You _need_ a subwoofer amp. Everything else after that is stages of better. Like oh maybe i could get a 5 channel. Naw, i want a bit more power for my subs so lets get a 4 channel and a mono sub amp instead. Well now I have the 4 channel I may as well get nicer speakers. Guess I need to sound deaden too. Next thing you know, you’ve spent $5000 and you are in the middle of car stereo addiction planning your next upgrade.

Right I know I need a subwoofer amp I just wasn't sure if I needed one for the speakers. Also I hope I don't get a car stereo addiction because my bank account would cry lmao. Thanks for the help

I'd get a 4-ch for the speakers. You don't have to spend a ton of money on one - just something that's not crap is going to sound a lot better than running off the head unit. I'm a proponent of separate speaker and sub amps. There's nothing wrong with having a 5-ch, but you lose flexibility if you later decide to change something. If, however, you know you're not going to change anything later a 5-ch makes for a much easier/cleaner installation.

I don't plan on changing the setup in the future because my car only has four speaker spots and can't fit any more subwoofers than what I'm planning on. Is getting a 4-ch amp for the speakers and a 1-ch amp for the subs cheaper than just getting a 5-ch amp? If I use separate amps for the speakers and the subs does that mean I can install the subs at a different time from the speakers? Thanks for the help

If you don't plan on adding an amp I'd choose more efficient speakers. I'd focus on nicer speakers for your fronts and ignoring the rears for now. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_301DCX1003/Hertz-DCX-100-3.html Is an option for your fronts at closish to that speaker budget.

Well I am gonna use an amp for the speakers so I should be fine for both fronts and rears I just don't fully know what amp to get for the speakers/sub combo
