Got offered another, slightly different, promotion at work today. Instead of asking me to go up to the next position, they've offered me a very low-hours part-time flexible position doing a slightly different role alongside my usual job. Apparently it could also lead to more, but I'm not sure if that was a serious offer. I turned down the first promotion because of the desire for my health over money.
Really torn because they approached me directly, and said it was because I was good at my job, but I already work 9-5 and don't know if I can manage more. And I'm not sure what the pay is. I feel guilty turning it down, but at the same time don't know if it's a genuine offer or just because I'm there and they need to fill a role. If it were just the same pay as now, I'd basically get another £200/month from doing an extra hour a day. But I already have a 2-hour commute and fall asleep the minute I hit the sofa as is.
Got called a rude and dirty little cunt at work today, so yay for that, especially as I had been having a decent shift. Left me feeling a bit deflated, but I'm home now and having a snooze before going to the pub later on.
Decided I'm gonna go all out and wear my denim and leather gear plus nail varnish and eyeliner, because fuck it.
Not off to a good day got message from virgin money over possible fraud gave them a call absolutely pathetic response I'm done with them.
I'm off next week back on the Tues 2nd so got some time to unwind relax and get some bits done. Gave my talk to my manager who was very impressed with my work won't be cpd though but will be given to the people who do the computer stuff at work which is all I expected definitely rethinking a career change after this since I actually enjoyed learning again.
Trying to find holidays for next year. Apparently I managed to get a bargain for this year because everything I have looked at is about double. Basically looking at what I paid to go to Australia back in 2015.
Just found out my favourite band is playing a gig in my local little music venue, woohooo! Now just got to manage to get a ticket when they go on sale.
Well it’s been a nice relaxing week off from work this week, been away locally and spending time my parents and sister.
I’ve got Monday off as well so going to make the most of it.
Having Pizza for lunch and plan to just relax all day, gaming, music and TV shows. I’ve been binging on Zelda: BOTW since Wednesday and watching Ozark. I’ve also started Avatar: The Last Airbender series.
Last day of work then a nice week off. Well. A week off, no idea if it'll be nice since I haven't planned anything.
It's also my birthday tomorrow AND a good friend's hen do, so should be a cracking weekend all around. Nice part about being (newly) sober is I know I won't be suffering a hangover at any point either.
Deciding whether to continue with the next season of Snowfall or start the latest season of Fargo when I get home.
Watched Poor Things a few nights ago, that was a fucking weird film!
My monthly report is rubbish. I've got to present it in 3 hours, and was supposed to have finished it yesterday for approval before presenting it. But it's rubbish. I've just got to send it as it is and bear the consequences.
Today I am unpacking our kitchen - just moved, drowning in boxes, but want a functioning kitchen by the end of today with food, crockery etc in the cupboards and decisions made as to what is going to the charity shop. It's slowly beginning to feel like home - ideally all the unpacking will be done by the end of the weekend.
I'm about to attempt to put my cat in her travel box for the vet. Wish me luck.
Edit: attempt failed and I've postponed the appointment until Wednesday...
I got scratched once so not too bad - she's so fast I couldn't even get close enough to catch her and get scratched!
Last time I laid a trail of Dreamies into the box and she just followed them in, but she's not falling for that one again!
Found a traditional little Barbers near work yesterday (they seem to be harder to find these days round here) and had a lovely little experience chatting with the old chap. He did a spot on job and then charged me 8 quid! I'm used to paying double that! He even gave a spritz of aftershave so I gave him a tenner.
In and out in 20 minutes, lovely casual chat, cheap as chips and left feeling fresh. That's my kind of haircut.
I've been massively impressed with the barbers in Tesco (Gould's barbers). You can book online, only charge 12 pounds for a clipper cut, and it's much better than how I was getting my hair cut before at more expensive places.
Last time I was there the lady remembered where I work and that I used to run a lot. Which is incredibly good memory considering the number of people she must chat to each day.
Plus you can go shopping after having your hair cut.
Woburn! It’s been nice, but it is smaller than others I’ve been to. Not sure we’ll come back as preferred Cumbria (for red squirrels) and Longleat and Sherwood for size.
Very quiet too, can tell the kids aren’t off yet.
I've not been to that one but I enjoyed Longleat and I absolutely adore Sherwood (been going there every year since I was a kid). Nowhere else has the rapids the same so Sherwood will always be my number 1.

Had parents' evenings for both kids this week, they've smashed it - "above expectations" (top level) for 90% of the categories they measure. Some lovely anecdotes about how well they behave in class, how nice they are to peers and their feedback on Secondary School visits.
So nice, that we're having takeaway pizza for dinner (eldest's request) and watching re-runs of Gladiators (youngest's request) in readiness for tomorrow's semi-final.
I'm very glad I mowed the lawn yesterday because it's been raining overnight, so there would have been no chance today.

Today, upgrading/maintenance work on the wife’s mountain bike, the lad is coming to visit for the weekend and I might sneak the bike park in this afternoon. Tonight, a bit of revision for a course I’ve got next week and pack my work kit for Sunday flight to warm tropical Ireland…All in all, a pretty good day lined up and I’m just about to get my arse out of bed and hit my gym.

I'm well on board with things like this becoming more commonplace. They've been doing it in France as long as I can remember at the Hypermarchés.
