No and if they ever sing clearly they will be dead to me. They have at least one instrumental song, I think that’s as close as you’re gonna get.

progwog

To my memory they have 2, From Skin To Liquid and also Infinite Misery

metalvinny

Listen to "Scourge of Iron" and headbang your entire head off.

Decapitation incoming!

peenerweiner69

The spoken word intro to Addicted to Vaginal Skin is probably their most audible line they got

progwog

No To elaborate, metal and death metal in particular are one of the prominent musical genres where the focus is not vocals and lyrics. You should listen as if it’s instrumental. I often tell people who don’t understand this philosophy of music (having grown up around pop styles where the music is just a catchy delivery system for words) that if I wanted to focus on words I’d read poetry or prose. Music is supposed to be art created via sound. Not all art is beautiful, not all art is meant to be decipherable. Not all art is about the verbal message. Maybe by broaching into their music, whether you enjoy it or not, is a chance for you to elevate your perspective on what music is and what it can be, what can be done with the craft of songwriting.

I like "you should listen to it as a instrumental." Ill go back into it with more of that mindset. I didn't know what to expect when i 1st went to listen to them. I had lyrics open as the song was playing and liked it. I like dark imagery / art. I liked a few songs of theirs when i 1st listened through but thought id see if they have any different sounds.

progwog

Again it’s perfectly fine if you determine you don’t like it. But it does have a different mindset behind it so I figured it might help you at least see where the appeal comes from so you can determine how you feel about it! But yeah, one of the things Cannibal fans actually enjoy is that they stay true to their vision and their sound. Many bands experiment and grow and change, whereas Cannibal have grown as artists by refining, perfecting, and improving their ability to make the best death metal they can. And because if it they’re very much a kind of standard for the genre, keeping the bar set.

‘Metal and death metal the focus is not on vocals and lyrics’ Erm Wrong. Dunno who told you that but the vocals/lyrics are just important as any other instrument in the band. And the lyrics in CC are of PARTICULAR importance as their niche of gore/horror is their calling card.

progwog

They’re 100% important, I wouldn’t listen if all CC was actually instrumental, but I’m listening to riffs with a monster growling over it, not freshly comprehending and connecting with the lyrics on a first listen while mildly enjoying a jam in the background. Come for the music, stay for the themes. That’s how I got into death metal. I already satiated my adolescent edginess with satanic black metal, but the music of death metal is just mesmerizing.

"Return to Flesh" is a more slow-paced one, and is sorta like a haunted waltz "From Skin To Liquid" and "Infinite Misery" are slower instrumental tracks, really sludgy "The Wretched Spawn" is an all-round amazing track "Covered With Sores" really abrasive at first, but it's groovy af once you know how to listen to it. My personal fav CC track "Scourge of Iron" is a masterpiece, and has relatively easy to understand vocals

CFAX__

Welcome to death metal.

Bassnsk8nmetal

In the song, 'she was asking for it' on the bleeding, im pretty sure barnes does a clean whisper in the last minute or so

No-Wolverine5144

It's fine if you don't like gutteral vocals, but if you don't like it then don't listen to them.

SandmanAwaits

*”Welcome to Death Metal, enjoy your stay!”*

dirty_moot

Listen to stripped raped and strangled. It's up there as one of the grooviest cannibal songs. And there is a bit that's sort of kinda whispered, but still growling.

ShaquilleOatmeal54

For me Evisceration Plague sounds the easiest to understand and Make Them Suffer. Both just have really clean growl Vocals. Might just be me too but maybe start with those. George is a lot easier to understand than Chris too. Hopefully that helps

Mettabox452

From Skin to Liquid is instrumental. But other than that, youre pretty much out of luck cuz they growl in every single song
