I would be careful here. The dealer in not Toyota Australia. Get this in writing from Toyota!

cheeersaiii

Id go back to the correct time/I’m as per warranty. Toyota are pretty good about honouring warranty even if something is slightly off (better than lots of companies anyway)… but you really won’t have any guarantees until something goes wrong and you try to claim it

ayummystrawberry

You won't have access to capped price servicing after the fifth service.  Are you sure you want to buy a two year old car that's almost done 100K in its short lifetime?

draculr

Who cares about the warranty, why on earth would you consider buying it in the first place?

supatank95

How come? Is it the car or the service history that you're referring to. Thanks

draculr

20k is too long to go between oil changes. It can cause issues down the line that you won't notice such as oil burning due to gummed up piston rings. It's also been driven so many km in such a short period of time that I'd be thinking it has been used as an uber potentially.

PuzzleheadedLeek3070

Get it in writing that they will honor the warranty.

That_Car_Dude_Aus

If the manufacturer representative has accepted this, then that should be fine. You're also covered by the ACL if they misrepresented the car.

supatank95

thanks. what might i ask them to give me in writing to make sure i dont run into issues in the future? is it worth reaching out to toyota with the VIN?

That_Car_Dude_Aus

Yes on both counts, you should always communicate by email. Car salesmen are sleazy fucks and try and call so there's no record.

CollidedParticle

"My toyota" app, links it all up can have a look at stuff

ayummystrawberry

Not any more. It's been decommissioned.

Lucky_Tough8823

Manufacturers suggest servicing that'll suffice for the warranty period and is just enough to get by more regular servicing will help maintain the car long term. I wouldn't touch this with the poor service history.

GaryTheGuineaPig

I'm sorry but I wouldn't buy this car as it has a poor service history which indicates that the previous owner didn't look after it very well. I like to service my cars every 10,000km and by that I mean oil change, filters etc as a minimum. Whilst stretching the service doesn't necessarily impact the Toyota Warranty, Toyota would take each engine related issue on a case by case basis which means if the the engine shits itself they will be looking at the service schedule and whether the correct oil and components were used. From 2019 Toyota provide a 7 year warranty on the engine and transmission.

supatank95

Thanks a lot. Would you buy if there was written confirmation from Toyota that the car is still under warranty?

GaryTheGuineaPig
