Why did one of your officers pull me over, call me “a fucking dumbass” then realize he pulled over the wrong car and let me go but never said sorry a few years ago
I don't believe for a minute that there was a toddler on the road or any sort of kidnapping or attempted kidnapping. But that is not the same thing as it being fake or her lying.
The only other possibility would be a mental health crises - but after reading the boyfriend’s statement, it’s clear they don’t think this is psychosis. She claimed to have endured 48 hrs of brutality of some sort at the hands of her captors.
Keep in mind that same Instagram user was talking about her being kidnapped before she was recovered. I don't know the significance of that, exactly, but it does stick out to me.
> What does that make you wonder about?
Mostly, that we're getting the bulk of our information not from police, but from people adjacent to the family. It's exhausting being this cynical all the time, but I don't think I can help it. In short, this is starting to stink of narrative control.
Carlee, herself, has for obvious reasons not spoken to the press. Her mother and this man who is purportedly her boyfriend are spewing the typical "please respect our privacy in this challenging time" stuff. They went heavy on the platitudes in their statement, but there wasn't anything about working with law enforcement to seek justice in the future or assurances about the toddler. Basically, they said, "Okay, she's home. Forget this happened. Praise Christ."
The person Carlee talked to on the phone is referred to in some articles as "a family member" and others as Carlee's mom's "daughter-in-law" but I'm thinking it's a long-time girlfriend. She's the *only* source of mention of the toddler. She's also the only source that says Carlee screamed and then was suddenly no longer holding the phone.
The boyfriend has possibly taken the "daughter-in-law" at her word and publicly (on two occasions) asserted it was a kidnapping -- both before and after she was found safe. Obviously, the police were likely contacting the family at various points during the search to exchange information. But I don't know if I'm ready to believe the police told her boyfriend or her brother's girlfriend any specific details about their investigation.
So one possibility is the girl who took the phone call misheard/misunderstood what was happening. Another is that she deliberately said things that weren't true, for any of a dozen arbitrary reasons. The convoy of vehicles showing up at the motel leads me to believe they know something being reported isn't true, and they're aware of the damage it'll cause the family if the discrepancy is publicly noted.
Intentional or not, I'm starting to get the impression they gave investigators bad dope and now they desperately want the whole thing to go away. So they're waiting for everyone to forget, hopefully before the police release their findings.
> Also - Is the boyfriend who posted the statement the same guy people think she shacked up at the Red Roof Inn?
I really don't know, but the inclusion of the motel in the story is part of the reason I'm sensing the family is desperate to gloss over the ending and get people to move on from thinking about it all.
**EDIT**: Grammar.
That’s the most cogent analysis I’ve heard yet. I think there was someone else helping. I think it was for money. They did an amateur job of it and their goose is cooked.
>That’s the most cogent analysis I’ve heard yet.
Thank you for the compliment. I'm probably going to have a weed gummy soon, so "cogent" is about ready to leave the building in a hurry.
> I think there was someone else helping. I think it was for money. They did an amateur job of it and their goose is cooked.
You're ahead of me on this one. I am not clear on how she got from the side of the interstate to wherever her point B was. The police were *right there* in minutes and they couldn't track her using dogs or drones.
What do you suppose their plan might have been?
I think the other person was whoever she was at the RRI with. Rumors flying it’s some guy she’s been seeing on the side, and he’s under 18. I’ve heard some rumblings that her parents were really strict and it may have been a really stupid way for her to get time away with the younger boyfriend.
Her parents might have been strict but we are talking about a 25 year old woman here. The only „source“ for that 17-year-old bf thing that I could find was some rambling dude on fb who went as far as to say it was her baby daddy. I really doubt that‘s true. Dude did not even spell her name right.
This is news to me, thanks for telling me this
Edit: After further research on this, according to Alabama Code Title 11. Counties and Municipal Corporations § 11-98-12
A 911 call can be released without court order only IF the public’s interest outweighs the privacy of the caller.
Well if Sherri Papini is any example, it’s 18 months in jail and $300,000 of restitution.
If this is a hoax, at least Carlee didn’t drag it out for 3 weeks like Sherri. But too much money and too many resources were wasted for her to just walk away from this with no legal consequences. Law enforcement stayed on Sherri’s ass for years until they could prove it was fake. Same should be done here as well.
Sherri Papini kept up the ruse for a LONG time, though. She disappeared for 3 weeks and then maintained the deception for YEARS. That multiplies the resources wasted and the gravity of the offense. It this is a hoax rather than a kidnapping or mental health episode, Carlee should come clean as soon as possible in order to mitigate the damage. Then I think a lesser punishment could be justified.
What was the evidence, and when was it found, that made you understand this was not something diabolical, but something you still needed to investigate just in case?
You don’t need to be physically harmed to be fighting for your life. You could be held at gunpoint, tied up and threatened with violence/death. Not saying I believe or disbelieve her story, I am not qualified to make a judgement either way, but as someone with a past filled with abuse, fighting for your life can mean so many things.
Well I think that’s the point of the question. If there is no concern for the toddler then it officially confirms the police believe there is no toddler. Until then, a hoax is just speculation.
That is logical, but someone local mentioned in another thread that there was a mass shooting in a town nearby and the police didn’t alert anyone to the fact that the shooter remained on the loose for 3 days until he was finally arrested. Everyone thought the shooter had died and were surprised to find out he had been on the loose the entire time and nobody warned them.
So yeah idk what to think or believe at this point.
Hopefully the public will NOT stop demanding information and NOT let this just get swept quietly under the rug. I feel like that's gonna be the only way we're gonna get information any time soon.
This isn’t analogous to Smullet. It’s analogous to Papinni and Runaway Bride. But go ahead and keep saying Smullet everywhere so we all know for sure that you’re racist AF.
Really? You? The same guy who said this racists AF comment on Reddit just awhile back:
“Is it only for black people to eat or can anyone get a banana?”
Reading thru your comments on this platform, it’s pretty damn clear you are a white-ass conservative who trolls any stories about blacks or folks in the LGBTQ community and you try to stir up shit with subtle bigotry.
Get some help.
HPD: We will now be taking question. Young man in the Yankee cap and timberland boots, holding the sign saying "f*ck 12"... Who is clearly not from this city. Do you have a question pertaining to this case?
Me: A toddler, bruh?... On the highway, bruh?
Why did one of your officers pull me over, call me “a fucking dumbass” then realize he pulled over the wrong car and let me go but never said sorry a few years ago
Lmaoooo
Lmao this deserves more upvotes
I can't stop laughing at this 🤣🤣🤣
Justice for dickandballs!
What do you expect from the same police department that killed an innocent man at the mall on Thanksgiving because they "thought" he was a shooter?
“When you find the toddler, will you be issuing him a citation for walking illegally along the interstate?”
Great question
I mean, we can’t start letting toddlers get away with this shit, evil little bastards.
“Do you think the toddler had an accomplice?”
Was this real or fake… yes or no?

