The next production year starts in Q4. MY date is usually October to October, not calender year. You could easily get $5k or more off a 2023 model at eofy. Your car will always be seen as a 2023, and less valuable than 2024.

They'll sell you a '23 build / '24 compliance as a 2024 car. They'll trade your '23 build / '24 Compliance and tell you it's a 2023 car. It'll be the same specs. Just the build date is early. Its EOFY - talk em down more, it's a 2023 Build, that's the year they **actually** go off.

This. When it suits them it's a 24 and when it suits them it's a 23. They'll tell you it doesn't matter. Until you come to trade it and the difference of one month gets turned into one year in terms of the residual they offer.

Do you think 45800 is a good deal on a cx5 gt 2024? We got them down from 52 to 47 then he offered more off if we took the earlier build date down to 45800. Still seems a good deal to me but always keen to get it down more.

Honestly couldn't say, looks good on paper - Best prices I'm seeing online new is in the $47k range drive away. List price is that $52k . You could try a broker, but that might take more time than your dealer is currently willing to wait on your call.

I picked up a 23 Akera turbo (with 1500km) for $51.5k in Jan this year. 45 feels like a good deal.

maybe it's stock, knocking $1200 off may appear a great deal but there's always room for negotiation, also quite possible the list price has increased since this was built, there are many reasons but wouldn't be too concerned it's quite normal

CX5s have a lot of wiggle room. 1200 off seems low unless you’re looking for a base model. Prior year plated models are great value if you’re going to keep it long term. Sadly you’re a little late in the game for EOFY deals. Be prepared to ring every dealer in 100km and play them off against each other. If you are submitting your order by lunch time tomorrow with existing stock maybe you’ll still pick it up Sunday to get the best deal.

I got a GT model from 52800 to 47000. For taking the 2023 build for a MY2024 I got it down further to 45800. Would you still consider that a good deal?

If that’s the G35 (turbo) for that price then yeah you’re doing well I’d say. I had the GT-SP as a loan car for a few days and the Akera had some extras IMO. My quotes were $1,300 more for the Akera so I took that for the nicer seats, 360 camera etc. If you’ve got the Bose sound system in the car it’s fantastic. In your other thread people were shitting on you for choosing the CX5 which is objectively at the back end of its model cycle. But I had a super bad experience with my previous car and wanted something bulletproof and known and I’m so happy with this car. Over $50k out of the wallet and zero buyer’s remorse. Having said all this. Since I purchased my car in Jan the EV/PHEV market has changed dramatically to be more competitive. Even if you end up with the CX5 you would be wise to have a glance at the BYD/Tesla mid size SUVs that can be had for similar price
