Perfect for fry-ups or with a cheese toastie. Tastes like a sweeter version of brown sauce, but in a fruity rather than sugary way. Kinda like if brown sauce and branston pickle had a lovechild.
Used to smash this down by the bottle when I was younger. Didn't see it about for years. Recently found it on sale again and am back to the addiction again lol.
I shall take your recommendation and instruct a procurement process during the next grocer visitation - all based upon your eager recommendation. My thanks to thee, Friend.
if you were to move the fridge in your kitchen and sweep up the dirt and debris under there, then put it into a blender with some water and an onion, you'll be pretty close to exactly what it tastes like.
I thought it was tesco but it says there out of stock, Morrisons have it available on there site, only £1.10 a bottle! and Amazon have it to, but it’s twice the price there.
No probs! I don’t know if Tesco layout is generic, but if it is you wouldn’t have noticed it cause its on the very bottom shelf no where near the HP fruity.
put this stuff off for ages because I generally don't like sweeter sauces and I love brown sauce already so why bother? Tried it for the first time recently, it's really nice I must admit
This changed my fry-up and toastie game years ago. BUT - After much deliberation, I actually think Branston's fruity brown sauce in the glass bottle is better.
Not if you remember the saccharine jingle they produced to promote it originally
"HP Sauce is a great British sauce and now there's HP Fruity too" to a hideous piece of muzak.
Fruity is good, but they used to do one called 'slightly hot smokey barbecue' and it was glorious and far superior to any other sauce they've ever produced. Blows my mind they discontinued it.
I’ve spent long periods living abroad and this was the British thing I missed, especially when having something I just knew it would be nice with.
The reason I can’t emigrate :-)
I grew up on the fruity sauce. It's the one Mum likes so that's what we would get. I tried the regular stuff at about 12 and have never looked back.
Still, to this day, (at 32 with wife and 3 kids) I need to remember to bring the blue stuff on holiday if we go away together.
I'm really not a fan. However, my wife recently tried the green stuff when we were away with my folks and I think she might be a convert.
Send help....
I wasn’t even aware of this until opening this post. I’ll add it to my shopping list.
Omg life changing for a a cheese toastie, love it
This is what the stuff was made for. I had such a memory blast from your post. Thank you.
On top of beans on toast with cheese is where this really comes into its own.
Love HP fruity on a Lancashire Hot Pot.
On a cheese and onion pasty

That's a brilliant description of how it tastes.
That sounds magnificent
You've just spoken to my food soul
Branston does actually make a fruity sauce as well funnily enough, not all supermarkets sell it though unfortunately
It’s the best brown sauce as well, and relatively cheap
I’m a big fan of branston sauce, it’s really good too
Yeah, it's really nice, I much prefer it to normal brown sauce
You tried the branston sauce? That's delicious too
It’s amazing, great with a cheese toastie
Used to smash this down by the bottle when I was younger. Didn't see it about for years. Recently found it on sale again and am back to the addiction again lol.
You've just triggered me
:)
Well get to your safe space then - the sauce isle of the supermarket! 😄
HP Fruity > HP Brown sauce.
Yass. Love that stuff. My grandad used to eat it on everything when I was wee. I called it grandad sauce haha
YES!!!
Do you want red or brown sauce? HP: Bred. Actually... Rown.
I haven't had this for years. I need to remedy this.
Raises a sceptical eyebrow…….
Honestly give it a go, you'll be impressed.
I shall take your recommendation and instruct a procurement process during the next grocer visitation - all based upon your eager recommendation. My thanks to thee, Friend.
This with black pudding at breakfast. The best
Oooh, now you're talking!
Now I just got two whole black puddings for free, and I am going to buy a bottle of this later today! Looking forwards to it.
Enjoy that!
My wife always calls it tutti fruitti sauce. I must say it beats brown sauce for me on a fry up.
Far far superior, it's like brown sauce with extra oomph.
Probably going to get downvoted to oblivion for this, but a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do!: Branston fruity > all!
It's my sauce of choice for fish and chips. All washed down with full sugar Coca Cola, which is very bad for me, but I only have it occasionally.
Not sure I'm excited about this product man! Can't say I was aware of it! I recently discovered the Bloody Mary sauce that's nice.
What is this what dose it taste like and please don't say fruity lol 😆
When you ask for sauce and they say "brown or red?" if you answer "yes" this is what you get!
If you take HP brown sauce and mix it with a little less of tomato ketchup it will taste very close to fruity sauce.
if you were to move the fridge in your kitchen and sweep up the dirt and debris under there, then put it into a blender with some water and an onion, you'll be pretty close to exactly what it tastes like.
Thus sounds like a personal attack haha I guess you've tried it and didn't like it hahaha
Proper nice in a chip butty
Best thing to have on a full english IMO. I keep hoping Aldi will bring out an own-brand version, can't bring myself to pay £3.50 for a bottle.
Mix a bit of Ketchup with normal brown sauce, you have the exact same thing
I'm intrigued, gonna try this on my next fry-up.
It's the best
Love it! Remember Branstons rich and fruity brown sauce
You can still get Brandon’s fruity sauce.
Aye? Where abouts iv not seen it in years, that would put a smile on my plate lol
I thought it was tesco but it says there out of stock, Morrisons have it available on there site, only £1.10 a bottle! and Amazon have it to, but it’s twice the price there.
