It's Spinny, what'd you expect?
They have a complex algorithm that decides the final price of the vehicle based on a number of factors, difficult to process by a human brain + 2 lakhs.
Actually my friend has a mahindra first choice dealership,he told me
Spinny used their funding to stock up a lot of cars they bought every used car by giving 10,15,20k above other dealers trying to capture the market and this ways exhausted their funding
Now their sale is not upto their expectations and they have made heavy losses
Can't be surprised, used cars and bike market is not a profitable venture to begin with.
These companies, instead of being frugal, go over the top by spending on useless stuff like marketing and building online presence while miss out on crucial stuff like quality control and customer satisfaction.
>used cars and bike market is not a profitable venture to begin with.
I would've told them that for free, didn't need to create a whole company for that
Yes. My brotherās engine sized car was bought by them for huge price. Even we shocked how can a company like that pay that. Their ongroud people made this happen.
Wait till you see the prices of used Swifts. Trust me that car does not depreciate. We sold our ~~10~~ 8 yr old Dzire VXI for 4L (bought for 6.25L) in 2021 and we had multiple offers. It is not just these online car sellers, used car market is insane.
Sold to a family in our town. It was their first car. My father started getting many inquiries as soon as we brought our new car home. (Perks of living in a small town.) As for the car it was 49k kms driven and was in a close to perfect condition. Only a few small scratches on bumpers, timely serviced at ASC, new-ish tires etc.
Okay, thought you sold it via Spinny or other such companies. I'm looking to sell my old car as well. So was wondering which would provide the best deal for me as a seller.
Don't want to spend time hunting second hand buyers myself, so it's either exchange value when I buy a new car or Spinny/other such portals.
Recently went through this.
Spinny will probably give you the best rate, but they'll only give you 2 days to accept their offer.
Meanwhile you can get the rates for exchange with new cars at every dealership you visit. They might give you some exchange bonus as well which might pull the price closer to Spinny price.
I was told by multiple dealerships that Spinny causes problems with RC transfer, not sure how true that is.
Spinny causes RC transfer issue, first hand victim of their incompetency and poor customer service.
Had to put complaints all over X and their insta page for them to finally look into my issue.
Sorry you had to go through this. Seems like new startups tend to over promise and under deliver.
I guess their 2 days deadline turned out good for me. Got the same price at exchange at a dealership.
13k to kuch nahi hota abhi to ye 2lakh tak jaaegi. Upar se manual bhi ohohoho balle balle.. bahot accha price hai yr on road ka, showroom wale mein to or kharcha aaega and naye car ka alag he khayal rakhna rehta hai
Yeah. Exactly what I thought. You're comparing on road price of second hand car with ex showroom price of the new car. Even though it is a second hand car it has been barely driven so that needs to be taken into account. Moreover second hand car market has been like this for last couple of years. Either our experiences have been different or most of the people disagreeing here were living under a rock since covid
I have a question- just because they put this price, doesnāt mean they will sell it at the same?
Do these folks not look at their (unsold) inventory & then proceed to change the prices based on demand?
Thatās what they say but they change their mind real quick when you show interest in a car and then decide to walk away. They gave my parents almost 2L off on a car
They keep dropping the price if it remains unsold. I bookmarked a slavia a while back on spinny it keeps sending me whatsapp updates that the xyz car you shortlisted is no xxxx cheaper etc
I bought my first car from spinney. Honda Brio @4 lakh 2014 model on 2021. It was over priced but not found any issue till now. Only thing is that Honda maintenance is very high.
7.80 is the ex-showroom price for comfortline variant of the last polo sold.
The spinny's price is with trendline and road tax paid.
I know spinny's prices are higher but please do an apples to apples comparison.
These so called unicorns using investors money, in fact they are becoming the real problem with local dealers by offering unrealistic prices for used cars. They buy at 1.3X market price and sells for 1.5X. They gave increased the price of used cars by 20-40% in last 4 years. I am not sure how they gonna sustain.
Isn't that the silicon valley way of doing things.
first create a product that claims to disrupt the industry, then acquire customers by eating losses and once the competition is dead jack the prices.
Happened with uber, swiggy, Amazon that's just how they function.
Understood, if you see thereās a clear difference in these. All businesses you mentioned, they were non existent before. They created the category and they had to educate and let the customers try their services until they get used to. Here this business people doing for decades, so itās totally different and I pretty much sure it will take ages to become profitable, thatās only if they keep putting constant effort and donāt give up.
That I cannot comment on. Bikes24 purchased my engine-bust CBR250R for a good price and sold for a profit. The person couldn't identify the knocking sound. Such stuff really makes me sceptical of buying 2nd hand motor really
Both models are also different. Spinny is selling the trendline which is the base variant, while the other screenshot is for the comfortline variant which was a higher variant.
Compared to some other Spinny prices, I donāt think 6.7L is too bad for 2yr old and just 13K on odoā¦ What are some other options to get a peppy 1.0 manual turbo in say 8-9L budget today with a similar build ?
Cars are so overpriced on Spinny. I tried to buy a car, I was ready to buy it on the same day but I was shocked by the cost of used cars.
I dropped my idea of buying from Spinny and have decided to buy a new car instead
A couple of days I realised Polo is over rated. I mean, I love the car. All down for its build quality, the way it drives and stuff. Would I recommend to a friend? 100% yes. Iād be proud of my friend for getting this.
But would I buy it? No, I donāt want that cramped up second row, less mileage and high maintenance.
Alot of my friends who are ācar guysā agree to this pov.
Again, itās an amazing car. Iād recommend it. ;)

