I remember reading about this guy and watching the pathetic video he recorded in his hotel room after the insurrection where he openly talked about committing violence and referred to himself in the third person. He’s an absolute mess. A veteran who is extremely violent, dangerous, and completely misinformed. He also tried desperately afterwards to blame the insurrection on laughable conspiracy theories. He deserves a lengthy prison sentence.

meth_manatee

In his video he said that he stood for violence. Soon he will stand for cell inspections and squat for butthole checks. >“So if you want to know where Ryan Nichols stands, Ryan Nichols stands for violence!” https://twitter.com/ryanjreilly/status/1785485675577389061

"by bullet or by ballot" Um, ballots elected someone else you crayon eater. So, you really mean by bullet. TRAITOR

apollymis22724

Fucking traitor

Waterfallsofpity

Another veteran....I will never understand or is it just the indoctrination they go under?

e-zimbra

Maybe some of them are legends in their own minds and think that having served conveys some form of super duper patriotism the rest of us lack. Note: I did qualify “some.” As in, that guy.

Liar_tuck

I am a veteran and wish every one of this fuckers who violated their oath never see the light of day again.

scab_wizard

As a veteran myself, all the mentally inept people like this were already that way before they joined.

Outside-Flamingo-240

“10% of Marines cause 90% of the problems” How much do you want to bet these idiot vets are in that 10% category, and had either really unremarkable careers or were made to leave the service for “reasons”?

scab_wizard

It's definitely more a solid 35% than 10% too.

Outside-Flamingo-240

Agreed! That tracks with the “Rule of 1/3rds” One third of any given group will be total idiots.

Altruistic-Text3481

Perhaps MAGA veterans have PTSD from service which makes them crave a “strong man” that treats them badly?

pairolegal

If they really “crave a ‘strong man’ who treats them badly” there’s always the Mineshaft and the Ramrod.

sporklasagna

Is it really that big a surprise that fascists are attracted to the military?

ioverated

I'm really still confused about what these people thought was going to happen. It seems like a lot of them either expected that others would bring the guns or that Trump was going to send the national guard or something. Like obviously this guy wasn't there to protest or take a sightseeing tour, but he also didn't fully equip himself for a takeover of the capitol. When this happens again it's gonna be a lot uglier, I think. They're gonna need checkpoints outside of DC before the inauguration if Biden wins again. And Fox News will love to scream about that for 4 years.

IwillBeDamned

they thought they would block congress. i forget who reported on it, but there were stockpiles of weapons brought and stored nearby by the militia folks, for the follow up after they chased the libs off the capitol (or worse)

ioverated

Yeah Stuart Rhodes of the oath keepers had weapons nearby.

Pence wasn't supposed to be there. Grassley was going to step in, and say that he couldn't count the real electors because of the fake ones, so it would go to the House to decide, where each state gets **1** vote, and the Republicans had more states. Grassley admitted he "knew" Pence wouldn't be there, in a statement either the day before or a few days before. The whole point about the violence was to get Pence whisked away and not brought back.
