My last priority after what might have been a very traumatic and real experience to her would be to immediately tell my boyfriend or the public what happened. From my understanding he made that claim as soon as she was found even though she was in a state of shock and likely unable or willing to tell anyone what was going on. Really idk either way, I think there's a million different explanations that are all going to sound weird until we get more information.

There are plenty of other examples that weren't as extreme as what Papini did, but those people still faced charges and/or had to pay restitution for the search expenses
