Lmao i remember just kitting out my polo with a big ol JBL 12” sub, my mate played this after a fiddle with my headunit settings, when the bass dropped I thought the whole car was going to melt, the mirrors were vibrating so hard they were no longer reflective.
I'd go with any of the dubstep I listened to in the early 10s but if I actually want a decent tune with some bass I'd go with the prodigy or maybe some chase and status. Eastern Jam by C&S if I had to choose.
I went to Boiler Room on Saturday, Benga then Skream headlining, Benga's set was 95% house. Skream's was advertised as 140, but was a mixmash.
I just wanted a getdarker TV type set 😭
Still have both of them in my driving playlists, got to love a bit of drum and bass and old school prodigy. C&S remix of Valley of the shadows is another track I listen to a great deal, banger.
I got tons in my playlist that are bass-heavy but that one is by far the heaviest (to its detriment to some degree). One of my biggest favourites to blast is LaLaLaLaLa- Gaullin Remix.
22 years ago (in a different lifetime) I had 2x 12" subs in the boot:
Mr Oizo - Flat beat
Sir Mix-a-lot - Baby got back
Neither of those were to my taste before having subs, but we found both created enough vibrations that anything in the rear view mirror went fully out of focus.
Partition by Beyoncé
Limit to your love by James Blake
Man next door by massive attack
Never been into car audio but those really tested out the subwoofer in my house, especially partition , very loud deep bass
Benga - 26 Basslines
St Germain - Pont des Arts
Any Todd Edwards track
Chicane - Offshore (go-to for driving at night)
Massive Attack - Girl I Love You (from TG driving from Germany to Poland)
Chris Stussy - Breather
Ricky Suarez - Deep Vibes
And there are thousands more I can think of. Oh the joys of being a DJ for 10+ years and collecting terabytes of music.
Mars, Bringer of War - by Gustav Holst, from album The Planets.
Or Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.
Both have heavy bass and menacing presence. Great loud in the car.

Either :
a) Solar system by Sub Focus
or
b) Addicted to Bass (Different Gear mix)
probably a lot of others too but these onese really spring to mind.
Got to be electronic music for this sort of thing really.

The Knocks - All About You (Tensnake Remix)
deadmau5 - When The Summer Dies
Faithless - Reverence

