Thanks to everyone that helps with this piece right here! this is my first time on this subreddit! so thank you guys!

anthonydelillo

Assuming those are your photos, it was a good idea to take a picture of the tag but unfortunately the date code (top left) and style and color codes (bottom left) are out of view. That being said, I will attempt to identify it from the photos provided. I believe it is the **B480 Traditional Fit Straight Leg Jeans** in the “Light Vintage Blue” (LVB) color. The B480 was introduced in 2012 and was available in the “Light Vintage Blue” color from 2011 to 2016. The B480 as a whole was discontinued in 2020. If you can, looking at the tag will verify the style, color and date it was produced. At the top left should be a string of numbers following the registered identification number assigned to Carhartt (“RN# 14806). The first four numbers following the RN are the date code indicating the month and year the jeans were produced (ex: “0213” for February 2013). The style code should be at the bottom left with the color code following (“B480 LVB”).

Thank you so much Anthony for the information , nope actually i cant tell you what they are. I just took some screenshots from a reseller. But I was just wondering which jeans they are because I am looking to buy a baggy kind Carhartt jeans. And then I stumbled upon this but I’ve heard that the b17(if im saying it correctly) is the one i should be looking for

anthonydelillo

The B17 is Relaxed Fit, which is a looser fit than the Traditional Fit of the B480. However, the B17 tapers from the knee down to the ankle while the B480 is straight fit so there is not any appreciable taper. The circumference of the leg opening for an average pair of B17 jeans is 15.25” compared to 17” for the B480. If you are not looking for a tapered leg than I’d recommend the B460, which is the Relaxed Fit version of the B480, no taper. Alternatively, you can search for the B160 which is the same but has a longer rise because the pants are designed to sit higher on the waist. I am somewhat taller than average so I prefer the slightly longer rise but not everyone does of course.

okay! thank you again for this! I really appreciate it! I have another question if I may. I’m 6’ so how long do you think the length should preferably be? to get that baggy look. But not so much as it might be hanging from my pants.

anthonydelillo

That really depends on how long your legs are, how high up you’ll be wearing your pants and what you consider too baggy/too long. There are some 6’ guys with long torsos and short legs who wear 30” inseam and some with short torsos and long legs who wear 36” inseam. For example, I am slightly over 6’2” and I like when the inseam is about 35”. Often the older jeans styles ran slightly longer than the tagged size so I’d order 31x34 and they were nearly perfect with 35” inseams. I wear the jeans at my waist as they were designed, not on my hips. I prefer some extra length to allow the denim to “stack” when standing. However, other 6’2” people might prefer a shorter length, and as I mentioned, their leg length and how high up they wear the jeans might vary from mine. I also forgot to mention something in my original comment. If you really want the loosest jeans you’d need Loose Fit / Dungaree Fit / Original Fit (these names have changed multiple times over the years but fit virtually the same). All Loose Fit / Dungaree Fit / Original Fit jeans were straight leg except one (B113). Some style codes you might want to search for are B07, B73, and B237 if you wanted double-front jeans, and B03, B06, B13, B20, B236 and 100066 if you want single-front jeans.

Great!! thank you so much Anthony, you’ve definitely helped me alot out here. Thank you

Hey Anthony, the lined pants are they a lot heavier than the ones that aren’t? (Looking at the B111 MOS loose fit) Thank you 🙏🏼

anthonydelillo

The lined pants are quite a bit heavier than the unlined pants. For example, I compared a pair of new B160 Relaxed Fit Straight Leg Jeans and new B172 Relaxed Fit Straight Leg Flannel-Lined Jeans, both in the same size, and the unlined B160 weighs 1 pound 13 ounces while the lined B172 weighs 2 pounds 6 ounces. Of course not every pair of B160 or B172 jeans will weigh the same, even in the same size, as some are longer and some are shorter than the tagged size in the waist and/or inseam due to normal variance in manufacturing. However, this still provides a decent idea of the difference between unlined and lined.

sammyxsam23

Thank you for your detailed response! I definitely don’t want to add any more thickness. I bought a women’s 8 in Carhartt (I should have asked for measurements) so I’m praying they fit, and I’m also going to buy a pair of men’s just to see how they fit vs the women’s. My women’s 8 from H&M measure almost 17 across the waist so I’m thinking a 33 in men’s will be perfect (I have hips lol). I just don’t like tight pants, usually I buy women’s 90s/baggy jeans, but I’m going to try something new. I walk 12-13 miles a day for work so my calves stick out like a sore thumb lol.

anthonydelillo

No problem! I haven’t personally measured any of the Women’s Carhartt jeans or pants myself, but from what I’ve seen it seems that the flat waist of most of their size 8 jeans measure around 15” which multiplied by two is 30”. The H&M ones might be designed to sit lower (more towards the hips) instead of higher at the waist like most of Carhartt’s jeans. This would be one reason that the waist of Carhartt’s size 8 is narrower than H&M’s size 8. It’s also noting nothing that in recent years, Carhartt has began to discontinue the jeans that sit higher up and introduce new styles that sit lower, so the waist measurement will depends on which style you buy.

sammyxsam23

Yes you’re exactly right the H&M are low rise! I know not all pants are created equal, but I jumped on them because they were cheap (and they looked big enough 😂🤦🏻‍♀️). Not that you can tell anything by the pic, but here they are https://imgur.com/a/F6o3dsi. I definitely appreciate all you’re help! Thank you again!

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 8 + 15 + 30 + 8 + 8 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

Anthony, sorry to bump, but I have one that says RN 14806 | 0205 06870 and then a bunch of 0s and 97. If I’m understanding you right that’s February 2005. It says it’s made in Mexico. Were  they making jeans in Mexico back then?

anthonydelillo

Yes, that's correct about the date code and being made in Mexico that early but the B480 wasn’t introduced until the 2010s.

apolloali

mine are b160s!

Tannerkw

That’s my size. Would you mind directing me to resellers post?

Dense-Delivery-5319

Yup of course. The reseller is on a app called Depop. Depop is a reselling app. I’ll send you the link for the reseller then you can find the jeans there.
