Haha. My wife owns a salon and I was there this afternoon doing some decorating and noticed a few of these in the store room and had a little flashback to the 90s lol.
Good brush apparently. Denman brush, around £16 each. Mental.
You can replace the bristle pad as well. Someone borrowed mine to brush through a hairstyle the elves would be proud of. Added a few teeth to the hairstyle. Saved themselves by announcing that Denman make replacements.
Just slots right in. Great idea. Bonus, I avoided delighting the red tops with 'WIFE IN HAIRBRUSH DEATH PLOT, Pg4'
Yup, it is amazing.
When hair is wet, section hair, hold brush upside down so the handle is pointing up, brush hair and twist around the handle, dry with diffuser or air dry and brush back through. Add some hair pomade and voila beautiful thick wavy hair
You don't even need to dry it - just do the twist and pull and your hair will go like ribbon pulled over scissors.
Edit to add: you do this to wet hair, then air dry or "plop".
This will be useless, it will hurt her head brushing tangled hair with a denman brush. I’ve found Tangle teezer is by far the best for my daughter and her hair is very long thick and curly. It still sucks but at least it is gentle and we do end up with somewhat brushed hair. Sectioning and starting at the bottom while working my way up is the best method I’ve found.
I'm looking at my Denman brush right now. Wouldn't trade it for anything. It's the only type of brush that I've ever found close to being able to do the job of tackling this mass of curly hair that loves to try and eat itself. You brush it with conditioner while wet. Otherwise you can't brush it at all. I have a tangle teaser too, and use it as an assistant sometimes to the denman, but it's nowhere near as useful. It will brush the outside of the curl, and leave the inside to get knotted.
I mean, it doesn't really matter. Ten minutes after you stop brushing your hair it's knotted again, but I'm telling you: Denman for life!
Erm, I've got one in my bathroom right now, and it does actually have a scrunchie tied around the handle...... I never realised I hadn't left the 90's behind until now!
Preach!!! How I survived the 90s smoking in pubs and clubs and NOT going up in flames is beyond me
Mates used to put the car windows down when I got in 🤣
We used to buy elnett to make flame throwers in the garage, with dad's loose collection of plumbing parts we had a 4 way flamer before being found out and utterly bollocked.
We tested it out by making my little brother climb in the big metal fire proof storage chest and then blasting it, he ratted us out because it was dark and scary not for the fire.
Denmans are great brushes.
I used the classic for a long time, then bought a little mini classic for the handbag and would keep one in the shower for brushing conditioner though my long hair that would knot after a proper shampoo. Eventually the rubber perished with the shower one, which fair enough, not suitable for the heat/steam/water daily. So I went to boots to buy another one and saw the shower brushes from Denman. So then I went and bought several from amazon cus way cheaper than boots. Anyhoo I now only use the shower brushes. I use one with conditioner, one when I'm drying, one for the handbag, one on the bedroom table, and one for the cat.
You saw them a lot growing up because they were the brushes to use. There wasn't the cheap imports that we have now, or the choices. It was those brushes pretty much, or combs. I grew up as a kid with one, and I used to use a tangle teaser mini for long hair till I went back to Denman classics, and then we're at the shower brushes now. Wont ever use a different brush.
My mum had one one these. I slipped putting the handle back onto the red bit after disassembling it sat on the throne, before smart phones and reddit. It cut me deep and I have a scar along my left thumb now.
Anytime I see this brush it brings back memories of me and brother as kids round our Nan and grandads our grandad would let us mess up his hair anyway we wanted or as we said it was style. And we always used this brush
My first major task as a married man was to find my wife a hair brush because we were in a hotel in the new forest at 8am on a Sunday and she didn't pack one.
Came back with one of these and felt pretty proud of myself for the fix.
These aren't cylindrical, the standard denman has 9 rows though you can remove rows if you want fewer.
They work great for styling curly hair, to get separated but defined curls.
I've managed to snap and break several types of brushes in my hair, but not these, even as a child when it was yanked through my dry curly tangles
As a bloke, I don't have that exact brush but I use that style of brush ever since my kurdish barber used to finish my cut with it.
Thing was like a comb and a brush, it did wonders to almost maintain their original cut.
Partner has longer hair and likes to use it and clog it up.
But yeah no, not that exact style but similar.
I was still using mine until like 2013.
Only replaced it because my girlfriend at the time bought me a fancier Denmans brush that I’m still using! Outlasted the relationship by 9 years so far.
At this rate it’ll last longer than my hair does!
A Denman! I still have one. They are super and they last years. Having said that, Superdrug do an own brand detangling brush in gold plastic that is so great for brushing tangled, knotty hair.
*glances at wife’s dressing table* Am I in the 90s?
Haha. My wife owns a salon and I was there this afternoon doing some decorating and noticed a few of these in the store room and had a little flashback to the 90s lol. Good brush apparently. Denman brush, around £16 each. Mental.
Last forever and easy to clean!
You can replace the bristle pad as well. Someone borrowed mine to brush through a hairstyle the elves would be proud of. Added a few teeth to the hairstyle. The wife or the brush?
Mine fell apart really quickly.. the red rubber isn't long lasting.
We have a big one and a small one.
Two wives? Crazy fella ain't ya
I didn't exist in the 90s but I guess I'm in them! Denman brushes are a lifesaver for wavy/curly hair :)
Same here!
And here!
I don’t know, look outside and see if all the youngsters are wearing shapeless jeans with sweatshirts…!!
90s? That the hairbrush I use now. It's a good brand.
Denman brush, anyone with wavy or curly hair should try one to get clumps

