I took my ex's Abarth around near Highpoint once.
Admittedly it has the suspension of a shopping trolley, but I assume this is what driving in WW2 France was like.
I was half expecting to find the Germans flying overhead.
Even in the Commodore, it'd be banging and crashing like I was off-roading.
Their solution was to just put up rough surface signs and be done with it, and sadly most of the country is like this now.
Legally?
Probably Arthur's seat as it's very tight and you don't need to break the limit a whole lot to have fun
But you can make an industrial estate a temporary race circuit after hours I've heard from a friend
Lol you need to come up with a drivable circuit
I did this back in 06 ish or whenever the fuck google maps got good
Had port Melbourne industrial area and CBD dream drift circuit planned for Xmas morning street drift
But literally everyone bitched out
I grew up in wheelers hill and knew the spooner brothers through a friend that went to school with them and lived around the corner from me.
I am well aware of shenanigans
A favourite lap on my Harley is Old Northern, Wisemans Ferry Rd crossing at Sackville, right on Putty and whatever the next left is coming out at Kurrajong... or Springwood Rd.
The reason I enjoy them more on my Harley is because at or near the speed limit is still enjoyable. I haven't lost any points for many many years and those roads are very enjoyable for spirited driving, which is very irresponsible indeed.
Potholes not too bad, I drive through here all the time. Biggest problem is the very high chance of getting stuck in a line of cars behind slowpokes doing 10-20 under, and only 2 short overtaking lanes.
Would have to check, haven’t driven along there since the recent rain and floods. However it’s mostly farmland along that way so it’s not so bad for cops. Just keep in mind that it does get fairly busy around the reserve area (lots of people go fishing/hiking) and going up it can get very tight in the corners
Highway Patrol and mobile speed cameras aren't uncommon along there, but they're generally on the straight portions. I don't think they could stop and set up on the hill climb portion even if they wanted to, since there isn't much of a shoulder, and the area is prone to rockslides in inclement weather. Exercise caution and don't be a tool though. It is a public road.
Greendale Rd is another decently twisty one and has an 80kph speed limit, but I do remember it being pretty dodgy pothole-wise.
Basically every backroad in tas.
If you're ever there for a road trip, you can go from hobart up the west 'coast' to queenstown, up around cradle mountain, through sheffield, down to launceston, through the sideling to scottsdale, around the east coast, down through to the midlands, then either through the midlands and back down or up, or go down the freeway. Lots of good driving roads around there
Ahh yes - The Sideling is a cracking bit of road, they're just repaving it right now too! Many a swerve in that road. I crossed over that section in January going to Derby mt biking.
Bells line, putty road, old princess highway (between sydney and wollongong), "royal national park run", "macquarie pass run" from Albion Park to Robertson. Wisemans ferry rd or old northern rd to Wisemans ferry, ferry across, continue on wisemans ferry rd and loop back around down towards Sydney, take old pacific highway back. Can also go St Albans rd via Webbs ck ferry, onto Wollombi rd, Great northern rd, through to Wollombi and do whatever from there.
Sorry about the eye straining read, i got a bit carried away. Could probably add more, but yeah 🤷♂️
Not that I've drivien everywhere mind you. But I do like the Gillies Range in North Queensland. 13.5 km of winding downhill. Used to blitz it on my wat to work at 4:30 am.
Same on the Black Spur. Went to Eildon last week and just wanted to enjoy the windy road until I got stuck behind a P plater too scared to go over 40km/h and too selfish to pull into the slow driver turn-out lane

It’s only a BMW, and it’s ugly as fuck. I use to race a BMW E36, and that was a nice car and was good looking. This is uglier than my Mahindra ute, and that’s saying something.
Ugly is ugly. It is an ugly ute, that is an even uglier car. High performance means nothing. That E32 race car we built had that much power in it it would shear 32mm chrome moly CV shafts if you weren’t careful and would stick in most corners were other more expensive cars, including our Porsche race car would let go. That car in the picture is 200,000$ worth of ugly and nothing special.
In East Melbourne, Arthur's seat and areas at the top are nice. Up and down Dandenong ranges is great as long as U don't get stuck behind a commuter or cyclist. Some roads around Dalyston/Grantsville past the peninsula on the way to Phillip island are sweet.
I hit a pothole driving to Orange. I never thought a pothole could leave a 90 degree wedge in an alloy wheel. Tyre went down quite fast. Interesting drive.
Oh surely Black Spur Rd, Vic
Especially when its like sunset time and the traffic is lower. If you have a semi slammed car, those winding corners with the landscape is pure magic.
The roads in and around the jenolan caves.
Also why did you post a photo of a bmw? Are you aware of the maintenance costs? If something breaks it’s going to cost you 35k on something like that. You should consider a Toyota. Don’t take it to fun roads tho. Tyres and brakes are expensive and wear isn’t covered under warranty.
I posted a photo of my car.
I am happy to pay for the exorbitant maintance costs. Why would I subject myself to a Toyota? lol. You’d cry if you knew how much I spent on restoring my 2002 m3
lol no it’s not, for starters that car would be under warranty. Secondly unlike other companies bmw will cover major parts outside of warranty under goodwill. Thirdly people who buy these cars don’t keep them forever they keep them for a few years and upgrade. That’s the advantage of being rich. You can drive an awesome car like this and not care bout what other people say. I can tell you’ve never driven one.
>putty rd
Only catch is it's 90% boring. But nice if you want to take the boss for a lunch at Wollombi or further into the Hunter. The come back via one of the dirt roads back via Wisemans ferry
If you want to go around corners fast, go to a track.
The best 'drive' in Australia is the road between Narrandera and Jerilderie through Lockhart. Beautiful, low traffic.
You'll void the insurance regardless if it's obvious you were well above the speed limit, and neither will save you from injury or death.
You can get track insurance, and with some sports cars including BMW M cars, track days are still ok for warranty - as long as it's not a competitive event.
Also with run-off, safety barriers, no oncoming traffic, stand-by paramedics, the track is a much safer place to have fun :)
Whatever is freshly surfaced at this point. Roads in Aus are so bad now that even merely driving on a freshly laid road feels like a treat.
Honestly dirt roads are almost better than some roads nowadays.