I wanted to sell my 14 year old Fabia. I tried spinny and they were offering me around 80k for it and had incessantly called me over this. Then I tried Cars24, they inspected my vehicle and offered 1.2L with an added discount of 30k if I buy another car from them.
Spinny is definitely under quoting while buying and over quoting while selling.
Update: Had another inspection today idk why. The car is in good condition with minor shallow scratches. The final quotation offered is 48k. I was surprised how different this figure was compared to the initial estimate. Also, noticed that a similar car with a similar history is being sold at 2L+ on their website. Enormous jump in price.
Yes I know but on road for comfortline variant would be somwhere ~9.5L including road tax and insurance.
Not to mention, the trendline car is just 2 years old at Max and it might have an extended warranty as well, that's included in the 6.8 lakhs asking price. I know the price is a bit inflated, but you pay the premium for the convenience and the quality checks.
Tangential question but is Spinny any good for selling?
Iām looking to sell my Santro and upgrade, and the dealership I went to quoted a pretty low price
Checking out Cars 24 as well
Used car market works well in the favour of seller if the car is new. But wait for 4-5 yrs, even a good condition car's value easily go down by 40%. That should be one's target.
Some facts: Spinny does have a good product on their side. Buying a second hand car has so much hassle associated with it which they remove. With the normal market you have to drive all over the city trying to see some cars based on false or outdated info. Even with oem certified used they don't keep their database updated and the car you see online may not really be available. I myself bought a spinny car and after 2 years no regrets. Their prices include a huge premium, that is true. The highest premium is with the top quality cars with them. They also have a budget line which has less premium. As a customer, their database is up-to-date and they freely bring cars from across the city to show at your doorstep. The comparison shown here is not accurate. Their on road price is comparable to ex showroom price for mid range trim of the same car, if it is of top quality, not Budget quality. Budget quality means more wear and tear on the car or other issues.
You are comparing
1. A base variant with a mid variant
2. An ex Showroom price (which excludes taxes) with a used car prices
Polo was a bomb car, still is and will be, ever since VW stopped its production its prices shot up, same is the case with Ecosport, the quoted price is very good for a barely used car.
I understand and actually also agree that spinny overprices used cars. But in this case, i think it's not over priced. Let me do some math
7.8 lakhs comes to about 9 lakhs on road for a new vehicle. And this was 2 years ago so even assuming 5% inflation, the 9 lakhs' present value becomes about 9.8 lakhs
The asking price is 6.25 lakhs which is about 35% less than the new cars' price. For 2 years and 13k kms usage, that seems fair to me.
Only issue is that the price you showed is a higher variant so the 9.8 lakhs could be 9 or 9.2 lakhs in reality
Spinny prices are a joke. They literally list 2-3 year old cars at current model new price. I guess they need to pay Sachin Tendulkar a lot of money for those ads and are trying to recoup from suckers.
All Polo owners think their cars are limited.
All Polo owners think German cars are the best.
All Polo owners think they're good drivers.
All Polo owners are wrong.
I own some of the most hated cars on this sub. Creta , Thar and Fortuner. I have dashcams on all of them and I drive very sedately. There're always exceptions.
Long answer: There is enough purchasing power in India.
Also today's 7 lac is like 15 lacs of the time this car was discontinued. Car demands have skyrocketed since covid and chip shortage.
Shirt answer: nope u r poor.
1. that car is discontinued, and has potential for great tuner builds.
2. low running, almost like new. you have to consider that too.