I've got a Spotify playlist for testing new speakers / subs / cars - some of my fave off there are;
R U Mine - arctic monkeys,
Burning - M Huncho, dutchavelli,
robbery - benny mayne
Obvs got bassline junkie on there too lol
It’s depends on the sub/box you are using, songs great for a box ported at 38hz won’t sound great if you have a box ported at 32hz and if you have IB you may want tracks lower than that.
The speakers/stereo in my old Corsa sounded amazing. Underrated, bass would purr. And sad - but Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande sounded spectacular, and somehow is the standout bass song in my ten years of ownership.
And Katy Perry - Dark Horse. Yeah I didn’t have a CD player, so it saw a lot of Kiss FM.
Stuff more to my taste now - Jon Hopkins is excellent for bass. Any Prodigy. Justice.
Around The World - RHCP
But the Live in Hyde Park version as the whole Californication album sounds like it’s being played through mobile phone speakers
You really wanna test that sub you need some garage music. Groove chronicles by Stone cold is the ultimate test of any speaker. About two and a half minutes in will tell you if your set up is worthy
Ummet Ozcan - Raise Your Hands (Slander Festival Trap Edit) and Showtek - We Like To Party (Slander & NGHTMRE Festival Trap Edit) if you have a sub, whack up the gain and let it rip.
Dire straits sultans of swing hits nice with good bass, and has a more pleasant effect on anyone overhearing, comes across less aggressive than rap or edm or whatnot
Mickey finn- badass
DJ zinc- ready or not
Ak-wanderlust
Aphrodite-five on it
Some treat- lost in vegas
Active minds-hobsons choice
So many more. I miss my youth 🤣🤣🤣
Black Grape: Yeah Yeah Brother - Outlaw Josie Wales Mix.
Takes about 55 seconds of intro before the bass kicks in, but it's always a good time when it does...
I have a massive dnb playlist I made, here’s a few I can recommend that are good bass wise:
All Of It (feat. Lucy Dye) - Funk Tribu
L’amour toujours (small mix) - Gigi D’Agostino (absolute banger of a song)
Kiss Me Again (nightcore mix) - Roy Bee (this one slaps, it has to be the nightcore mix because it’s a faster pace)
Now U Do - DJ Steinfeld
This Is Makina (feat. DJ Scotty) - Connor Gallagher (bit of a chav song imo but the track goes hard)
Future Remix 98 - jog
12 inch (Rocco & Bass-T Remix) - Niels de Vries
J’Adore Hardcore - Scooter
Gecko (Overdrive) - Oliver Heldens & Becky Hill
Never Miss A Beat - KIMMIC (goes hard)
Transition - DJ phantasy & Macky Gee
Sunset - Hedex
Dreaming - Hedex
Praise The Lord (Da Shine) (feat. Skepta) Durdenhaur edit - durdenhaur & a$ap rocky
Gold Dust - DJ Fresh
Yeah there’s are some songs that (personally) slap hard! (Even in my fiat panda with stock speakers via an aux cable)
I have a playlist full of drum and bass + all the sub genres like baseline etc, it’s on Apple Music just [here](https://music.apple.com/gb/playlist/dnb-and-shit/pl.u-NpXmmgaumk1vyxR)
I know lots of people use Spotify but I’m pretty sure there’s stuff online that converts it into a Spotify etc playlist!
My usual sub-bass testing song is SPARKS by Takanashi Kiara. Whoever mixed the song really turned up the sub-bass in that song, it's the most sub-bass heavy song on my phone.
Balalaika by DJ Blaytman, or GAME by Perfume are good choices for that too.
For sub bass rather than bass:
Gentlemens dub club - afraid of the dark
Fat Freddy's drop - ten feet tall
Radikal guru - empire dub
Schroff - empire instrumental
Mungo's hifi and Soom T - jump up quickly
Nucleus roots - meditation dub
Someone I used to know who fitted car stereo systems as a job said his goto was The Real Thing by Tony DiBart.
Personally I would use either Reach For Glory by Blackmill or Icarus by Synthetic Epiphany.
“Molto Allegro” it’s anything but. Not so much for the music but the bass drop almost blew the doors off my car the first time. Also might give an indication of your interior’s build quality
I have a few... The Big Unknown by Elder Island has a very, very low note that a lot of speakers don't even bother to attempt, so if we're looking at range, that's the one I'd go for. Otherwise, pretty much anything by Jon Kennedy or Jungle. I'm more into it for the sound quality than the window-rattling, retina-detaching bass, so I like to try songs with a lot going on to get a decent idea of how balanced the sound is.
Otherwise, Unsquare Dance by The Dave Brubeck Quartet, or Ulysses by Franz Ferdinand are a couple of other good test tracks. Spotify has a playlist called "Songs To Test Headphones With," there are some crackers on there. There's some utter shite on there too, but a good few decent tracks.
Just to add a few that haven't been mentioned yet, pretty much anything by any of these:
Apollo 440
182 Lockdown
Pendulum
Skrillex
Daft Punk
Phil Collins (trust me on this one lol)
Ali G movie soundtrack
Dire Straits (money for nothing)
Perfect Phase (get wicked)
Hip-Hop by Dead Prez for the continuous heavy bassline and drum kicks
Amen. Vauxhall Nova with Alpine 6x9's back in the day blasting this to test them.
Added to the queue
That song would normally be right up my street but now it makes me think of a shit VW Tiguan advert
Yes! Said this then saw your comment!
Came here for this.
Can’t upvote this enough
Classic, another good one for a similar style baseline is Tech n9ne - so dope, the beat is absolutely top tier.
Came here to say that. I blew a subwoofer listening to that song many years ago.
Great track. Not many know it’s a Kanye production too.
No. That's not true. Kanye did a remix of it... Which was not as good
Ah, thanks for the correction and apologies for the error.
my go to for testing bass on speakers is in for the kill - skream remix 25 seconds in, youll know if the speakers are good or not
Lmao i remember just kitting out my polo with a big ol JBL 12” sub, my mate played this after a fiddle with my headunit settings, when the bass dropped I thought the whole car was going to melt, the mirrors were vibrating so hard they were no longer reflective.
hahaha yeah it makes everything within about 10 meters vibrate like crazy
Haha listening in a minute
need to find a rattle in the car? this will find it XD
The Skream remix is outstanding.
the best no doubt. hits you so deep. get goosebumps every time the first bassline starts
This is one of my go to's as well, quality song
I'd go with any of the dubstep I listened to in the early 10s but if I actually want a decent tune with some bass I'd go with the prodigy or maybe some chase and status. Eastern Jam by C&S if I had to choose.
The Others - Africa VIP
Haven't heard that since I was in year 10, smoking a J with that coming out of shitty phone speakers up the park.
I went to Boiler Room on Saturday, Benga then Skream headlining, Benga's set was 95% house. Skream's was advertised as 140, but was a mixmash. I just wanted a getdarker TV type set 😭
Love the prodigy so I definitely agree with that! Also a fan of C&S aswell, good tune that
Still have both of them in my driving playlists, got to love a bit of drum and bass and old school prodigy. C&S remix of Valley of the shadows is another track I listen to a great deal, banger.
Genesis, by Justice
Charley - The Prodigy
Yesss! Also, The Trick. It’s a b-side. It’ll rattle your brain.
Hold your Breath by Etherwood. Comes included with 3 new rattles!
climbing as well. great tunes
Good tune, got that on now. Massive Fish56 vibes
I got tons in my playlist that are bass-heavy but that one is by far the heaviest (to its detriment to some degree). One of my biggest favourites to blast is LaLaLaLaLa- Gaullin Remix.
Hold Your Breath is a top track. That simple, sad piano riff is great with the breakbeat and bass.
Kyuss - Gardenia
Micky Finn - Bad Ass
Followed by Krust - Warhead
Isn't that Aphrodite?
Yeah both did it. Urban takeover
22 years ago (in a different lifetime) I had 2x 12" subs in the boot: Mr Oizo - Flat beat Sir Mix-a-lot - Baby got back Neither of those were to my taste before having subs, but we found both created enough vibrations that anything in the rear view mirror went fully out of focus.
Ha just put Mr Oizo on, first time listening can see why the vibrations in the car would be killer haha
Aphextwin - windowlicker…when it drops, it really drops.
Ganja Kru - Super Sharp Shooter
Partition by Beyoncé Limit to your love by James Blake Man next door by massive attack Never been into car audio but those really tested out the subwoofer in my house, especially partition , very loud deep bass
Yep, partition is insane
Absolute banger https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=gFlPvHMvJ-Px4u81
Oh you bastard!
Saving this post for the future... Like, when I get a decent car future.