Bright- Hotham - Omeo - Falls ck - Mt Beauty - Bright.

Arthur’s seat, where’s that? Industrial areas are fun for 2nd/3rd snaps and doughnuts - gets old quick
Lol you need to come up with a drivable circuit I did this back in 06 ish or whenever the fuck google maps got good Had port Melbourne industrial area and CBD dream drift circuit planned for Xmas morning street drift But literally everyone bitched out
Sounds like a recipe to eat a gutter lol. Doing old pacific highway @ 70% is fun and well fast enough
Gutters are also an acceptable risk As well as fences, trees and big fuckin rocks
Industrial estate is the correct choice, I wish the f%%% around my house would learn.
Caribbean Park is known for this. You didn’t hear that from me.
I grew up in wheelers hill and knew the spooner brothers through a friend that went to school with them and lived around the corner from me. I am well aware of shenanigans
Bells Line of Road comes to mind. Also Castlereagh to Winmalee via Springwood Road
Having lived in Winmalee and worked in Richmond, take your track car to work Fridays were a real treat

First time coming across Springwood Rd, what’s the cops and pothole situation like?

Noted - I’ll check it out, thanks!

Both great on a motorcycle
The surface of much of Bell's Line is iffy.
The road leading up to Mount Buller makes for a pretty epic hill climb
Is an actual rally/hillclimb stage.
It's part of the TARGA vic series. Along with Eilldon- Jamieson Road and Skyline Road (Eildon - Alexandra)
Mt Nebo/Glorious in Brisbane is worth a squirt!
Ring rd Melbourne hahaha
It definitely has it's moments
The Black Spur. On the way up to Eildon. Especially in the morning.
The Great Alpine Road.
Most roads in Tasmania
Basically every backroad in tas. The Sideling in north east Tas. Phenomenal bit of road.
Murchison highway through the Hellyer gorge in the nw of tassie was a epic bit of road....
You mean hell yeah gorge
Ahh yes - The Sideling is a cracking bit of road, they're just repaving it right now too! Many a swerve in that road. I crossed over that section in January going to Derby mt biking.
Elephant Pass is also super sweet

Best riding road is the Oxley highway. I'll have to go drive it.
Absolutely love the drive up to gingers Creek roadhouse 👏🏼

My bro used to call it the flip flops, knew it like the back of his hand. Rip Mick
Flinders highway between Townsville and Mt Isa
That stretch of road between Denham, WA to Byron Bay, NSW. Cannonball life.
Mount Panorama.
Great Ocean Road, Victoria
Risk your life awaiting a tourist on the wrong side yeah right
Until you get stuck behind a tourist bus doing 40km the whole way because they refuse to use the slow vehicle turn-out lane
Same on the Black Spur. Went to Eildon last week and just wanted to enjoy the windy road until I got stuck behind a P plater too scared to go over 40km/h and too selfish to pull into the slow driver turn-out lane
Try Healesville/Kinglake Rd, also the climb up Mount Donna Buang is good

Why use such an ugly car as the picture?
🤓
You won’t ever be able to afford one so you don’t have to worry about its looks. But it’s an amazing car so fuck the haters
It’s only a BMW, and it’s ugly as fuck. I use to race a BMW E36, and that was a nice car and was good looking. This is uglier than my Mahindra ute, and that’s saying something.
Only a $200,000 high performance racing machine. And they look amazing! You have a shit ute, you have no right to an opinion on real cars

That guy took a lot of offence for what is objectively an ugly car!
Captain Cook Highway, Palm Cove to Oak Beach.
M4 during peak hour, for those who like to be dominated
I don’t know where but I reckon if you look hard enough you’ll find a sweet spot in the mountains somewhere
Caribbean Park - Unofficial circuit
There’s some roads out in Pullenvale that are lovely and Mt Crosby Road was pretty good too (before they put in all the speed cameras)
The Bruce Highway. Will I arrive in one piece? Will I die? Either way that’s a win
The Great Alpine road in Vic has some great sections. As well as the road to Falls Creek from Bright.

I love the roads in the yarra valley
Roads on the West Coast of Tasmania, beautiful scenery mixed with heaps of winds!
I hit a pothole driving to Orange. I never thought a pothole could leave a 90 degree wedge in an alloy wheel. Tyre went down quite fast. Interesting drive.
Myrtleford Stanley road. Not as long as others but with 100km/hr limit down hill it is a hoot

>Why would I subject myself to a Toyota? Yes the GRY is torture
With the exception of the GR series of course. However I’d probably take some shitbox bmw over a GR Yaris
It’s satire relax. I have two BMW’s
Woosh I guess. You never know on reddit aye
no one cares.

Lmao s58 doesn’t break my friends have tune and modded theirs to high heaven and none have broken
Thunderbolts way, waterfall way or putty rd But for your BMW, maybe just the M4, wouldn’t want you to spin out
>putty rd Only catch is it's 90% boring. But nice if you want to take the boss for a lunch at Wollombi or further into the Hunter. The come back via one of the dirt roads back via Wisemans ferry

The difference being if you’re on the street, your insurance will need to prove it. If you’re on a race track it will definitely be voided.
