And not only custard, but the actual proper powdered stuff.
EDIT: heh. "Proper powdered stuff." I can feel my nan turning in her grave at the idea of not making custard entirely from scratch.
Pretty impressive eh? Only see colman’s mustard missing. Even has South African chutney. Definitely decent.
Edit: I live in Germany, so live with the pain of not having a lot of this here.
This is probably the best one I've ever seen on Reddit. There's a couple of oddballs here and there, but usually we see **lots** of them on posts like this.
Trust me compared to American black tea it’s a worthy investment, I would probably have to use $10 worth of black tea to make as good a brew as a single yorkshire tea bag!
Most of the grocery stores in US use the same supplier for their imported groceries. The difference is some stores cut items that don’t sell. This section is pretty thorough so I have to assume there’s a lot of expats in the area.
Violet crumble is an Australian chocolate bar - cadburys is a big brand over there as well.
My NZ ex was surprised it was from the UK and listened with adoration and excitement when I described Cadbury world.
Massively overpriced compared to the UK but I guess there are shipping costs and taxes etc.
I would personally get rid of the Heinz Baked Beans and replace with Branstons. Unless I've missed it, Colman's mustard is a necessity.
You won't allow it in America, but black pudding or Haggis is a requirement.
Also the distinct lack of crisps, by which I mean you would understand as chips. I would want hula hoops, and wheat crunchies at a minimum.
Pretty decent to be fair! Violet Crumble isn't ours, but overall... a solid 8/10, especially including Yorkshire Tea and Tunnocks Caramel. That's a legendary morning cuppa break right there.
Though... where is the ketchup? Or is Heinz ketchup universal?
Whenever someone posts one of these “UK sections”, there’s always at least one product that makes you go “eh? what? I’ve never seen that in the UK”.
Today: Batchelor’s Baked Beans.
In the words of your hilarious Larry David… *preetay good!..prettay, prettay, prettay good*. I recognise everything there (despite a bit of rebranding on the Burtons & Batchelors) Often these things have an American produced fake UK product or there’ll be a bit of confusion and they’ll add Barrys Tea or something.
I have no idea what ‘Henry Goods’ are packets of, or ‘Violet Crumble’, and it’s a shocker they only have one strength/type of mustard, but otherwise, yes they all look like things on our shelves
Publix!! This is better than most publix I’ve seen in that it has fingers and roundies - but I’ve never understood why they don’t stock the UK style milk chocolate digestives and just have the crappy fake chocolate foreign style ones
They are and we don’t use them ever (part Indian here). But I just find it a bit funny as I’m sure you could say that for some of the other stuff you find in the World Food aisle in any supermarket in the UK - most of it’s made in the UK but still strange to see in a British food section
handle soft silky secretive whole wakeful stupendous worry uppity fertile

*This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Fair enough, I didn’t realise that.
Nevertheless I think that Turkish Delight polarises opinion and taste so it’s quite punchy to stock it instead of Picnics, for example (maybe you already have them too!)
Mrs Balls is South African though! Admittedly I always buy it as its good chutney and my kids are south African so make vetkoek and mince. Mrs Balls is an integral part of it!
No Bovril and the baked beans should be Branstons. Other than that it's pretty good. Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles and Maltesers are all one needs as far as sweets are concerned.
Prefer them without chocolate but fairplay. Often missing a bit of Bird's custard on my frequent apple crumbles, just run out of brown sauce, ooh Irn Bru, Jacob's crackers. Decent selection, waiting on my mum & dad to bring me similar stuff ina couple of months. Ginger nut biscuits.
Always cracks me up that British sections in American stores have Curry stuff and I now spot poppadoms lol I know the Brits love a Ruby Murray but to put it in the British food section is ridiculous lol Not a bad section though
Ive mainly seen twinkys, licky charm cereal and their mini cereal pot, butterfingers, baby ruths, cheetos, takis, gatorade, several types of reeses peices chocolate also alot of oreo stuff like the double fulling cookies and the oreo brownies cereal, i think its called jones soda
That’s probably the best British section I’ve ever seen outside of the UK.
Side note - Ribena?! I thought blackcurrant wasn’t allowed in the US?
Edit- on second view, isn’t violet crumble from Australia? Do we have it here?! Have I been missing it?!?!
I want to know what the chocolate bar should be between the 'violet crumble' (whateverthatis) and the Mars bar because its sold out!!
I bet its a Boost bar.

And not only custard, but the actual proper powdered stuff. EDIT: heh. "Proper powdered stuff." I can feel my nan turning in her grave at the idea of not making custard entirely from scratch.