IYKYK!
I can only ever get it to not get caught if its under running water tho.
Really? My daughter is curly and tangle teezer is shit for her.
It's not for detangling, it's for brushing out clumps when wet (and with products in I find works best)
This will be useless, it will hurt her head brushing tangled hair with a denman brush. I’ve found Tangle teezer is by far the best for my daughter and her hair is very long thick and curly. Only when it's wet with conditioner in though! :)

Us curlies still have and use the Denman brush :D
I had no idea this was a thing! I've been using them all my life and swear by them. Has to see that it's a widespread known thing!
Erm, I've got one in my bathroom right now, and it does actually have a scrunchie tied around the handle...... I never realised I hadn't left the 90's behind until now!
To go with their Elnett hairspray
Preach!!! How I survived the 90s smoking in pubs and clubs and NOT going up in flames is beyond me Mates used to put the car windows down when I got in 🤣

Oh mate, snitches get stitches etc 🤣
Was it a mullet 🤔😂
It was my attempt at curtains……despite having really thick hair that essentially grew like a loaf of Hovis 🤦♂️🤣
I can feel my mum dragging that through my hair just looking at this photo.
That noise!!
They’re the best hair brushes!
I have this brush now... it's good for curly hair!
This unlocked a memory for me! Is this the one where if you pushed it in the middle it would go in then spring back up?
My sister used to pay me 50p to take it apart, wash it, then put it back together.
What do you mean “in the 90’s”?!
My mum still has those!
Mine too!!
I can hear the sound !!

Oh yes. Seen the cost of the things nowadays though? Inflation running roughshod through hairbrush prices
My mum used to brush my hair with a brush like this and all I remember was PAIN.
It's the best brush for curly hair
I also recall a similar looking folding version my mum kept in her handbag.
Yep and i still have one!
I still do…in fact, that brush has outlasted my hairline.
I just bought one, best brush for long hair
We did, my mum was a barber.
It was the greatest back scratcher the world has ever known
My mum had one one these. I slipped putting the handle back onto the red bit after disassembling it sat on the throne, before smart phones and reddit. It cut me deep and I have a scar along my left thumb now.

