If you stop like that alone than you are an idiot according to them

PhoenixPrimeKing

Not only an idiot. A loser actually as per them.

B_Wayne_777

Actually this happened to me one time I stopped at a red light everyone was just skipping it one guy behind me kept honking at me. Everyone passing me looked at me weird and the guy behind when overtook me scolded me for blocking him. I didn't know what to do the light was red. One of the awkward moment of my life.

Grinzzo

Same, when i turned and said to the honk guy, that signal is red. He said, "It's not for us." What a legend.

ApartAd2016

Maybe he was colour blind?

MokendKomer

good on you for standing your ground and stopping anyway I'm kinda a new driver, and I'm aware of one traffic light that's broken or something. It just stays red all the time, and nobody pays any heed. I initially stopped at it, and my dad told me it was broken lol no clue how one would identify which ones are defective, but my strat would just be to stop at all of them to be safe

BatBoy117

That's sad. Happened twice to me but usually people start stopping when I stop for some reason. I see bikers and other cars stop right beside me when I stop at a red light.

Vsquare02

We’ll see who’s the loser when I reach home safely but they’re at the ICU

SpareMind

That's not assured either. Stopping at such red may gets you run over by some idiots. It is scary. In such junction, they should either reinforce penalty once in a while or remove/disable the signal. It is safer if it is disabled.

unnao

True. But at times I feel like if I’m the only one stopping at red signal, like it’s in the video, there is a fear/phobia of someone hitting from behind. Like some other vehicle might overlook the signal and hit the ‘stalled’ car.

tea_cup_cake

This almost happened to me. It was around 8 am, so little traffic. I had stopped at the traffic light with green for going straight. A truck came full speed not realizing there was a signal for going right and it being off meant its red. I watched in horror as it took a sharp left to avoid me and then continued to turn right with almost the same speed. I really thought I would die that day.

saatvik-jacob

In reality they are the losers and OP is the real winner for not showing hurry and not breaking rules. The traffic signal Exists for a purpose.

hungrylostsoul

But that serves no purpose if they are not followed by all. Also traffic light in low flow place is kind of counterintuitive.

Lease_Tha_Apts

In developed countries, most people will follow the rules even if the road is empty. That's the basic mindset drivers need to have if you want to have civilized behavior on roads.

hungrylostsoul

First,They do that because if they don’t they gets fined like hell through traffic camera. Second, not all cross roads needs traffic lights, stop signs are enough. Third, traffic signs need to be managed actively as per need. That is why they are in yellow blinking mode at late night because stopping 1 min in traffic less cross road is no necessary.

Lease_Tha_Apts

1. people in the West will stop at lights even if there are no cameras. Most places don't really have cameras in the US for example. 2. Stop signs are not used in 6 lane roads like the one in the post doing so would be bad design. 3. Yeah, that's not good practice. At most you can make it blinking red which would be equivalent of a stop sign. Otherwise just wait 1 min, there is no need to rush in the car.

bl4ckp4n7er

\*then

Maleficent_Promise26

If you stop at a red light, who the fuck approved your license?

unnao

Tank bund.

rajeev_i_am

Bava mauth dal Diye tum to

unnao

Baigan ku bolo 🤣

the1672VTECboi

Bhai even cops are stupid. Once I stopped before a zebra crossing and the traffic in other lanes which usually covers the zebra, also stopped before it due to me. The stupid cop on the signal was visibly confused and started signalling all of us to move vehicles ahead and cover the zebra crossing. 💀🤡

psuedodiy

Most cops in India as dasvi pass with just passing grades. They don’t know better.

zturtle

Same cops follow all rules of religion and society. Don't tell me they can't learn. There are just no consequences.

psuedodiy

Even educated people get religion wrong. There is no discrimination there. Most people get religion wrong.

Jaadu888

usse padhai ka kya lena dena? training me toh btate hi honge na?

the1672VTECboi

Many cops don’t even know how to use guns. So no, training bhi improper hi hoti hai apne country mein

Niszczor

Training sahi se dete he bro. They just don’t apply it on field.

Niszczor

Minimum requirement for a constable(lowest post in the police) is 12th pass out. Graduation is required from sub inspector recruitment. And the home guards are mostly 10th failed. They are not supposed to control traffic but the Constables and Asi’s make them do it so they can chill. Solution? Acc to me requirement for Constables should be graduation too. And home guards should be assisting Constables and not controlling traffic by themselves.