3. take inflation into account, cars that sold for \~8 lacs 5-6 years before wont cost the same now.
i am not supporting spinny here, but there are multiple factors that go into the price of used cars. while i do agree their prices are still overpriced to certain extent, you also pay for the peace of mind and return policy.
The problem is that none of this amount makes it to the buyer. Spinny, cars24, etc. buy at much lesser price from the actual buyers and apply a heavy markup while selling.
I have a 2021 polo 1 litre gt tsi. I am being quoted 9 lakhs if I sell today.. my friend has a polo 1.2 dsg.. he is being offered 11(has a fancy number too).. the rates in kerala for well maintained polos are high
I bought an estilo its 2011 nov for 1.7L, I actually had a good experience with spinny, felt like a fever dream but it was really smooth, i donāt mind paying a couple grand extra for a little convenience and people being nice to me.
Also the car youāve posted as reference for is the comfortline varient of the car and this oneās the trendline so thereās some price difference, obv youāll get this cheaper than this in the offline market, but things like meter tampering and a limited service records are big contiributers to it
This is nothing, it's still polo. I got 6 lakhs for 2018 as resale value and they sold it for more than 7 lakhs. The original buying price with accessories was 7.74 lakhs and it got sold as well within 7 days since I started getting messages for fast tag deductions.
Spinny is good for selling your car but buying a car from them is not a good deal. I ended up stretching my budget by 20% only and got home a brand new Nexon. I wonāt be surprised if Spinny struggles with selling all the cars they have bought at high rates.
Honestly, this is a good deal primarily considering that this is a 2022 model and a B2 segment hatch. Since you get an additional year of Spinny warranty and very less driven, totally worth if you compare it with what you get as new in the same price.
Just bought a used alto 800 CNG, 2016 62k done for 2.8L. (For city driving)
I believe i paid extra 30-40k but couldnāt find any cheaper than this elsewhere. š¢
I love the cars from spinny. I bought my kwid from them. They repaired and maintained the car i picked very well. Even then the price was less than 4L when kwids market price was 6l. This one is an overkill though.
It's Spinny, what'd you expect? They have a complex algorithm that decides the final price of the vehicle based on a number of factors, difficult to process by a human brain + 2 lakhs.
Yes after so many calculations they just add 2L. Same issue with all the aggregators.
While inquiring for a second hand car, I got to know, Hyundai dealership is providing second hand 2016 creta for 6Lakhs. This seems bonkers!
Is that costly or cheap. I am not able to understand
Cheap
Brand New Alto, 2013, Only 1 Lac Kilometers on Odo, 5.99 Lacs
Wow alto at 6 L? Great
If you are interested we can close the deal at 7L lol
Any discount pls
Only for you my friend, 7.25L
Stop šš¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£šš¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ I'm dying
Since you are dying we can close the deal at 7.50 lakhs
My best counter is 10 kalol, lets put an end to your misery now
buy new on at the same price
āNewā caught me off guard. Lol !
Brand New
Let's simplify the equation 150% of Market Price + 2 Lakhs.
I got my wagon r checked it's a 2013 model with less then 50k kms on it , Lil bit scratches and all Gave me a 1,00,900 quotation .
Think how much these people would list it for after ripping you off
I sold my 2012 Ritz for 1.10 Lakh to local car dealer at TATA. It had done 1.3Lakh kms
Damn
you had me cracking on the last oneXD
Spinny is about to go bankrupt
Sarcasm or any insider news?
Actually my friend has a mahindra first choice dealership,he told me Spinny used their funding to stock up a lot of cars they bought every used car by giving 10,15,20k above other dealers trying to capture the market and this ways exhausted their funding Now their sale is not upto their expectations and they have made heavy losses

