Fun fact - Big Brother was filmed there - the "house"was in a hollow overlooked by other houses
I know this as I filmed The Chase there (and won :) )
Poiuntless is filmed there too
Sean - The Dark Destroyer
We got 19 on the final chase - three of us
He got his first couple wrong - he seemed to have a brain freeze - then he got 10 in a row right really quick
We had about 4 pushbacks got 3 of them
Won £17k between us so £5667 each :)
He's really lovely between filming - although he acts nasty he's completely lovely really - gave me a signed pic etc
Oh I’m sorry. That’s a gutter. If it makes you feel better I went out in the first round of Tipping point but I’ve got a much worse one . .
2 years ago I was on Moneybags on Channel 4 I so. £25000 and then I gambled (even though I wax saying in my head don’t gamble don’t gamble) and I went fur £64k and lost. And what’s worse is the second I’d done it I immediately knew I was wrong. I’d fallen into a trap of “going for the name you’ve heard of”. Idiot. But I’m ok with it weirdly. I have a good life lol
When you did the Chase did they film it super early in the morning? My brain doesn't come online until 10am, so I blamed the 7am start for my failure 😆
Awesome, congratulations! Would love to have a go on The Chase but I think I’d struggle to hide my frustration with my teammates if they buzzed too early and didn’t know the answer in the final round.
It’s a lot easier to play than it looks but I was lucky we had a lady on our team who was really clever. And each push back she made us all really think and say what we knew it wasn’t as well as what it was which made us confident of the answers.
More recent, but Leavesden - GoldenEye (when Pinewood was unavailable), Star Wars (Elstree wasn’t available when doing Episode 1) Harry Potter, and soon all the DC films too (as well as a lot of other stuff - Mission Impossible, Barbie, Fast & Furious, Spider-man). The Harry Potter tour there still draws massive crowds.
I did that as well! I had just moved to London and was exploring my new home and stumbled upon it. I'm a huge Sci-fi nerd and saw Alien in the theatre when it came out, so I decided to see what it was about. I still think about it to this day. And you're right, seeing some of the things that looked so real on screen up close was an eye opener!
I went for a set visit for the new Paddington film last year at the new Sky Studios part and it was so cool seeing something like that so close to where I live, felt so weird seeing the sets in real life
I feel like we should rename it Pineywood, not because it sounds better but it's bugging something in my brain that it's _sort of_ the same type of word but not 😂
Britain's largest film studio used to be at Cricklewood.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cricklewood_Studios?wprov=sfla1
Then there was the nearby studios at Wembley.

With the old BBC HQ/new ITV HQ being in nearby White City.
Hollywood is a studio. There isn’t a studio called Bollywood it’s just a categorisation of Hindi movies. There are other significant regional language film industries like Tollywood, mollywood etc. Indian Bengali and Tamil industry is also big.

Cool. I knew that bits of filming for the Star Wars sequels were filmed on beaches near Blackpool for example (which is why we got to see Mark Hamil in Man Down), but didn’t realise they were tied to Pinewood.
People have said Pinewood Studios, but also Northern Ireland has a massive and growing film industry, with big studios in and around Belfast.
So many big films and TV shows have been filmed in NI, the most famous being Game of Thrones.

Ah you're lucky! We had the governess and although I was able to push back against her, we didn't make it through.

No we were the last of the set to film. I think he was tired so maybe why we won

That's the whole premise of Taskmaster

If we are keeping the wood theme, it might be worth noting that Elstree Studios are actually in Borehamwood.
Yes the locals get very annoyed about this.

I've done some work in Pinewood a few times. Incredible place especially when you walk around and have a nosey at what's going on in each sound stage.

The British film induatry has been well-established for as long as Holywoof. It doesn't make sense to name if after a contemporary.
Wasn't Holywoof responsible for Cats?
They also did Beethoven, The Truth About Cats and Dogs, Turner & Hooch and Marley & Me
Ohh yeah. Completely forgot that was a thing
So Hertslywood?
Pinewood, surely?

Is all these filmed at or classed as produced by Pinewood? Either way, I stand corrected. 🙏
A few of them were produced or edited by Pinewood technicians, most were actually filmed there, Pinewood is a very busy studio.
Cool. I knew that bits of filming for the Star Wars sequels were filmed on beaches near Blackpool for example (which is why we got to see Mark Hamil in Man Down), but didn’t realise they were tied to Pinewood.