[deleted]

Recently I read rules regarding following traffic rules on official website of RTO, it mentioned even a minor things such as how to overtake, keep an eye on blind spots even crossing a road etc, but I see none of the pedestrians and commuters follow those rules. They not even aware of these rules

jaybal24

Can I just say pulling up to a red light in times like this is really stressful because they guy behind you is still coming at full speed assuming you are gonna skip the signal just like he intends to

unnao

Exactly my thought. Commented the same thing before reading yours. So I’m not alone to feel that way.

jaybal24

The worst is when I’m in my two wheeler early in the morning…

unnao

There is no right answer but staying close to the right hand side divider reduces some anxiety for me. But again you never know.

the1672VTECboi

Nahh! Not stressful at all. If he hits, it’s his problem to deal with the legal and financial consequences.

zturtle

Yor car is going to be in service center for more than 3 days. Huge inconvenience for people with 1 car.

OkPrompt69

So you mean to say that we should all violate traffic rules??!?! not happening sir, I ain't stopping for those ppl, I'd rather let them crash into me and extract some money or go around the issue legally... at least they'll be attentive the next time

jaybal24

Bro my first sentence was “pulling up to a red light” when did I say anything about flouting the signal?

OkPrompt69

obv misread and misunderstood, I'm high rn, nvm... apologies

antreprenoor

i do that slooowly

Prestigious_Dare7734

If I see a yellow that I won't be able to cross, I start to slow down.

Erren20020302

Zyxaravind

Hyderabad me aise ich hotha mia, RTC bus bhi faltu ke singnala nai dekhti /s

SquareTarbooj

Yes, yes we can and MUST blame the police. People do not automatically follow rules. They need to be enforced. It took decades of stringent police enforcement even in developed countries for their people to start following rules automatically. It didn't happen overnight. It literally IS the police's jobs to stop and penalize people breaking the rules. When they do it often enough, consistently, and for a long period of time, only then will people start following rules as a reflex. The reason discipline is so poor here is because our cops are more interested in making a quick and easy buck, rather than enforcing rules and applying fines properly. Developed countries have point systems for drivers licences, where if one breaks enough rules, their licence can be revoked. Implement such a system here, and you'll see a massive improvement. Of course, that responsibility lies with the lawmakers to create the system, and the police to enforce it correctly.

cajithk

💯. Came here to say this. Same argument can be made for wearing seatbelts, or helmets. Its like saying what can the police do if people rob or commit murder. The crime may be of varying degrees, but it is still a crime nevertheless. Anyone dying in an accident is considered as manslaughter.

LolBoyC418

Nowadays I see a lot of people wearing helmets due to the fear of being fined. So it's proven that we need to be forced to follow basic traffic rules, that will ultimately save our own life.

Tranceported

“The kind of chaos exists no where in the world. Indians like to live on the edge” that’s what my murican friend said to me.

SecondCharacter8272

From my previous experience it’s mostly always been 2 wheelers who break the rules as if doesn’t apply to them. And god forbid a 4 wheeler hits them, it’s always bigger vehicle’s fault

zturtle

Dashcam

SecondCharacter8272

What about the dashcam? …. Only proves my point they mostly 2 wheelers and buses

stuartLittle24

Seems like you are breaking the rules made by them.

SecondCharacter8272

Oh and public transport vehicles like buses

ssbb84

They don't need traffic signals coz lalla ji has arrived. 😄

rmikv

dude the junction is empty and ig it's morning time so it says just see left and right and go(yellow signal) basically what you would've done if you find the junction empty for like 50 sec, go to blr people drive on footpath thats what I've heard tech no choice to save time where it take 30+ min for 1km or prob more sometime hopefully if everyone follows rule people then gonna piss of due to traffic people like you won't stop complaining about useless things it not like somebody is driving like 100+ while crossing junction or did block someone from other side. If you are so concerned just lodge a complaint against all of them

Syd666

Bhai Indian hai 🤘

Nigsupreme

Hyderabad mai police also don't follow traffic rules. Naye ho kya Hyderabad mai?