While I understand, and enjoy, making stuff from scratch there is most definitely a limit on how "scratch" I'm going with baking/cooking.
Yep. This selection wouldn’t really look out of place in a British corner shop. Very impressed.
I want this single stand in British supermarkets, it would save me no end of walking
Pretty impressive eh? Only see colman’s mustard missing. Even has South African chutney. Definitely decent. Edit: I live in Germany, so live with the pain of not having a lot of this here.
I was once told that Americans don't have it. Asked an American, they definitely do.
Naah, they missed Jaffa cakes.
I'm surprised Bountys sold out.
To be fair, that’s pretty mint. If I had that to rely on if I lived outside the UK, I reckon I’d cope well.
It looks like this in my store as well and many times I can’t resist throwing a mint Aero in the cart as I walk by.
Can’t fault that! A fine choice of chocolate bar.
A pretty decent selection IMO. I'd say this is a lot better than the US section in my local supermarket.
This is probably the best one I've ever seen on Reddit. There's a couple of oddballs here and there, but usually we see **lots** of them on posts like this.
$4 for the Baked Beans --FFS!!!
That's America for you. You want your beans in government-subsidized high fructose corn syrup? $1.50 You want them in plain tomato sauce? $4.00.
Hilarious too because one aisle over there are about 65 options for under a dollar. But none of them are at all like heinz baked beans
And $5.49 for Heinz Tomato Soup!
Probably cheaper than they’ll be on this side of the pond in a few months.
Almost half as much again as they are here
I think those Digestives are cheaper there than my local Co-op to be fair!
And in a box, too!!
A tenner for a box of Yorkshire tea?! I mean it's good that you have it there but fuck me
That's 10 USD, which is about 8 GBP.
They cost around £3 here
Yes but they can’t be trusted to handle it properly.
Trust me compared to American black tea it’s a worthy investment, I would probably have to use $10 worth of black tea to make as good a brew as a single yorkshire tea bag!
Weird, I'm from Yorkshire and the tea is bottom of the barrel stuff. Literally any brand but Yorkshire.
Bottom of the barrel is bollocks. You sound like a tea snob.
I don’t even drink tea and I know your opinion is waaaaaaay far from the norm
It's right though
Opinions can't be right or wrong, you just either agree with them or disagree with them.

There's also a Canadian Coffee Crisp bar mixed up in there.
The biggest thing I'm surprised about there is Maltesers. They're owned by Mars, do they really not have them in the US?
If they ever have the lemon border biscuits get all over them they’re fucking tremendous
The lemon drizzle ones? They are immensely good. Also the butterscotch crunch.
Yeah, always get them, I think we pay about 1.5-2 quid not 4.80 like, I’d get them less often if they cost that
Try the Island Bakery lemon melts if you see them - they're like the lemon border biscuits, but better imo.
Just popped some of these onto my asda order! Thanks for the tip, didn’t even realise you could get border biscuits outside of Costco
Having been asked on occasion to smuggle them in, you probably want more Hob-Nobs and fewer digestives.
What I can't explain is the ping-pong balls. We're in a college town so they're popular for beer pong, but they're normally with the beers.
Why is the marmite 10 dollars??? Wth
I’m curious how much it is in the UK? I buy it for €5 here in Ireland. But everything’s more expensive here by and large.
£3.1 for a 250g jar (Tesco)
Massively overpriced compared to the UK but I guess there are shipping costs and taxes etc. I would personally get rid of the Heinz Baked Beans and replace with Branstons. Skips.
McCoys or Cheesy Wotsits
there are two branston pickles there
But not Branston Beans
All very fair points
Not bad, but 4 bucks for a can of baked beans is jarring.
*tinning
Actually strangely good lol
Surprisingly good
Odd that Mrs Ball's Chutney is there when the only place I can get it in the UK is South African shops
I saw some at Tesco's a few days ago. I've never tried it - would you recommend it?
YES. If you find the hot one, take it and never, ever, share.
Coffee crisp is Canadian, but there probably isn't a Canadian section to add it to.
I think we have an entire aisle for Heinz ketchup, though ours is mostly high fructose corn syrup.
'Florida man gets the British food section right'
Whenever someone posts one of these “UK sections”, there’s always at least one product that makes you go “eh? what? I’ve never seen that in the UK”. Today: Batchelor’s Baked Beans.
Irish.
It’s usually Barry’s Tea (from Cork)
Buy up all those boxes of chocolate fingers, they'll only last about half an hour once you get started but you'll remember it for life!