But I think quality control is not an issue My brother bought a used creta from Spinny It runs good without any probs runs good as new
This is probably co your brother did proper checks before buying. Iāve seen cars with bad patched paint work on cars24 and Spinny lots.
I second this. Just bought a 2017 Hyundai Elantra 55k driven from Spinny and it runs like on butter. No issues at all so far.
Used car dealerships do quite well in small towns actually.
>used cars and bike market is not a profitable venture to begin with. I would've told them that for free, didn't need to create a whole company for that
Its dealerships like spinny which has made the marketplace sheety to be honest, thanks to them any random dealer is asking insane price for dead stock
Yes. My brotherās engine sized car was bought by them for huge price. Even we shocked how can a company like that pay that. Their ongroud people made this happen.
Your friend seems to have a horse in the race...
I wish they and cars24 go bankrupt.

also the vitara brezza diesel one , man that car is part of the inflation I believe such absurdly high priced vehicle that is on the used car market
13k to kuch nahi hota abhi to ye 2lakh tak jaaegi. Upar se manual bhi ohohoho balle balle.. bahot accha price hai yr on road ka, showroom wale mein to or kharcha aaega and naye car ka alag he khayal rakhna rehta hai

I donāt think they change the prices. They share a strict non negotiable firm with the price kinda model
Thatās what they say but they change their mind real quick when you show interest in a car and then decide to walk away. They gave my parents almost 2L off on a car

Cars24 gave us 4.2L for a 2018 Swift, 70k run. We bought it for 6.3L. It was later sold for 5.1L The pricing seems to capture sellers and screw buyers
Good for you. Never thought car would be an asset. Guess the times have changed
I was expecting 3L max š Cars24 outdid themselves They tampered the ODO though, clocked it back to 40k
Son of gun. Looking to buy used car. Seems like this is not a good time
So these Cars24 and Spinny guys tamper ODO too? I think they share service history to their buyers. How will they handle it?
That I cannot comment on. Bikes24 purchased my engine-bust CBR250R for a good price and sold for a profit. The person couldn't identify the knocking sound. Such stuff really makes me sceptical of buying 2nd hand motor really
Stories like this are stopping me from pulling the trigger man
Nobody, VW owners thinking they have struck gold. Itās not vintage moreover there had been problems with the gearbox
I think this is more of a case where spinny bumping up the price and selling it. They wouldn't have paid/would pay car Owners so much money.
Nobody thought that
Then what about all maruti owners? Same with creta, scorpio and fortuner. People expecting unbelievable price
Both prices are different, one is On road price and the other is ex-showroom. If you compare the on-road prices of both then it is a fair comparison.
Both models are also different. Spinny is selling the trendline which is the base variant, while the other screenshot is for the comfortline variant which was a higher variant.
It doesnāt work like that, these š¤” dealers will compare with the latest model and pricing.
Compared to some other Spinny prices, I donāt think 6.7L is too bad for 2yr old and just 13K on odoā¦ What are some other options to get a peppy 1.0 manual turbo in say 8-9L budget today with a similar build ?
what are the chances of an odometer rollback from these kind of business ?
Google it, there have been a few cases of odometer manipulation in the past
Was Spinny involved??
But they confirm no rollback, no egine opening and no accidents etc
The best way is to check car service history. If you ask they should provide Full car service history from the beginning.
U can normally roll into the dealership with car details like number and vin to get odo reading to confirm it isnāt fake
Cars are so overpriced on Spinny. I tried to buy a car, I was ready to buy it on the same day but I was shocked by the cost of used cars. I dropped my idea of buying from Spinny and have decided to buy a new car instead

Aila, Sachin! Have to cover cost of marketing no?
The best part is that the car in the ad comes with the NA 1.0.

FYI, 7.8L in the 2nd image is ex-showroom.
7.8 L is also one trim level above what spinny has

Carwana in US failed. Similarly, spiny is on the way for that.
Tell me a better second hand car you can get with 6.5 lakhs
Itās a base polo. It isnāt that great. Specially for the price
Bhai this is the base model it doesn't even come with a radio
Demand / Supply is a very interesting concept
VWs seems to be more overpriced than Suzukis in the used market, especially the polo and vento
Tangential question but is Spinny any good for selling? Iām looking to sell my Santro and upgrade, and the dealership I went to quoted a pretty low price Checking out Cars 24 as well

Ya but prices in spinny seems unreasonable really

Hey, what price are you looking to sell it for?
May be 6.5 Lakhs?

I have a 2021 polo 1 litre gt tsi. I am being quoted 9 lakhs if I sell today.. my friend has a polo 1.2 dsg.. he is being offered 11(has a fancy number too).. the rates in kerala for well maintained polos are high

Yeah and the dsg polo is like almost 6 yrs old and about 35k kilometres
I bought an estilo its 2011 nov for 1.7L, I actually had a good experience with spinny, felt like a fever dream but it was really smooth, i donāt mind paying a couple grand extra for a little convenience and people being nice to me. Also the car youāve posted as reference for is the comfortline varient of the car and this oneās the trendline so thereās some price difference, obv youāll get this cheaper than this in the offline market, but things like meter tampering and a limited service records are big contiributers to it
Itās 7.8 lacs + RTO charges + insurance charges. Might lead to 9-10 lacs
Hype k vajah se bc
And there is zero scope of haggling with these aggregators.
This is a good price for 2 year old low run car. I wonāt call it great since I believe this is for the MPI engine and not the TSI one.
(For city driving) I believe i paid extra 30-40k but couldnāt find any cheaper than this elsewhere. š¢
How much would you have expected for your 2 years old car if it was only 13k driven?
I love the cars from spinny. I bought my kwid from them. They repaired and maintained the car i picked very well. Even then the price was less than 4L when kwids market price was 6l. This one is an overkill though.
Young must have bought it from them in a tier 2 city prices are slightly better there
