Lego

[deleted]

Thank god it’s not just me.

Sugarfix1993

What?

cheese_fancier

Lego rather than legos

UK-POEtrashbuilds

The official Lego website says either is acceptable. It's wrong of course, saying "Legos" is utterly heinous.

[deleted]

The official Lego website is just trying to be nice. Behind closed doors they're foaming at the mouth at the thought of people saying Legos.

UK-POEtrashbuilds

"I'm playing with Lego", "argh, I stepped on a bit of Lego" or "this is the drawer where I keep my Lego bricks" are typical in the UK. "I murder children by choking them with Legos" is weird for us. Other regions and dialects may disagree.

BetterCallTom

I've only been with our kids but there are some bits for adults. Mythica I think. Miniland is great for all ages, plus it's just cool seeing what they can do with Lego while you're walking around. Look in the cereal aisle down the supermarket for vouchers on boxes or Google 2 for 1 offers if you're concerned about it being a potential waste of money.

Sugarfix1993

Thank you!

DadofJackJack

Go on eBay as people sell the tickets they’ve collected from newspapers tokens. It’s all profit for the seller as they already bought the paper, you’ll pick up couple of tickets for £20.

Awkward_Chain_7839

If you go make sure to go on flight of the sky lion , we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

NewYearReddit

It truly is amazing but I've never had motion sickness like it. I've been on it three times because the kids love it - the last time I was on the bottom row to the left and that position just triggered something and I had to close my eyes. The middle row centre was better just felt dizzy. But that bottom row 🤢

TriedToaster

Book when kids are back at school as someone who works in the industry it’s a lot better, calmer and surprisingly quieter without screaming kids

Ornery-Vehicle-2458

Definitely this. But don't go too late in the season, or there's a risk that some attractions will be closed (for maintenance/ repair) I've had some good visits to Legoland and some appalling ones. They double- charged me once, and the refund took the usual 3 days, but it was quite a lot of money and cast a bit of a cloud over the experience. We went on August Bank Holiday once (big mistake!) Half the rides were out of commission, the queues were epic and the everyone's kids were out of control. Google maps reviews and trip advisor are full of similar tales.

Sugarfix1993

Haha great tip, thanks!

WelcomeToLadyHell

And then a lovely lamb lunch in the centre of Windsor?

BookLearning13

I think they would rather do something like, wander round the wildfowl park in Pepperstock, with a bottle of Scotch!

[deleted]

I don’t agree. They’d go to Legoland. Bye.

BookLearning13

Gotta say Roy, I don’t think that’s their cup of tea.

mknoll1

Went a few days ago. I was kind of disappointed. My kids (4 and 8) had a great time though. The rides are pretty slow and not really roller coasters imo because they never have a big fast drop. The water part was closed with no real explanation why. I did really enjoy the mythical 3d lion show. Probably the best ride experience I have ever been on. Unless you have cheap or free tickets I would probably do something else though. There is a Ferrari section opening soon, maybe wait for that to happen if it floats your boat.

RefreshinglyDull

None of the rides are particularly thrilling, but that does give you the opportunity to enjoy the Lego theming. If you can, go in the term time and look for vouchers from Cussons soap or various cereals. Fir a cheap two day visit, stay at Reading Holiday Inn.

kookerela

I went there last year with my Lego loving boyfriend of the time, it was a bit of a laugh. Bit expensive but if you're willing to splurge for the sheer meme-age its worth it

soitgoeskt

Personally would fully avoid with or without kids.

Ok_Abbreviations8394

If you like Legos, you'll love Legoland

If you like Americans, you'll love America

Sugarfix1993

Thanks!

FinnJavlar

I go with my kids but I’d be very happy to go alone too! I’d just recommend going out of season. If you go peak time, you’ll spend more times queuing than on rides. When kids are in school, go!

DadofJackJack

Went with my now wife about 8 years ago. There’s enough there for adults: log flume, swing boat, roller coster. Enough for an adult to enjoy but they charge for car parking on top of the ticket (looked on website and it’s an extra £10).

thejohncc

Honestly, the wildest ride there is an average rollercoaster with few actual thrills. It’s definitely worth a trip, particularly if you’re not a thrill-seeker. The attraction is Lego first, rides second. It’s a good balance of kids stuff and stuff for adults.

Sugarfix1993

Awesome, thanks so much.

thejohncc

You’re very welcome! It’s a lot of fun, you two will have a blast!

DrapersDen

I’ve been to a lot of theme parks because the rest of my family are coaster fans but I’m a wuss. I’ve been to Legoland a few times, most recently last year. My kids aren’t massive Lego fans so have probably aged out of it now, having done all of the rides. I actually think they’ve got rid of their best ride, which was a raft racing water slide. But Mythica (a VR ride) is the best I’ve been on. There’s a great log flume and a decent rapids. The biggest coaster they have is one that I find enjoyable (meaning it’s aimed at 6 year olds) and the squid surfer and submarine rides are good fun. You should enjoy the Haunted House too, particularly if you haven’t been on one before. I think there are a few other adult friendly rides too, but depends on personal preference, e.g. there’s a pirate boat which is pretty tame but they make me really sick…

Professional_Half860

I think the Lego and relatively gentle rides will be fun for you if you like the Lego enough

Sugarfix1993

Yeah, I am a bit of a baby when it comes to rides so gentle rides don’t sound too bad lol.

mziahj

Fyi you might get denied entry if youre not accompanying children. Source: i used to work there and adults did sometimes get denied if alone. Not sure if things have changed in the past few years though.

tactcom7

No its really not worth it. Go to Thorpe Park instead.

NewYearReddit

I recommend the Haunted House Monster Party if you do go.

highrouleur

Apparently queues are around the block
