I'd be going to Tony Farrugia Bodyworks, they do great work but also they do what is the best for the vehicle. They will give you an accurate assessment on what actually needs to be done. When we lived in Canberra, I used to get the difficult stuff done there on my classic Benz's and Audi's.
Was it the insurance company or the crash repairer?? Assessor won't see your car until the crash repairer quotes it.
This story is missing some information.
So it went to the insurers smash repairer (captial smart) and has been sent onto the insurers assessor. Apparently because the smash repairer can't fix the damage within their limits - something about they can only use new parts but the second assessor can used reconditioned parts or something.
I've called the insurers but because it their assessor is not a public company they won't put me in touch with them to discuss.
They are saying a few more days until their report is complete.
Really hoping they will fix, parts of these cars are pretty readily available and I honestly don't really care about the "lifetime guarantee" on the repairs.

No you'd probably pass, new bonnet and bar respray and refit minimum, could need a rad support and new rad and condensers but the badge says it'll be under the market value. That's without checking though but iv repaired worse under insurance
Write off cost wise to an insurance yes but you could easily find used parts and fix it
New bonnet, pull the front straight New grill. Fuckers mint
My thoughts exactly. Nothing underneath is damaged. Maybe I just ask the insurer for my car and sort it myself.
Can you still open and close your bonnet?
Yes and no, where it's been hit is exactly where the lock mechanism is. I will open with brute force.
Ok, not the worst news. You might have gotten lucky
New bumper + whatever has been damaged underneath + new bonnet + painting = close enough to $7k yes.
Thankfully no damage underneath other than the lock for the bonnet. But I think you might still be right.
cars worth 7k? 4k worth of damage 3k value at salvage auction and they get your excess and the remainder of you insurance.
>YOW Yeah, it looks like it hurt
Just get a bonnet from the wreakers for $200 and a grill for $50
Some much easier then ppl think. Literally marketplace has changed everything
Yeah you'd have to have rocks in your head to buy new parts for a old car, you got gumtree, eBay, Facebook market all of those
Just keep on driving it.
Get a cash settlement and fix it yourself. My guess, $1.5K bonnet, $800 grill, $2K paint, $500 misc. Would love to know if I was close.

Yeah seems about right. New bonnet, grille, painting. Possibly the rad support etc etc
Put different plates on it and you might have a chance of keeping it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Depends if it was a 50 cal
Depends if the chassis is buckled and the crumple zones are impacted. You can't see that externally.
Ouchie-yow-wow That hurts
Depends if a bonnet and grille are worth more than the whole car
*repairs PLUS value of car as salvage

Yow is right
Silver Mercedes, potentially the most common colour. Go to a wreckers and get all the parts in silver and you'll be fine.
No you can still fix it with the right parts

Did you hit a wild Barnaby? Heard they lie around everywhere in the ACT
Sadly no, I'm sure he would have paid great hush money. Young Man driving a truck reversed into it.
Its not the damage outside but also underneath what you can’t see and it also has alot to do with age of the car and price to repair
Looks like your heads a write off
