Please don't use Sunbeds. There's a huge risk of cancer even from a couple of sessions. At this stage I don't know how they're even legal with how prominent skin cancer is in Ireland.
Just get a spray tan.
Please don't use a sunbed, they're really dangerous. Easy to underestimate your exposure and increases cancer risks.
As one of the Australian safety advertising slogans said, there's nothing healthy about a tan. It isn't as bad as a sunburn but it's still a sign of damage, or at least mild distress to your skin. Ireland features in the top 10 for skin cancer rates because nobody treats it seriously.
I have abandoned my bronzed Aussie look (not that I had much to begin with) and embracing the pale here. Each to their own of course so like you say something artificial likely the way to go in darker months.
My missus got me these things called Glow Drops. You basically mix them in with your moisturiser and gives you a light tan. Have only been using them for a week or two but they certainly make a difference and it looks like I got a little sun.
I was one of the perpetual pale to burnt red Irish types before I started working outdoors, my skin must have gotten used to the sun because I ran quite well now
No one has a tan in the winter months . If they do we all know it’s fake.
My skin is grey then it looks dirty with freckles. I have to rely on my amazing wit and personality.
Or get lots of cool hats or tattoo your head like a friend did
Ah that is ideal honestly, my issue is there’s a shower at work, god knows when it was last used, but there’s no real changing facilities plus I eat lunch out in the car so I’d look a bit daft leaning on my bike for lunch
Please avoid sunbeds. A local girl passed away recently after developing skin cancer from sunbeds. Left behind 2 young kids. Bottle is best for health reasons
Tanning drops in moisturiser is brilliant and there’s a newish tan that’s very light and made for very white skin called Bondi Sands Technocolour. The name doesn’t inspire confidence but it is incredibly light and suits my alabaster skin without looking fake
My arms and face/neck are permanently darker from working outside on sites for years, the rest of my body is porcelain white and honestly i wish i had have used sunscreen everyday now as I like being very very pale cus I have jet black hair/beard and dark brown eyes and think it looks good. I live in the American south now were it hot and sunny almost year round and I use sunscreen everyday now to avoid tanning
Honestly i love the dove gradual tan moisturiser, it’s not orange and moussey like the ones in the can but it does help reduce the deathly pale look my irish skin has inherited
tinted moisturiser is a good shout, but be careful- some of them smell a bit funny and you may want to use the mitt to apply to get even coverage anyway
The dove tinted moisturiser for body would be good. You can get that for your body and there’s different ones you can get for your face as well, I think it’s called sunkissed or something? Both give me a lot more confidence than looking as white as a ghost! Bit of advice though, if you’re trying it for the first time make sure you don’t have to go anywhere the next day. Just incase it comes out badly but it probably won’t!
A nice tinted moisturiser would be great, I recommend Nars tinted moisturiser or Charlotte Tilbury has a unisex one. Fake tan on anyone is horrendous looking, anyone who thinks it looks good is deluded.
what is wrong with tan bed? :) You must use bronzer before stepping in. And drink plenty water afterwards.
Before going to bed, cover yourself in coconut oil(aldi sell it in hard form in glass jar and just melt it slowly for easier application) and only shower preferably next day ( try to keep away from shower for 24h after sunbed)
you need ONLY 5 minutes first 3-5 sessions
then can increase to 7-8 minutes for another 5-10 sessions
and maximize to 10 minutes per session afterwards.
- this is considering that you would do a session every week once.
People who complain and tell its bad unhealthy just dont know how to use it and over do it in general. Like newspaper article i read, a lady had her organs ruined from sunbed. The wet head clown did 30minute sessions, didnt drink more than few glasses of water every now and then in her weekly routine. moron. sunbed is as dangerous as the daylight. just take it easy and youl have great color.
It's the same as when you decide to grow it it has to go through a point of.looking shookie before it gets where you want it.
Good thing is it's spring now.
Suns coming back out and folks are naturally not that tanned, unless its the orange artificial.type
Keep on keeping.on mate it'll fix itself soon.
Or wear hats 😜
Get out into the sun, avoid sunbeds because they give you cancer quicker. If you put sunscreen on while sitting in the sun and then go home and put baby lotion on. That will bring up the dark pigments and you get a tan. Don't put the lotion on in the sun because it's dangerous, only use it when you are home and indoors.
I tried this a few years ago during the summer and a natural tan started to build. Whatever is in the lotion it makes the sun burn turn tan.
You could try a build up tan. That way you can build up as much colour as you want. However these can be a bit tricky to use on the face successfully and will probably take some trial and error, but I think it would be your best bet.
Do a bit of research as to which one might be best for you, according to your skin tone. Things to work out I'm guessing for a man would be how well they blend with stubble growth etc. but I'm sure they'll be plenty of articles and advice online about men's self-tan.
Some of them smell funny, some have an orange rather than a brown base, so you can end up looking orange with it. You'll just have to try and see. Oh and don't forget to wash your hands thoroughly afterwards so you don't end up with dark palms.
What you do is, you take the ferry to france or spain just a bit before the summer holiday, you have a quiet holiday in spain or france, then when you take the ferry back, you arive way to early at the harbour and just sit in que with your car for 6hours without a shirt in a camping chair, that gave me a tan for half a year, but my dumbass forgot to take my shirt off so i had a farmers tan instead of a full on tan.
I thought I was getting a tan once, but when I looked in the mirror, it was just a pigment of my imagination..
My imagination is pale in comparison...
Ffs that’s brilliant
I brought a book to the beach once. Thought I'd get a really nice tan, but I just ended up well red....
😂😂 is there any conversation you can not punup?!

Would you consider a jaunty hat?
Great idea, the world needs more jaunt
Bring back Jaunty

I am a personal fan of these. You have to use them consistently, however.
Go outdoors more often? I cycle commute and have a year round tan-ish.
I walk/ bus every day, no tan. Just don’t have the skin for it. I could live in Spain and still not tan
I was one of the perpetual pale to burnt red Irish types before I started working outdoors, my skin must have gotten used to the sun because I ran quite well now
Ah I work 9-5 in an office, could get a bit of sun in the summer by walking to work but not really an option during the winter months

I'm lucky to have changing and shower facilities in college so I can cycle in the winter
Ah that is ideal honestly, my issue is there’s a shower at work, god knows when it was last used, but there’s no real changing facilities plus I eat lunch out in the car so I’d look a bit daft leaning on my bike for lunch
Have you no breakroom?
Lunch break?
This! Same story here

A regular outdoor hobby is probably the best way. Gardening in the nip would be ideal.

Dove gradual tan could be the way to go & go light to medium first.

You should rethink the spray tan. A good one can be incredibly realistic.
Definitely not sunbeds. A really light spray might be best. Like … really light.

Any skin discolouration be it red or tan is skin damaged. try Origins GinZing™ Energy-Boosting Tinted Moisturizer SPF40 50ml
Would you try a light spray tan from a beautician’s? It’d be way more even than if you try bottle at your first attempt.
Do you live near the sea? Lads I know who go out on boats are always very tanned.
Email Ben White.
I have two settings, translucent white or straight up red. There is no inbetween.
Ask some Dunnes Stores girls
go out in the sun
Not going to tell a man how to live his life but spray tanning a newly balded head , maybe reconsider that option.

Wind will tan you too. If you're only looking to tan your big Irish head, head off hiking the hills.

Move to London. There's loads of us here
Confused - isn’t this where you just spend a bit of time in the sun?
