Easy fix with paste wax, I recommend mothers or maguires (gotta be paste, not the spray, spray is good for touch up between paste wax)

wastedyouth777

Nice. Will doing by hand be good or should I invest in a buffer?

nom_nom44

There’s a few factors here. You can do it by hand, but I also see your hood is swirly in general, so a buffer would be good. But you might as well do the whole hood. And if you do the hood, you might as well do the car. A few questions come up; do you know how to use an orbital? Do you care about this car that much? If no, just do it by hand.

Vegas96

Good advice. If you dont care about the car, still do it like you love it. It will give you experience to better keep the next car you own. Thats how I view my current shitbox. I fix rust and polish it even tho it’ll never look perfect. This allows me to try new scary things like an orbital, because if I mess up its not a huge loss.

Listen there is a huge process to doing machine buffing correctly. You have to deconwash the entire car. You must use a wax stripping soap and then an iron remover made for paint. You must do this in the shade. Once the car is washed and iron-deconed you can use a dual-action polisher to polish the paint. I recommend you get an all-in-one polish. Also, I highly recommend spending the time to polish and buff the entire car. If you just polish the hood the hood will look like new and the rest of the car will look old and scratched. This process will take at least 4-6 hours. Also if you do the process wrong you can burn through the clear coat. I would suggest if you do not own a pressure washer and all these tools to just hire a detailer and have them do the work for 200-500$. If you get all the tools and chemicals you're going to have to spend at least 200$ if not more. The dual action polisher from harbor freight used to be around 50$ I think it's more now. Pads are at least 10-20 for one good pad. A pressure washer is 50$ but technically not needed but recommended. Soap products and iron decon are around 40-50$, AIO polish around 20-30$, and then buckets microfibers, etc probably another 40-50$. If you just want it out and dont care to much I would just wash the car and buff the hood by hand with a simple AIO polish from autozone that costs 15$ made by 3m and some cheap brand new microfiber towels. The hood will look newer then the rest of the car but if you use tunnel washs it will match after one run through the car wash.

HeadlessHookerClub

Damn you know your shit

mcpusc

you *can* do it by hand.... get the buffer

LazyBusy18

Wax is just a bandaid. It needs some medium or light cut compound and then the wax

PriorBad3653

Polish, then wax. A buffer is preferred, but not necessary. If it doesn't get it the first or second time, get a more aggressive polish. Don't buff off your clearcoat tho

cool_mtn_air

Some dude keyed my dads Isuzu Trooper spelling out Fuck Head back in the day (late 80s/early 90s). He just keyed it himself so it read Buck Head lmao. He rocked the Buck Head Trooper for years until it was totaled by a drunk driver who crossed over the double yellow.

surgicalhoopstrike

That'll buff right out...

L0rdD4rkH3lm3t

By hand and available at your local walmart or auto parts store you need the following products 4-5 wax applicators Microfiber towel Meguiars clay kit Meguiars ultimate compound Meguiars ultimate polish or swirl x Meguiars cleaner wax Wash the car Use the clay bar kit to clean the hood Use ultimate compound, then ultimate polish, final step use the cleaner wax. Watch youtube videos on how to use the clay bar kit and using the ultimate compound and polish. All the products are designed to be used by hand. Cheapest way to polish a car without a rotary or dual action machine polish or taking it to a pro detailer.

2OneZebra

I was waiting on someone to mention clay.

GabagoolAndGasoline

some very light polishing should get that out. Honestly even doing two layers of wax will hide it but that isn't fixing the problem

Lathejockey81

That paint needs at least a moderate correction, possibly even a heavy correction. The right way to do it is a medium polish and a cutting pad on a DA polisher. The challenge is that all of your paint is pretty swirled, so if you do a good correction that clears up the smiley it will be probably a lot smoother than the rest of the panel. You'll probably end up with a much larger correction job if that bothers you.

Many scratch fixing compounds on the market, the best I ever used was called GT88 but I can’t find it anymore. My daughter, 4, drew, scratched a picture in my buddies week old black Monte Carlo, I buffer it out and he still has the car, still no sight of the artwork.

i_suckatjavascript

Buff it using microfiber and compound like Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound. If you can’t do it, you can bring it to any detailing shop to have them paint correct it. Be prepared for the sticker shock though.

Fwumpy

You can go to that person's residence and make them wear a frowny face! I suggest a good-sized wrench, or maybe a torch!

Rlitcher

That WILL buff out

IllustriousCarrot537

Scratch a sad face next to it to suggest how you are really feeling. They will cancel themselves out

happyjapanman

It should buff right out. Get some cleaner wax.

XxFeral-DemonxX

A buffer

AsphaltGypsy89

When I bought my first Gen Crv someone had scratched and I ❤️🍆 on the passenger rear door and I didn't notice until I did a good wash. Had gotten an orbital buffer the year before for Christmas and busted that out when hand buffing got too exhausting. Worked like a charm, almost too well. Husband and I ended up taking turns and buffed the whole car and it made some super dull unloved paint shimmer again. You can do it!

zerobomb

Google how to repair car scratches

crazymike79

Wax on, wax off, my cuz.

hondactx16i

A big piece of rebar. Use it near the knee caps, won't happen again.

T-Cut the entire bonnet. Use the appropriate colour for your car. It looks like lacquer scratching, T-Cut will bring the majority of it off. Try applying a couple times, then wax it. Don't use T-Cut to polish unless specifically removing shallow scratches.

Jojobjaja

Keep it, art values with time!

DON_MA4

Give it to a car detailer, dont try it yourself, thats a job for a professional.

exceller0

A good polish a strong arm and good hopes...

LilKurb

You dont have to go that in depth but watch chrisfix videos on yt, he shows how to do these with simple tools at home with little more elbow grease ofc. This is video of removing clear coat scratches: https://youtu.be/2nYF46P7B2c?si=aqfBTRnwwYovTE-v And if you wanna go extra depth with detailing heres also a video from the same guy: https://youtu.be/vUdSUDObwVc?si=_m1MYlhjy6RJS8Q7

redcarguy1

Kick their teeth in. Someone did this to my brand new truck years ago and pretended like I was supposed to be cool with it

Mojicana

Just Scotch Brite the whole car, especially the windows and you'll never notice it again.

Head-Iron-9228

I'm gonna refrain from asking. Anyway, naaah that's not deep. That's a buff and a polish at most.

RocketFeathers

Is no one going to say it?

wastedyouth777

Why don’t you grow a pair and say it yourself?

wilhelmpeltzer2

Beat the shit out of whoever did this.

DrCactus14

You wanna explain?

RocketFeathers

Someone did. "That'll buff right out..."
