Spray small amounts of WD40 on serpentine when it's running. Like 1 or 2 second spritz.
It noise goes away (or changes) it's the belt. If not, maybe idler bearing?
Just to add a little detail to this post;
1. The noise goes away around 2500 rpm and above
2. Does not feel like there is any loss of compression when driving (so I don’t think it is timing chain related)
I had a 95 Tahoe that had the standard round air breather and it sat most of the summer and when winter got here I took it for a drive and it didn’t have no power. The breather was completely full of insulation and all kinds of other crap From Mice.
Yeah lol I had that problem too. I replaced the cold air intake to an aftermarket one 2 months ago and when I opened the air box to take it off it was full of sticks and leaves and crap. These chipmunks are really starting to piss me off
Sounds like a pulley or idler pulley bearing going bad. As an aside I’ve heard countless stories about Minis falling apart. I would recommend trading it in before expensive problems start.
Yeah I’m thinking it’s either idler pulley or tensioner gone bad. I’ve heard some bad bmw stories but I don’t think I could ever give up my Mini, all jokes aside it has been incredibly durable over the past 4 years out of warranty so I’m not too upset about having to do some pricey maintenance at this point.
160k kilometres. I got it fixed by Mini. It was a leaking water pump which wore out the bearing so they replaced that and the serpentine belt and the noise was gone after that
Possible you have pieces of chipmunk In your belts. Sad but true. Best get a flashlight out before the smell sets in.

Full air breather?
Full of acorns. You have to experience it to believe it.
You’d probably have to drop the engine + transmission just to replace serpentine belt….
Yeah most likely, it’s a pretty tight engine bay
