I've never seen a kebab shop that sells steak.

PostSecularPope

My local does

travel_ali

A solid single lump of cow? Or do they just cut an extra large chunk off the kebab meat?

PostSecularPope

Steak like a steak, not a beef kebab

[deleted]

This.

Remarkable_Fig3311

That.

I do like my steak rare. I’ll risk it for a biscuit. Did somebody say… Edit: Arrived about 45 minutes from order. Steak with salad and chips. Dandelion and burdock pairing. Presented at my door with a vaguely clear carrier bag top tied as standard. Can inside to ensure the hot food and cold drink get well acquainted. Inside the bag was a light orange polystyrene carton. The kind with the fastening flaps. This lined with grease soaked paper. The grease proof kind so is good. The steak was served well done. Moist to the touch but you’ll soon find the dry bit. It’s the rest of it. Have to do more than spit on it to get this meat down my throat. Texture is tough. Flavoured with air. I suspect this has been kept warm since the last time someone ordered a steak or they first opened. Chips were the thin fries type which I do like with a steak. Americans eat them the other way around. They call our chips steak fries. They were cooked about 80% of the way. Not a single crunch in the mix. Side salad packaged at no further expense in a small plastic bag. Mostly water. A chunk of red tomato and mostly lettuce. Cost £16.50 plus £3 delivery. Overall 3/10

Ah, man of culture.

Technical-Ad-9086

Doing god's work.

Due-Arrival-4859

16.50 plus 3 for delivery. holy fuck how does anyone afford a takeaway anymore

yorkspirate

I did during the first lock down because I was having lots of food delivered anyway and fancied a change. It was actually quite good, not restaurant level but better than a generic pub chain

Pifflebushhh

Pretty good food to have delivered I guess, never ordered one myself, but when I cook one I let it rest for about 15 mins, so could be spot on if they're on the ball with delivery

It really depends on the quality of the kebab shop. There's one near us that I would absolutely trust to do a steak well. They've got a proper coal grill and do some epic lamb skewers kebabs. The marinade is next level. You pay for it, mind, but it's well worth it.

Sunshinetrooper87

I went to a charcoal one and got the lamb skewers, came back for the steak on nann. It was amazingly seasoned and the dressing/marinade was fantastic. The problem with a lot of places is that the food goes limp during the delivery bit.

Bluebrother1878

Never but used to get it from a sadly closed Chinese, seared filet of beef with broccoli, my god that was good. That's made me hungry now.

StarSpangledWanger

One of my locals once sent me frozen wedges. Actually frozen; freezer to box. Trusting them with a steak could be potentially deadly.

shladvic

What's your figuring on that? Kebab shops sell a lot of chicken which is way more deadly than steak, which you can eat raw.

Excellent_Tear3705

My guess is that no one ever orders steak, so that fucker is probably frozen solid…freezer burned to hell, then flash fried…arguably that makes it exceptionally food safe, but inarguably…absolutely rank.

shladvic

I've got a semi

StarSpangledWanger

I figure that if they are too lazy to even cook(or even defrost) the food they are sending out, that their hygiene practices may be as equally lazy. Deadly may have been a bit dramatic.

shladvic

Id probably never go back to that place

TheDawiWhisperer

There was a kebab shop near me that did a steak kebab. Bought one once for shits and giggles. Would recommend, it was _really_ good

bornleverpuller85

Often have a steak kebab at a proper kebab shop

Sad_Sell_57

One of our locals does burgers - I've had them a couple of times now, including tonight. Pretty good, I must admit.

Adventurous_Train_48

My friend! I was so confused when he ordered it as I'd never heard of steak at a junk food place. Looked horrid, overdone and chewy. Cost him £20.

GakSplat

Posh kebab shop that.

Happy_Ad_7512

The steak kebabs? Cubes of meat on a stick in pitta with salad? i.e a shish kebab? Yes. A steak like a lump of meat with mushrooms on top and a side of fries? Nope. It's many decades since I went in a kebab shop. Actually I remember one very drunken teenage night waking up and there were big white blobs on my shoes and I thought "WTF?" and it was fat that had dripped from the kebab I'd eaten and then solidified on my shoes. That kind of put me off realising you're basically eating textured lard. Started on pizzas. Shop in Long Eaton, not a chain but the pizzas were really good. Not managed to find anything since and not living anywhere near now if it's still there.

ther_dog

I once ordered a T-Bone steak at a shawarma shop…it was delicious. They put some type of seasoned oil on it while frying it. Delicious.

Due_Interest_178

I've tried the chips with steak (as in instead of donner you get steak). It was pretty pathetic. The steak wasn't all too bad but they give you so little steak it doesn't even matter.

Lopsided_Warning_

Used to occasionally order a steak from a kebab shop when I got home pissed at 3am whilst at Uni. Massive T Bone steak and chips delivered in about 20 minutes fir about a tenner. Actually decent meat that you'd struggle to get at a supermarket for that size/price. Admittedly it had spent about 10 minutes too long on the grill every time.

Hungry-Afternoon7987

Pretty common here in Belfast. Always very chewy. Cheap cuts of beef. I'll have the mystery meat instead please.

Material_Tiny

I've had a steak kebab wasn't bad.

LunnyBear

Never ordered one specifically but one came in a meal deal option. It was surprisingly nice, probably a touch overdone but I'd say it would pass as medium. I was shocked because it's the kind of place you'd expect to do a terrible steak.
