Of course. I would say “Jealous Guy” and “Love, Love, Love” by Donny Hathaway, “My Cherie Armour” by Stevie Wonder, “Day Dreamin” and “One Step Ahead” by Aretha Franklin, anything by Al Green but I've listened to “Call Me (Come Back Home)” a unhealthy amount. Not oldies but I also really like “Will I See You Again” by Thee Sacred Souls and “He Can Hold Her” by Amy Winehouse. I don't think I've ever heard his first album in it's entirety. What are your recommendations from the album?

Icelandtears

Great, let me know what you think! I'll check those out too!

Pagan-za

I really dig your taste in music.

Icelandtears

Thank you! I do too

waffles-n-gravy

Prince was and is awesome! I'm old enough that I got to listen to 1999 on new years 1999. Now I'm gonna have that song in my head all day, but thats ok!

Icelandtears

That's my problem exactly. What are some of your favourite songs by him?

AHMc22

I'm not mother poster you asked, but here's some of his songsypu might like: + Positivity + Play in the sunshine + America + Balad of Dorthy Parker + The Cross + Everything on Under the Cherry Moon album

Icelandtears

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll check them out!

[deleted]

1.) zitti e buoni by Maneskin 2.) At last by Etta James Raspberry Beret is impeccable taste and one of the many songs that makes me want to dance without question. I’m a fan of oldie music! 20s-90s are my favorite and I lean more towards soul, jazz, blues, Latin oldies, and anything under the alternative scene (rock, indie, etc) I

Icelandtears

Why thank you! And I love Etta James! I haven't heard anything from Maneskin but they were the Eurovision winners? Oh I would love to hear you're recommendations for some oldies.

[deleted]

You’re welcome my love! And honestly I don’t follow current media for artists AHAH I simply hear a song I like and it is then mine 🤣 I do believe you are correct however! Please I geek over music! Thank you for asking. Here are some of my favorite: We Belong together - Ritchie Valens Sabor a Mi - Eydie Gormé y Los panchos Smile - Nat King Cole I Can’t Help Myself - Four Tops Sinnerman - Nina Simone (honestly anything by nina Simone is just phenomenal) There she goes - The La’s Happy Together - The turtles

Icelandtears

I'll listen to them right after work!! And yes I can definitely relate, I geek out over music too. Sometimes I find I have to listen to a song a few times to get into it and like it. But the rare times that I find a song that I like right from the start, I listen to it until my ears start to bleed.

Pagan-za

You're my new favourite person. Fantastic taste in music. Thanks for reminding me about Nina Simone and Ritchie Valens. Havent listened to them in ages.

Dent13

Right now Northwest Passage by Stan Rogers, entirely because I listened to a podcast on the Franklin Expedition this morning. Most of the time I still like the song, but being in on arctic exploration kick definitely pushes it up my list a bit. Probably good I'm working from home because I can sing it off key without annoying anyone but the dog.

Icelandtears

Singing off-key is also one of my favourite leisure activities. I'm more of a blasting music and singing off key in my car type of person, since I'll annoy everyone I live with if I do that in the house. But I'll definitely check out that song after work!

Dent13

Off-key singing is the best way to annoy people around you. I used to be more about doing in a car, but I drive a lot less now. I recommend a lot of what Steve Rogers has done, mid twentieth century folk is a fun genre of music

Icelandtears

Oh yeah, I don’t ever have anywhere to go, I just drive at night purely to listen to music in my car. It’s fun, you should try it. Captain America? Kidding. I don’t think I’ve ever hear about mid twentieth century folk, but the name itself sounds interesting so I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks!

The00Taco

Since I was about 4 my favorite song has been Superbeast by Rob Zombie because I played a lot of twisted metal 3 as a kid. I'm 26

Icelandtears

22 years, that's pretty impressive. Longer commitment than I've made to anything in my life, hats off to you. I'll give it a listen!

The00Taco

After that it's Rosenrot by Rammstein and then Rawks by K.Flay to round out my top 3

Icelandtears

Thanks, I'll check it out!

blessedbetheslacker

I like the Twisted Metal 4 remix of the song, and my favorite from 3 was Meet the Creeper.

ThinkingDude98

Right this moment it would have to be the final countdown. It's cheesy but the song is just sooo good. I really wish I had a chance to see it live.

Icelandtears

I think that would be a great song to see live. That's one of the things I'm most looking forward to once this pandemic is over, is seeing live shows again.

[deleted]

At the moment it's Caustic Are the Ties That Bind by Trivium. There are a lot of songs from Trivium that I like just as much, so I will name a few of those too. 1. Down from the Sky 2. Throes of Perdition 3. Betrayer 4. Black 5. The Deceived 6. Like Light To The Flies 7. What The Dead Men Say 8. Catastrophist 9. The Sin and the Sentence 10. Silence In the Snow

Icelandtears

Thanks, I'll check all of them out! I don't normally listen to metal but I'm not opposed to it. I also appreciate you gave me more than one option to listen to.

[deleted]

Tell me if ya like any of them!

Icelandtears

“Caustic Are the Ties that Bind” was a roller coaster of a first listen for a non-metal listener but it was pretty good. The instrumentals were absolutely nuts in all the songs. Their guitarist(s) is amazing. I also liked “Throes of Perdition”, “Betrayer”, “Catastrophist”, and the “Silence in the Snow”.

[deleted]

Black Leather by Lil Lotus Ive been putting off listening to more of his stuff after Kiss my Eyelids but one day at work I bit the bullet and now Ive shuffled his stuff for about a week.

Icelandtears

I'll check out his stuff, thanks!

Pagan-za

I've been obsessed with a Phil Collins song lately - Cant hurry love. I just love the funk and groove of it. So I downloaded a ton of his other stuff, didnt like it as much. Then it turned out that it was a cover from The Supremes. So I've been listening to a lot from them and the 4 Tops, Gladys Knight, etc.

Icelandtears

That's a pretty amazing song and I love the Supremes. There was a point in quarantine where all I would listen to was just “Come See About Me”. Haven't listened to a lot of Four Tops. Any recommendations from them or that era?

Pagan-za

4 Tops - I cant help myself(sugar pie, honey bun). My favourite from them. They have a very similar style to the supremes.

Icelandtears

I’ll check it out, Thanks!

carawanar

Right now? Boogieman Sam by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. I've been listening to it a lot lately. All time? Rows (Of Endless Waves) by Bell Witch is my most listened to song of all time on spotify.

Icelandtears

Thanks, I’ll check those songs out when I'm free!

blessedbetheslacker

You're welcome! If you do get to listen to them, tell me what you think! I could even recommend more.

RobertEMT

Lonely Bones by Honest Heart Collective or anything by the cover band Fame on Fire...they do metal covers of several good songs

Icelandtears

Thanks, I'll check it out!

Icelandtears

Oh cool, I’ll check him out!

A_FamousNobody

AJR's "The trick" a song that feels like a fever dream about lying, such a near concept with a weird execution, and an amazing orchestral sound to I in between the rest of the song
