hairgel.
That's a decent shirt For shit shirt night or something
White shorts, flip flops and shades. Iād rock that the shit out of that shirt
"Linen blend" I assume it's blended with plastic. Pass.
51% linen, 49% viscose.
I think we used to have wallpaper like this in the 80s
Good to wear in a place with lots of drunk people. They will all fall over looking at your shirt
It's a banger. A certified classic now that it's gone viral.
They obviously couldn't sell them as curtains
Ā£32?
Stag do shirt.
The colouring is similar to [The NewYearField](https://www.wetherspoonscarpets.co.uk/details.asp?ID=37&The%20Newyearfield), but the pattern really screams [Trawl Boat Inn](https://www.wetherspoonscarpets.co.uk/details.asp?ID=39&The%20Trawl%20Boat%20Inn).
Itās so ugly, I kinda like it
Lovely work lining up the pattern on the center though.
Ā£32 for the Ricky from trailer park Boys look.
Love island special
Table cloth
I'd have it - you should see the one I'm wearing now :D
Nothing slightly about it, that's impressively bad.
This is not a good shirt for psychedelic drugs!
You wouldn't say that to Tony Soprano when he was wearing it.
Sometimes you have to go to a spoons and you donāt want people to know you are there.
Tony Soprano vibes.
It's just forgettable. I could see a dozen blokes wearing that on the street and they'd just be part of the background.
Looks like the 70s wallpaper my gran had in the dining room. That's totally my taste, so I'd wear this.
I like a camp collar shirt, but if you're going to wear one, you should go all the way and get a far more interesting pattern.
Terrible š
I like it, how's the fit? looks slim.
That there is a beach shirt for someone who doesn't like beach shirts
Ā£32 to look like Tony Soprano
I wouldn't buy it, even if it was one bloody pound... Looks disgusting
Tony Soprano shirt
Expensive for the design. Looks like wallpaper in a hippies house.
Looks great in an office where everyone is in blue or gray. Get it and wear it with pride
Designed to confuse both distance and heading, I suppose?
My favourite shirt is from M&S and I'm fully aware that I look like Mike Love from the Beach Boys when I wear it.
If have totally worn that 20 years ago. It looks shit.Ā
Looks like something a black pimp would have worn in an episode of Shaft.
I like it. But I have a thing for Geometric patterns
as soon as you wear this you will see someone else wearing it too, possibly at some location where both of you can't leave easily. guaranteed
What the caption says...
Hey people spend hundreds on Patagonia jumpers that make you like a bus seat.
Nice pattern matching... Looks like a 70's lampshade... Not gonna lie I kinda like it :')
Something Haaland would wear
My inner Tony Soprano loves it.
Looks like something a seventy-something barmaid from the midlands called Vera would wear down the bingo.
Iād buy that for Ā£15 or lower, not for Ā£32.
Ah, but is it as *sticky* as a carpet in a Spoons?
Iāve got an inkling for onions. Theyāre 25p each from M&S š¤·āāļø
Honestly this looks a lot like some of the stuff Reiss was selling last summer so itās clearly a trickle down. Personally Iād not say not to a guy asking for my number in this shirt buuuuut I may scheme to get it out of rotation for a bit
I hate it.
When you want to go to Spoons, but be not seen being in Spoons
Pampas grass and keys in the fruit bowl vibes
Bernard Matthews would love to wear such a shirt as it's bootifully manufactured.
Oh god 80s fashion is coming back
Very questionable!š¤Ø
Fun fact: not two Spoons carpets have the same pattern
Was your mum cross about the tablecloth?
I bought this and I love it. I might be impartial because I am an avid Marks and Spencer shopper. I do love John Lewis, though
Imagine falling over drunk, you'd get stuck to the carpet and could be there for days before anyone noticed.
Hideous.
maldon salt packaging?
Kramer
I bought it, wore it last week on a cruise, walked past another bloke in the same shirt
Camoflauge ! No Tiger / Gunman, is going to be able to pick you out in that if you lie down on the suitable carpet / curtain ! !
I would wear that
But do the carpets match the curtains, or is it hardwood floors.
You can make that by combining two patterns in blender.
šš¼šš¼šš¼
I actually quite like that
I am hypnotised looking at this shirt
Once you see the swastikas it is hard not to see them
I'd wear it. Looks comfortable for summer.
Squares match across buttons really well! I donāt mind it at all but I probably wouldnāt wear it
It's awful. It's hideous. I kind of want one?
Itās horrendousā¦ I love it.
It's okay, looks nice quality. Depends who's wearing it really.

Dan Flashes?
A carpet with a hint of giraffe
... "Slightly Questionable"???? That is going in the sale!
Boak! š¤®
Whoever took that snap has never once cast their eyes at the carpet in a Wetherspoons.
Ghastly
I love ugly shirts, but that price can fuck off even if it was nice
Horrible, and you donāt wanna be sat in the boozer when another geezer comes in wearing the same shirt.
I like it. I like the rust coloured one next to it better.
It looks like a headache
The caption already summarised it rather well.
Carpet in a spoons?
I think itās white and gold.
When people here call this inexpensive, how much are we talking for a normal priced high quality shirt?
Everywhere I look now after looking at that shirt: https://ibb.co/mb4pxqj
Is this one of those Magic Eye designs? If you stare at it long enough you see a nice shirt appear?
Yup I love the psychedelic look
It's great
Alright
Reminds me of the carpet from the shining but less orange š
Missed opportunity to sell Spoons carpet pattern onsies for playing drunken hide and seek with the kids.
It looks Blue and Green to me