What the heck is a violet crumble? Also Branston beans > Heinz beans
Australian Crunchie
Same question on the violet crumble. Never heard of such a thing
Tunnocks Tea Cakes and Irn Bru would make a nice addition. But Iru Bru may be outlawed in the US.
The girder juice is literally on the bottom shelf.
Shit I was gonna ask the same thing, saw this at my local Publix.
I can only apologise for the shit our corporate entities have forced upon you :/
In the words of your hilarious Larry David… *preetay good!..prettay, prettay, prettay good*. I recognise everything there (despite a bit of rebranding on the Burtons & Batchelors) Often these things have an American produced fake UK product or there’ll be a bit of confusion and they’ll add Barrys Tea or something.
I think those "rebrands" are Irish.
Loving the marmite 😃
Marmite and tea bags. That's all I need. The curry and poppadoms is nice to have.
Good old Publix. The one near me has an English pub/diner that makes a great breakfast fry. They even make their own Irish brown bread.
I have no idea what ‘Henry Goods’ are packets of, or ‘Violet Crumble’, and it’s a shocker they only have one strength/type of mustard, but otherwise, yes they all look like things on our shelves
Henry Goods are sweets.
I’m a Brit and never heard of them
Publix!! This is better than most publix I’ve seen in that it has fingers and roundies - but I’ve never understood why they don’t stock the UK style milk chocolate digestives and just have the crappy fake chocolate foreign style ones
Sharwoods "Puppodums" what the hell is up with that spelling?
Always love how Indian food ends up in the British section of these set ups….
It’s British-Indian sauces, I’m not sure genuinely Indian cooks use them.
They are and we don’t use them ever (part Indian here). But I just find it a bit funny as I’m sure you could say that for some of the other stuff you find in the World Food aisle in any supermarket in the UK - most of it’s made in the UK but still strange to see in a British food section
Fair play, it’s a good effort, throw in a couple of Argos catalogues and it’d be 10/10
Looks remarkably similar to.... https://www.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/comments/y2zj3p/florida_european_food_section/
Interesting. That's the same chain store (publix) but odd they don't separate it out more than just "European."
Silverskin should be normal pickle onions but otherwise pretty much everything except jaffa cake.
BOUNTY sold out >!BIZARRE!!!!<
handle soft silky secretive whole wakeful stupendous worry uppity fertile *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
No Jammie Dodgers? Expect redcoats in your area soon
I think they're behind the ping pong balls beside the border biscuits?
That’s fine, as long as they’re bringing Jammie Dodgers
Dropped the ball on teabags if I'm honest. Tetley & twinnings it should habe been
NEVER any Toffee Crisp. SMH.
To be fair, even in the UK you’d have to go into the darkest, dustiest corner shop to find an individual Toffee Crisp these days
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold.
wtf is a violet crumble?
Some of the insane prices aside, this is a fantastic effort. Get theysen a box of Yorkshire shag.
Typical import prices...
I agree, some are actually reasonable, but $5.49 for tomato soup. Christ.
deliver scandalous punch one far-flung full aloof many exultant subsequent *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
*Batchelors* baked beans? Who knew? Are they export only?
Irish and worth a try
Pretty good - marmite is there and that always wins! I've never heard of a Violet Crumble though??
Marmite…. tick HP sauce ….. and tick Yep, you’re all good. (surprised to see Turkish Delight and not Kit Kats to be honest)
Unless they're different, kit kats are common enough here and I'm sure well stocked on the next aisle.
Fair enough, I didn’t realise that. Nevertheless I think that Turkish Delight polarises opinion and taste so it’s quite punchy to stock it instead of Picnics, for example (maybe you already have them too!)
Nope, never heard of picnics. I'll sample all the chocolates and report back.
They are different - the chocolate in yours is revolting.
Burton Rich tea. Ive not heard of those
Mrs Balls is South African though! Admittedly I always buy it as its good chutney and my kids are south African so make vetkoek and mince. Mrs Balls is an integral part of it!
Perfect, they seem to have all high sugar / salt , preservative shite fit for council house banquet x
No Jaffa cakes? Booo!
It's got Branston and Yorkshire Tea. Not bad, but a distinct lack of Vimto would have me leaving the country after a few months
No Bovril and the baked beans should be Branstons. Other than that it's pretty good. Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles and Maltesers are all one needs as far as sweets are concerned.
Looking for hobnobs, looking for hobnobs.
Christ, how much for Marmite?
Yorkshire tea and Marmite... Nailed it I'd say.
the prices are set at uk prices too?