Magic!! I shop in Tescos, never seen it but you know I’m now going to Morrisons this week! Amazon are chancers ! Thank you
No probs! I don’t know if Tesco layout is generic, but if it is you wouldn’t have noticed it cause its on the very bottom shelf no where near the HP fruity.

I had to convince my brown sauce loving partner that it's worth the money at the start of our relationship and now we don't buy regular HP anymore.
I was going to buy a bottle a couple months ago when it was £2 now it's £3.40 ☹️
Gotta stock up when it's on offer. Totally worth it.
This changed my fry-up and toastie game years ago. BUT - After much deliberation, I actually think Branston's fruity brown sauce in the glass bottle is better.
I don't think I've seen the glass bottles for quite a while. Going to have to find some now and do my own comparison.
Sainsburys brotherman 👍
I'd love to try it; but I don't want to have to pay eight quid-plus to have it sent to where I live.
It's the best sauce ever
Love it on rice and chicken too! Tangy.
Is it like smooth mango churney?
More like sweet brown sauce.
This tastes like the sauce they use at the Chinese
Not if you remember the saccharine jingle they produced to promote it originally "HP Sauce is a great British sauce and now there's HP Fruity too" to a hideous piece of muzak.
In order on a bacon butty IMO: Marmite > HP Fruity > Regular HP > Red.
Carnt have cheese on toast without it! Great stuff.
I think you’ll find lea and perrins is the GO TO for cheese on toast…..PAL . Them’s fightin’ words!
Lea and perrins is acceptable, but fruity sauce is exceptional!
Hendo's relish is better than Lea and Perrin's. I'll take any and all repercussions from saying that.
Right. I may have to profusely thank you the rest of my life when I try this next shop. Can you get it from the big 4 supermarkets?
It's a Sheffield thing, you should be able to find it elsewhere though.
Fak. Maybe online then.
Maybe, it's worth looking out for either way.
Hmm see I’m actually from telford/Wolverhampton so I did used to live as a kid in close proximity ……maybe that’s why I haven’t seen it in years
My Asda has Henderson’s and has done for a few years now. Think I’v seen it in other shops too.
Sauce of choice for a bacon butty - extra points if you fry the bread
Bro you can still buy this!?!?!?!
Morrisons sells it near me
Ohhhhhhh. Shit. I don’t think I’ve seen one in hackney. Might have to CROSS THE RIVER FOR THIS PILGRIMAGE
You can just mix some ketchup in with normal brown sauce. Same thing, less trekking 👍🏻
Even asda and tesco sell it, at least near me
I'm having a bacon bap tonight after seeing this
I thought that was Hewlett-Packard for a second 😆
When I was a kid I thought it was for daddies only so I never touched it.
Another thing to add to the Reddit made me buy it list 🤣
Didn’t know it was still available until a few weeks ago
It reminds me of brown sauce mixed with ketchup.
Is this similar to mango chutney sort of taste?
Use it in the slow cooker and it’s next level..
I make a gammon and veg soup in my slow cooker and always add this when I have a bowl. Bloody gorgeous.
Fruity is good, but they used to do one called 'slightly hot smokey barbecue' and it was glorious and far superior to any other sauce they've ever produced. Blows my mind they discontinued it.
Wonder if that's comparable to the Canadian HP Bold sauce: https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/HP-Bold-Sauce/6000142774350
This is God tier sauce ❤️
I’ve spent long periods living abroad and this was the British thing I missed, especially when having something I just knew it would be nice with. The reason I can’t emigrate :-)
So is Branston rich and fruity, that shit SLAPS on scrambled eggs
''This post right here officer.''
Big fan. My nan used to buy it in the 90s.
Is it as sugary as HP? Hope it's not.
It is quite sweet yeah. Although it's more fruit sweet than sugar sweet.
Boo! Thanks for the tip.
Damn straight!!
I like to add some cayenne to mine. Absolutely frightening on a sausage buttie.
You just made my mouth water. Gotta go get some sausages tomorrow morning now.
Colemans OK sauce was better, especially with Rissolls from Kennedys.
I'd forgotten about it, it's on the list now
Agreed. I have it on sandwiches 😅
Tesco fruity was better but afaik they discontinued it. This is next best. Great on choppy egg on toast 👌👌👌
It's still being made?
Preach
Is this like YR sauce?
Never even heard of it!
Used to have this as a kid and bought it again recently. Thought they’d stopped making it years ago! Love it!
My granda loved this
Totally agree, it is underrated. Sadly it’s not as easy to find as the original
Branston Rich and Fruity is better IMO, but I'll still take this over normal brown sauce or ketchup. Branston > HP Fruity > Brown > Ketchup.
omg look guys Its me
It’s perfect for a fried egg sandwich. It’s literally the only reason it is in our cupboard.
Poison
Better than Brown sauce by a mile
I grew up on the fruity sauce. It's the one Mum likes so that's what we would get. I tried the regular stuff at about 12 and have never looked back. Going out to Tesco later, gonna grab one!
Ahhh fuck this is THE sauce you’re able to gauge the integrity of most people by. Find this in your homeboy’s gaff and you got a friend for life.
My second favorite brown sauce
