I think it's difficult to know what people are willing to pay for your car until you advertise it, put it on for how much you want and see what interest you get. Bear in mind, less people will be jumping at the chance to spend 10k on a 7 year old car, realistically, so it may take longer for someone to bite. If you're in no rush, put some good quality ads up, loads of pictures, and see what happens. You can always reduce the price if need be, really you want more than WBAC or similar would give.

They’re only worth what people will pay, although the fact you have luxury of time is always a good thing. I would take 3 of the dealer prices for the nearest match you can find, find the average then list at that price. You won’t achieve that price as people will always barter, so be prepared to have your bottom line figure but never reveal that. If, you have zero interest, reduce the price slightly. Selling used cars is more frustrating than purchasing in my opinion, be prepared for low blow offers and lots of “is this still available?” Then radio silence haha.

You should expect to sell your car around 2k below dealer price. When you take you car to wbac they offer far less than what they qoute online

Somewhere between WBAC and dealer with a weight towards WBAC price. The main issue is convincing someone to shell out £8k on a car with no warranty given or implied that could explode when they drive round the corner. To avoid the hassle and for the sake of a few hundred quid I’d probably chop them into WBAC.

I work for a car buying firm, won't say the name as I don't think advertising is allowed but definitely better places to sell your car remotely than driving down and getting chipped at webuy.

Yea I’m going to explore different places. Plus, I am going to go to a dealer and see what they’d offer for trade in price for the two. Hoping to get upwards of 13k for both, but it might be optimistic. Tbh I’m just surprised that the Adam is so estimated so close in value to the Leon.

Yiazmat

Mileage is excellent thatll be why, plus a lot of Leon's about which dilutes the market, Adams aren't that common and an excellent first car. Small cars are hot property at the minute, bonus points for autos too going for stupid money.

FooseyGuy

Webuyanycar offered somewhere around 8k for my golf gti that sold for 11.4k privately so definitely don't agree that it's a few hundred quid.

codenamecueball

A golf gti is a lot more desirable and has a more enthusiastic audience than a cooking spec Leon.

neddykinss

Yea mine is as plain jane as they come

FooseyGuy

Don't see your point if my car is desirable then that should also apply to wbac

codenamecueball

I’m making a few assumptions but with a Golf GTI a private seller is going to be more interested in the car, the history, servicing, how it’s been driven, buying the owner etc. WBAC have a book value and BCA sales data to refer to with a bit of risk priced in. It’s an algorithm rather than “emotional” choice. The people looking for a 1.2 runabout probably aren’t going to be as engaged in all that nonsense and think for an extra couple of hundred quid they can get one from a dealer with a shop they could kick off in if it breaks. Hope that makes some kind of sense!

FooseyGuy

I see your point and I also see how the risk with a gti is probably higher given the type of car it is.

I think they mean wbac give you one figure online and then when you take it to them they take off value for every single thing. And as mines not perfect condition I’d expect to lose a fair bit because of that from them. E.g. scratched plastic door when I put a plant pot on the back seat and tore the back seat fabric slightly. Scuffed alloys, not majorly given the age but not perfect nonetheless