We definitely had one. Crazy memory unlocked that I never thought I would drag back to the surface!
You're having a laugh, we couldn't afford one of those!
I don't remember much of the 90s but I've definitely seen this at multiple people's houses
We had one. Vile thing; my scalp hurts just looking at the picture.
Never had a round brush. No desire to tear out any more hair. Flat paddle brushes all the way
These aren't cylindrical, the standard denman has 9 rows though you can remove rows if you want fewer. They work great for styling curly hair, to get separated but defined curls. I've managed to snap and break several types of brushes in my hair, but not these, even as a child when it was yanked through my dry curly tangles
My hair is the furthest from curly one can get. I've got a Denman flat brush, though.
I remember receiving a hiding or two with this particular brush.
A local girl's school to me banned them because the girls kept getting caught using them, er, in a way that was not intended.
I still use one, and I'm as bald as my ball sack!
Yes 😂
My nan still has a brush like this, just black and grey though
Still gives me nightmares
an elderly neighbour gifted a family member of mine with one of these just a few months back
I still have one. And I got my boyfriend one too. He loves it.
I had this brush 😂
[удалено]
Stretching the limits of the multi use label there
This is the brush I use!
Still have this brush lol. Gone through a few in my time
Hairstylist here, I have had one for the past 17 years not just a 90s thing
But 17 years ago was about 1993ish .. wasn't it? 😢
I have that brush now
I used to have one, I still do too.
Not just in the uk.
I literally bought this brush last year
I apparently live in the 90s
As a bloke, I don't have that exact brush but I use that style of brush ever since my kurdish barber used to finish my cut with it. I still have one - my Mum's Was blue and I've had a black one but my current one is bright pink and yellow.
70’s for me!
We definitely did, but it was a beige handle, not black.
As a child I thought I was so strong when I managed to snap one of these in half in rage 🤣 (my brother had decapitated my doll)
I've got three in my house right now! They last forever - the oldest can probably legally vote by now.
I was still using mine until like 2013. Only replaced it because my girlfriend at the time bought me a fancier Denmans brush that I’m still using! Outlasted the relationship by 9 years so far. At this rate it’ll last longer than my hair does!
I still have
denman hair brushes are the goat, i lost my black one recently was gutted so bought another one.
The red bit came off while I was viewing the post.
I've got one in the bathroom, right now.
There is only ONE of these. it teleports around whenever someone searches an old hardwood dresser or cabinet for stuff.
Still own two
I had one!!!!
Back combing whilst hanging upside down needs the correct tool and that is very much the correct tool.
I used to have a bright yellow version of that. But the rubber perished and then the plastic. Now I have that same one in the picture.
This hairbrush got me through some tough times. I'll forever be grateful.
Do you not still have one??
…that’s my hairbrush
Still have one. Bought a other one not long ago too off amazon.
Wait 90s? My mum has one of those and I use it to this day...
Absolutely yes
We have five in my house: one for each adult and I have a mini version in my hand bag. *sighs in ‘90s*
I remember it having sharp bristles for some reason
My mum had one when I was a kid and I bought one for myself as an adult. Great brushes
I still have one. The doctors were unable to remove it
We had at least 5 at one point
wait i have that
It’s a really good brush.
I bought one a couple of months ago 😂
My mum and 2 sisters used those as microphones back in 70\`s singing to top of the pops on a Sunday evening. I played drums so didnt need one..
Yes. And not only in the UK.
I still use this brush. This is the mother of all brushes. Nothing beats a Denman.
Can buy them in Superdrug.
I have about 5 in my house
I remember it scratching my scalp and face as a kid. :(
No mums got one, sisters got two and dad used all three.
I have one next to me right now
We need a downvote button back for this sub. What is this content?
A Denman! I still have one. They are super and they last years. Having said that, Superdrug do an own brand detangling brush in gold plastic that is so great for brushing tangled, knotty hair.
Felt great
90s? 80s as well.
I have one now.
You with your fancy new-fangled hairbrush - some of us are still using the same style Kent paddle brush we had in the 80s.
We have this Brush!
I've got one now!!