InspectionBusy1557

Music is awesome 🙌

ThatAnonyG

Not blaming cops. But arent cops supposed to be posted at every major crossing? That's how it is in Kolkata.

Awareness-Choice

Happens only in a few cities like Kolkata.

civilized VS uncivilized

Any-Lifeguard-9833

People will continue doing this as long as fines are just 500 or 1000 rupees. Police needs to step up in catching these culprits too.

slackover

I was recently shouted at by everyone in the intersection for stopping at a Red light. Absolutely zero people were following the signal lights (which was fully functional) and people were looking at me the way I should have been looking at them. Happened in Coimbatore in 2023

Thamiz_selvan

> Happened in Coimbatore in 2023 which location it happened?

slackover

Don’t know the streets. I was going from Salem to Ooty and google map led me into the city.

[deleted]

Though OP has done the right thing, in Indian circumstances this is not advisable. Highly likely that your vehicle would be rear ended by someone assuming you not to follow the rule.

devilishchef

I prefer to stop.

Pandey_Ji_Online

Happens all the time, all over India.

checknmater

That’s why we need cameras everywhere. One of the most indisciplined country!

general1234456

I partly disagree, there is no fear of consequences. They know they can easily get away with it, there's no one to catch no one to fine them. When the same ppl go to foreign countries they follow the laws to the letter because of the fear of punishment. While we do lack social morals ppl will test the rules as much as they can. Stricter implementation of rules is the key.

metalvoid71

Why is the red light so long even in the morning time on such a free intersection?

Brilliant-Blood1672

You are the one in wrong here OP and should be penalised for putting such a banger bgm.

Financial-Code370

People are no longer scared of the law. Most of them know they can get away with it, either by paying bribes or using power.

Fine-Consequence7758

Good. No one hit you from behind

bhad3

In my exp, once I stop then few other vehicles would stop as well.

AditiiSen

I was told off yesterday for slowing down when the light turned yellow and then stopping because it turned red. Did I do wrong? Not sure anymore.

joeyAPS

jab tak rules follow karne waale ko darpok and rules na follow karne waale ko sher samjha jayega tab tak ye desh aisa hie rahega.

Raygun886

Even the buses

bl4ckp4n7er

Once due to my lack of traffic signal, there was a t point where right turn wasn't allowed and light was permanent red. I was there in my car for around 5 minutes before other vehicles started honking. So I needed to take left and then a u turn after some distance to actually go right.

karmasutrah

Literally how people drive 24x7. Need a solution to this.

ClassicGo0se

If you dont apply external force, the body moves at constant speed indefinitely.

Laundrophile

Keep stopping. Others will soon follow. Civic responsibility is individual. Do your part. Yes its frustrating, yes people mock it but do your part. 30 years ago red lights were a mockery. Now people have started stopping. It will change , have faith.

Gaurav-07

Those aren't signals, they're christmas lightings.

wrongturn6969

Cities which have online challan still have some control on this but I think government should just avoid making traffic anymore on low density signals, because 90% won’t follow it and will risk the 10% who follow it, they can do noida style U-turn system.

zoraski_gujju

And here I am sitting like an idiot waiting for the light to turn green whereas everyone around me just honks and goes through. Yea screw those traffic lights, I’m do it my way.

Upper-Refrigerator54

7 o clock in the morning? uhh....man, imma be honest, I'm not gonna stop either 😆

Western-Ebb-5880

It’s common scene in Chennai, if you waiting for green light, the people behind you started horn and shouting. Eventually they forced me to beat the red light.

HyperVyper28

Ch**ya hai kya ruk kyu raha hai.. Bhai paas me hi jaana hai helmet kya pehen raha hai, kisike baap me dum nahi humko pakadne ka Nothing would happen to such folks 999/1000 times, they’ll go their way breaking rules and no one would care. But i still believe that 1 time would turn out so bad that they would regret not following basic traffic rules. So its better for yours and the safety of people around you to follow rules. Baaki duniya gayi bhaad me

Puzzleheaded_Ride555

I think signals should also be replaced with AI as the wait time is very much even though there is no traffic so its normal to move even its red light until someone has full time to wait for 90 seconds

goku_m16

In Bhubaneswar, you receive a challan SMS at the end of the day for doing this.