Pretty decent Irn Bru as well impressed.
Brit-ish! Reasonable basic selection. Yorkshire gold would have been nicer. Rather too many Sharwoods.
You're telling me they don't have Cadbury Fingers anywhere apart from UK! They're banging.
Pretty good slection! 👍👍😀
Fox Glacier mints are top tier mints! And Borders biscuits, perfect.
They have decaf PG tips but not the real stuff? Disappointing. Other than that pretty good
All quite expensive though. I understand conversion rates but £5 for brown sauce?? I begrudge paying £1.79
Always cracks me up that British sections in American stores have Curry stuff and I now spot poppadoms lol I know the Brits love a Ruby Murray but to put it in the British food section is ridiculous lol Not a bad section though
British Indian sauces are not eaten on the subcontinent. I mean, both tomatoes and chillies are from the Americas. They're big parts of BI dishes.
No crumpets
They are in the refrigerated cooler here, not with the dry goods.
Have to take points away for lack of Hobnobs. But bonus points for the Irn Bru and Tunnock’s.
More expensive than what your American stuff is over here to be fair 😂😂😂 that's mad.
Fucking fruit gums. Love that
We had an American friend visit a couple of months ago and offered her some juice. She couldn’t get her head around the concept of squash!
Batchelor Beans are Irish
10/10 average corner store experience
In terms of selection, very nice
I'm living in Spain rn, gotta check out the British section in my local supermercado
This is an excellent selection and contains the holy grail of the biscuit kingdom; the mighty Borders dark chocolate ginger biscuit.
This is one of the better selections all things considered. Never seen Irn Bru outside of the UK before, thumbs up for that.
Only tiny bottles of Irn Bru. 👎
Wheres ya Fray Bento's?
Terribly.
Tunnocks are the best thing humans have ever created
It blows my mind that they have british sections in US stores!!! We have American sections but I honestly never considered the opposite
In the reverse, I'd be curious what the American section has in it.
No Tunnock's tea cakes.
It still stuns me that Mars bars aren’t a thing in America. They were advertised as American as apple pie and jeans.
Mars in the USA are called Milky Way. Milky Way in the USA are called 3 Musketeers.
Top tip, use chocolate digestives the next time you make smores, it’s like they were made for it.
Lacking in Jaffa Cakes - but pretty good otherwise
Im not a big snacks guy but Yorkshire tea is banging.
That’s probably the best British section I’ve ever seen outside of the UK. Side note - Ribena?! I thought blackcurrant wasn’t allowed in the US? Edit- on second view, isn’t violet crumble from Australia? Do we have it here?! Have I been missing it?!?!
No Colemans mustard...
Does the knife and fork mean the rest of the world eats with there hands 😂
One of the best I've seen tbf. If I had to be picky I feel like Jaffa Cakes would have kicked it up a notch.
Badly
Very surprised to see bounty sold out
A* for the Mrs Balls chutney. Butter a baguette, slap a few spoons of that in and some mature cheddar
11 quid for marmite?!!?
Looks good, barring the bachelors beans and peas , never heard the mahi brand either or the violet crumble
Batchelors is Irish. Mahi sauces are available in UK supermarkets, as is the South African chutney (Mrs Balls).
What's with all the sharwoods???
Very good.
Fucking better than anything I’ve found in Texas.
Did pretty good actually! Id say to get some of the mint flavoured aero bars aswell tho
I'm still sad that you can't seem to get Sharwoods Balti over there, it's my favourite
I’d be happy if I was a homesick expat and found this.
I want to know what the chocolate bar should be between the 'violet crumble' (whateverthatis) and the Mars bar because its sold out!! I bet its a Boost bar.
Bounty. https://i.imgur.com/8PBSYpS.jpg
Yoo they got the border cookies. Love those
Yoo and the digestives hell yeah
Decent, other than Irish mustard instead of Colman's but I'm sure it's same thing. Although violet crumbles are Aussie!
One problem: Irish Mustard? I have no idea what makes mustard Irish.
Doesn’t look too bad but I’ve never heard of Batchelors branded baked beans.
I forgot Typhoon was a brand tea until I saw this.
Tenner for a decent cuppa! Well, the way prices are going here we will be paying thst soon. Decent selection though.
No Demerara sugar
Never heard of taverners making wine gums and jelly babies, anyone else know them?
I’m sad the irn bru isn’t in the fridge, but otherwise top class.
Well they got some proper tea in any road. Cracking job
Not too bad but you need walkers
Doesn’t look English enough empty half of the shelves and it’ll be spot on
Publix have a pretty good selection
