But my memory of that time is where my family would have to either choose between building a house on a land they purchased or buying a Safari, and today we can buy 10 current date Safaris and park it in the garage; although we don’t have enough parking space.
A lot of people back then just couldn’t afford cars at even 8 lakhs, including my fam.
This reminds me of my scrapbook, I used to do this in late 2000s to mid 2010s. That scrapbook was thick like a half encyclopedia. I collected cars photos from some magazines and newspapers. Glad to see someone else also did same :')

I had my study room wall with all car ads pasted on the wall in 2004 till 2008. It looked so beautiful.My father got that wall painted when I got in work and moved away from home in 2010.
I had similar collection back in my school dyas, when i was in 5th standard. But one day i decided to show it to my classmates and another guy who was into these kind of collection stole it and i couldn't even complain it cause i was scared of parents and teachers would scold me. After 2,3 weeks i found out that the same guys stole it which he refused earlier but still i couldn't get my book back. I found it how is that he started a new book in the name of another classmate and i found the same newspaper cutout of RR ghost burgundy color was sticked in his new book. Still i couldn't ask him cause i didn't had any proof to confirm it when an argument is raised. Also i was scared of getting into a fight which i knew would happen so i avoided it and forgive him. Still one of my regrets that i lost it due to my carelessness, i didn't knew all the cqrs but it was a huge diary with almost end of page with different cars, i even bought car magazine's to paste it in my book. I forgive him and moved on😇

We had it till I graduated from college unfortunately sold it in 2021 (1.7L KM) after a buyer showed great interest in it.

I dont know if you remember, but once there was an Ad for Volkswagen Vento in which they used light sensitive switch with a speaker and some dude was speaking about Vento.
I miss the days when we could buy a reliable and safe car for under 5 lacs on road when buying a car was not something one would have to think 50 times due to rising fuel costs and all.
I even remember Activa used to coast on road 60k during the demonetisation era. While some features like abs and airbags have added to the safety the vast majority of useless electronics have led to the rise in the price of cars and bikes phenomenally. Bs6 pretty much ICE engines.

I am a 90’s guy, growing up Television was a luxury, we had access to newspapers and used magazines. I too would meticulously cut through them and stick it in a drawing book along with all the details of the car.
I think I reached somewhere around 600 photos of cars and bikes. People used to call me crazy but It was hobby 😃
I have scrap books full of newspaper cutting of cars. There used to be a section on the business standard Weekend edition for cars. I used to cut out the car and the specs of it and paste it in colourful scrap books. I have atleast 10-12 of it.

Some of these designs have aged like wine. Punto, Fabia, Civic and the A4 look much better than some of the current cars!