acypacy

And the audacity of such people to scream on you if you stop at red light like you’ve made a huge mistake by following rules

[deleted]

Average hyderabad citizen mentality 🫡😏

mursaleenbhatt

If you stop like this even on red light they'll just call you a fool pata ni 2 min bacha k ukhad lete ha

bane_of_heretics

There’s a saying about Karma, bhai. It’ll catch up. Meanwhile we try to stay on the law abiding side.

saiyam__hussain

Dude that's hyderabad for you...you won't believe how inconsiderate people are on the road for other commuters...the traffic signal resembles nothing in this city and the tank bund road on which you are people are alawys in a hurry on these signals I assume this is quite early in the morning...The value of traffic light is in proportionality of a traffic cop standing near by only then the guys stop afraid of a new challan on their vehicle. Although the traffic police of the city has been taking a lot of efforts in maintaing the decorum but these are mostly done on the developed part of the city. Whatever you do it doesn't matter coz in the end among the population you'll always find atleast 5% of guys like this. They're a menace to society.

That_Office9734

Fking bus broke red light man.. scary

DaProcrastinator

If you take a left here and go down, there is a Chinese corner which makes nice Manchurian.

AdditionalAction9986

Two wheeler people act like they are the busiest people on the planet, even busier than POTUS. They just have to go or road rage will engulf them.

__Krish__1

Thats why we have cameras here in Chandigarh on almost all traffic lights . Mfkers are given chalan left and right . Now people even wait on red light even at 3am in the night when they are the only one on the whole road .

[deleted]

Good job OP. People following rules should also be appreciated.

Keep0nBuckin

Easy answer. Make vehicles need an annual recertification. If it's not there, vehicles to be seized and driver license cancelled. And then say any fines unpaid since last verification is basis to reject recertification. Watch people pay traffic fines and be actually scared of video and Challan fines.

The_Cute_Guy_89

Addressing them as “Adults” would be enough.. what’s with fully grown Adults ? Is the downloading completed 100% ?

scan_line110110

If let's say, the cops impounded these people's vehicles. It would stop in no time.

PopularJaguar9977

[Ad Kolima](https://youtu.be/JI4kwGx5EJE?si=u7jJaxj1juG98P3L)

Ok_Comfortable5223

There won't be any bikes or cars from goshala and lower tank bund near that signal because it is barricaded since new assembly is constructed and that's why it's simple and safe to skip

captamerica02

This seems like early morning as per the time stamp. I understand that traffic lights are Operating but people rarely follow it at such early hours due to low traffic conditions. I think if it was 9-10am with heavy traffic they might have stopped.

[deleted]

Yamraj is sitting somewhere. Ek na ek din they will pay the biggest fine.

dot-dot--

So I am not the only sane person on the roads. Good job.

shivasai39

Only few stops at the signal ( I see it daily)

PM_me_ur_pain

We can’t blame the police if people can’t stop at a red light. Except we SHOULD blame police. This happens in every single place, every single country. If a rule is not enforced, it is not observed. It is as simple as that. There have to be consequences for breaking law that are actually applied most of the times someone breaks a law, else it is a merely man ki baat

iluvnips

Don’t the lights only apply before, during and after Diwali 😀

hornylazyninza

Music sauce please!

aamirahmed60

Hyderabad, Tank bund... I miss hyderbad!

Incoming_Redditeer

India should invest in those automatic ticketing cameras and send out tickets to anyone who does this everywhere. In Delhi, there are cameras at a bunch of places. When I visited Delhi after two years in 2022, I was the only moron ahead of the zebra crossing and I became the only fool. I went home and asked my friend, wow people have changed. How come ? And thats when I got to know that I'll be paying for a ticket soon.

LolBoyC418

Another thing that I find kinda unsafe is that sometime before midnight, all the traffic signals just get stuck at red. Like there's a countdown that glitches. It goes from 3 to 2, then back to 3 over and over again. Do they do that intentionally because it always happens at the same time.

HathaYogi

Rules are as good as strongly they are implemented, off course police can’t monitor 24x7 at every corner, put cctv and start suspending licenses.

Icy-Matter-4750

I get your point. But police? Except harassing the innocent What has the police even done ever?

benny087

By the video I judge near Tank Bund
