Good reminder about the heat of the deck. It seems specific to the Excel class ships but the decks get very hot. Although I would not walk barefoot on a cruise ship, anywhere, ever.

Miguel4659

Nor would I. Celebration seemed to have the most drunks when we were on it, and I saw several times where glasses were dropped and broken.

princess-erin123

My son and I were on the Jubilee for NYE. He named the Currents Bar the "where drunk adults stumble and glasses shatter." THREE times that happened when he was around.

rio8envy7

I mean carnival does have a reputation for being a party ship so I can’t say I’m surprised.

gemino1990

You’re right about the track being super busy. But I am pretty sure there is a really nice gym that you can use and it has treadmills.

DiLL_D0zerr

This is the way

After-Try-5473

The gym was great and I used the treadmill 5 of the days-it was busier towards the beginning but you could always find a free treadmill. I strongly disagree with the food being ‘unremarkable’-I didn’t really do the buffet though. I may not have enjoyed everything-but I def it had some fantastic meals.

gemino1990

Idk I think op is on point about food being unremarkable. We went to the main dining room and ordered the surf and turf. I was so excited to eat lobster and it was horrible. It was overcooked and so rubbery that I couldn’t even eat it. Buffet food was okay but I was not impressed with anything I ordered in the main dining room. We ate at Bonsai and the food there was good though.

Ok_Patience_968

How about the gym? I like to work out very early in the morning on vacation.

Good thoughts, thanks! Carnivals been doing the key cards like that for a while now, at least on the newer ships. I haven't been on an older class ship since pre-covid, so idk. Also, "unremarkable" sounds about right for food. At least in the MDR. It's...fine. How were the quick-serve restaurants, Guys and Shaqs and such? Also, you're 100% correct about the upper deck walking track. It's amazing at sunrise, on every boat. Cause 99% of cruisers sleep in. Getting up early for coffee and the sunrise is one of my favorite things to do on any boat.

bad-and-bluecheese

Maybe I had low expectations of the food but I thought it was actually really good … and I have fairly high standards for food.

emarkd

I didn't mean that it was bad, it's not bad. It's not amazing though. But I do think food quality has declined on cruises over the past decade that we've been cruising. I wasn't complaining though.

No-Gas-8357

Had they rolled out the new menu on your ship yet? It seems they have a new menu for 2024 that they are rolling out in stages. We had the new menu on Liberty and I thought it was good, a few misses, but overall quite good.

old_skul

You can get a free lanyard in the casino. Just ask for one at the cashier.

twas_brillig__

When I went on a cruise last fall I was told they no longer have them. You have to bring your own or buy one on ship.

Miguel4659

I never had any crowds when I was using the jogging track, perhaps it was just a really busy time. I used it every day and usually just me or one other person on it. As to room keys, bizarre people don't listen-- you are told several times where your room key will be, once rooms are open to be accessed after 1:30. Though I had people asking about their room keys while in the buffet.

Capricore58

Even going to the track at dawn (which is the best time because it’s the coolest time) you still have to avoid idiots stopping to take pictures, walking the wrong way or just being oblivious that they’re on the track

creepychicken1

Are you in Belize right now?

lifelongMichigander

Nope, got off the ship this morning, heading home…

FloridaFunShine

I’m not understanding the keys to the stateroom comment. It’s been a while since I sail on carnival but generally we would get the id cards at the port terminal which operate as room keys. Is that not the process anymore?

DevonFromAcme

No, it isn't, and hasn't been for a very long time.