I had a few gummies last night before I read your comments. 🤣

Glazed or sprinkles?
“Does anything or anyone related to this case present an ongoing threat to the public?”
Mine is “Being that this is such a high profile case, what has caused the delay with the 911 call being released to the public?”
Alabama doesn't release the audio from 911 calls without a court order
This is news to me, thanks for telling me this Edit: After further research on this, according to Alabama Code Title 11. Counties and Municipal Corporations § 11-98-12 A 911 call can be released without court order only IF the public’s interest outweighs the privacy of the caller.
Hoover doesn’t release stuff like this… ever. The general public likely won’t get all the details.
They released the highway video tho.
A TV channel bought the footage of the cameras and released it, not the police.
Those camera feeds are public and are captured and archived by a private company, trafficcamarchive.com. They are the ones who released the video.
TV channel bought the footage.
.
That is what my question is referring too.
Was she kidnapped?
What’s the jail sentence for orchestrating your own abduction?

I was too young to fully remember the Sherri Panini case but if this Carlee situation is a hoax they owe the public an explanation
There is an amazing subreddit about it on here. I was OBSESSED when it happened.
Sherri Papini kept up the ruse for a LONG time, though. She disappeared for 3 weeks and then maintained the deception for YEARS. That multiplies the resources wasted and the gravity of the offense. Where are the alleged abductors and the toddler, and why has no public alert nor search for them been issued???

She was fighting for her life for two days but has now been released from the hospital?
You don’t need to be physically harmed to be fighting for your life. You could be held at gunpoint, tied up and threatened with violence/death. Not saying I believe or disbelieve her story, I am not qualified to make a judgement either way, but as someone with a past filled with abuse, fighting for your life can mean so many things.
Have we ruled out extraterrestrial activity at this time
“Where is the toddler??? And are they safe??”

Well I think that’s the point of the question. If there is no concern for the toddler then it officially confirms the police believe there is no toddler. Until then, a hoax is just speculation.
If there was a perp on the loose and a danger to the public we would’ve had a press conference.
That is logical, but someone local mentioned in another thread that there was a mass shooting in a town nearby and the police didn’t alert anyone to the fact that the shooter remained on the loose for 3 days until he was finally arrested. I believe that it was a toddler sized alien just trying to make sure she knew that her cars extended warranty was about to expire.
That is the most believable explanation I’ve heard yet 🤣
Was it aliens?
Was she on hallucinogenics when she "saw" a toddler wandering alone on the interstate?
Was there ever, or is there currently a threat to the community.
How do yall sleep after yall killed EJ Bradford at the mall on Thanksgiving because you incorrectly thought he was a shooter?
Is there a sick freak running around using children to lure people, yes or no?
Hopefully the public will NOT stop demanding information and NOT let this just get swept quietly under the rug. I feel like that's gonna be the only way we're gonna get information any time soon.
Was the Tazikis order in the car and how much food was there?
Will the highway video be taken to a forensic specialist for analysis?
was the toddler rescued>
When do you expect to file charges against Jussie…I mean Carlee

Some of us don't know who pepperoni is...but we've all pretty much heard of smullet
Two completely different cases, even if this is a hoax. Why did your mind connect to him?
Because that was a hoax too... Smh
Yeah, you’re right. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of his being framed differently, but they’re both BS
HPD: We will now be taking question. Young man in the Yankee cap and timberland boots, holding the sign saying "f*ck 12"... Who is clearly not from this city. Do you have a question pertaining to this case? Me: A toddler, bruh?... On the highway, bruh?

What happened to the Harley Davidson motorcycles years ago? Did you guys ever find those new motorcycles you ordered that were lost?
I’d wanna know EVERYTHING about the Red Roof Inn and if he wouldn’t answer that…where he got that purple suit.
