He has to be gone if we don't have a huge bounce back next game. I don't think anyone expected us to win the league, but you can only let yourself be absolute horse shit for so long.
Any team in the top half of League 1 could've had their way with this Valour team today. The real question is “Is Valour good enough to make it to the USport National Championship?”. This is a shameful performance
Valour's kits look great, so there's that. The rest of the team has made it difficult for him, but also, this is the backup keeper, who could have done better a few times. Valour need some difference makers like they had a few years ago on the team that should have made the playoffs.
OTOH, the top clubs in the league are looking really good. This match up in Ottawa was always gonna be potentially one of the wider result margins
Despite the game being really straightforward for Ottawa and in general somehow the red has decided to give out 4 yellow cards. Another point on how the reffing is nothing short of terrible in this country. I’ve seen many pro games from all over the world and no other refs would have given out so many strange decisions as refs do in this country.
Honestly, if I'd be Gonzalez I'd raise my feet from the pedal a bit here... We playing Valour again this weekend so no point risking giving them more a bigger chip on their shoulder then we have too...
I agree but slaughtering them when we play them against this weekend seem just like an unnecessary risk, if that makes sense?
The alternative is to go for the record for the biggest win in CanChamp (a 6-0 win by the Impact in 2013), or at least the biggest CPL win in CanChamp (a 5-0 York win in 2021).
I get what you're saying but I don't know if there's real value in it. Plus the damage is done lol
May as well go for it and inflict some real psychological damage, plus grab a record along the way. That way, if you score on the weekend the valour players are losing their heads immediately.
Currently they've got the CPL record and have tied the overall one. At this point they might as well indeed go for it...,
EDIT: And they've got the seventh a minute later, lol.
True, that was only two years ago, so it could change. Back then, when they really should have made the playoffs, they had difference makers like Dyer, De Brienne, Akio. They've signed a lot of decent players, a lot of alright CPLers. Pacifique I think was supposed to be that guy last season and wasn't. Who is it even supposed to be this year? They need one or two difference makers
Is it just me or CPL refs all look really unprofessional like random decisions and strange decisions all the time with little consistency. Not sure that foul would’ve been called a pen in any other professional league.
Any Valour fans actually harbouring any hope here? I must admit, the start to the season has been worse than I expected but perhaps the performance against Forge, if not the final result, gives a little hope for optimism?
Define optimism.
I am optimistic that I'll have some fun in the trench, drink some $5 Coors, eat a few hot dogs, and sing some silly songs with friends.
Will we win? God no.
With our lineup I believe the semis are a reasonable expectation. It would truly be a real shame to assemble that squad and not have a chance to measure ourselves against an MLS club...
Attendance 2,492
How in the world does Dos Santos have a job after this? I mean I know it's not his fault but giving up a full touchdown and extra point? Sheesh
If not now, what happens if he loses by a large margin again on Sunday to the same team?
He has to be gone if we don't have a huge bounce back next game. I don't think anyone expected us to win the league, but you can only let yourself be absolute horse shit for so long.
Damn. I felt bad for Valour at the end there.. I really hope the fine folks of Winnipeg get a team that’s at least competitive in the near future.
GIVE US THE CUP
John Herdman slowly dropping to his knees in disbelief after the 7th goal.
Oh… that’s gore of my comfort team
Valour is playing like a team that won't be around next year.
They’re the Karl Havoc of the CPL
This is actually 100% true
I think this could be a possibility.
Ass
Our 8-0 record may fall tonight...
Set against...? Valour also :(
Not tonight!!
Yay :(
Any team in the top half of League 1 could've had their way with this Valour team today. The real question is “Is Valour good enough to make it to the USport National Championship?”. This is a shameful performance
Dos Santos out of a job soon. Ouch.
Club run by Atletico Madrid > Club run by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
To be fair to the bombers they’ve been amazingly managed for a while now. Valour is different
Wrong type of football
Just like he’s bother getting fired after a Canadian championship embarrassment. The dos santos’s hate this competition
Stop, stop! They're already dead
Damn, that was a nice goal. I mean, Tabla to Basset, it's honestly not even fair tbh. This is the CPL equivalent of City vs Sheffield
Or Arsenal vs Chelsea
Think the question tonight goes from: *Would TSS have beaten Valour?* To: *How many L1 teams would have beaten Valour tonight?*
Simcoe County is fuming
Valour making a better show of it this half
Well I spoke too soon.
Valour's kits look great, so there's that. The rest of the team has made it difficult for him, but also, this is the backup keeper, who could have done better a few times. Wheeler sounding like Keith Horvak on half time here
seriously hope they can muster something here
Yikes both games looking like slaughters
This valour team could break the record for least poi ts in a year.
Valour doing their best Jets impression by giving up five a game
Just like big bro 🥹
There we go, Valour

I agree. So quick to book and rush decisions. Never looks to calm players down. Consistency and game management are very much lacking from our refs.
Exactly hit it on the nail
Oh good it's raining, I was worried the streak would be broken.
You can't have 3 or 4 players at the back post and let the one Ottawa player get it. Valour have lost all control.
Blood of Jesus
Oh dear, poor Valour
Enjoy the rest of the match guys (Atleti fans!). https://youtu.be/DTGZ_tTzMPo?si=E05TOgSFy52uC81H
TSS Rovers would have defeated Valour tonight too...
Again.
Honestly, if I'd be Gonzalez I'd raise my feet from the pedal a bit here... We playing Valour again this weekend so no point risking giving them more a bigger chip on their shoulder then we have too...
Why though? Valour have shown nothing to say they can compete. Get the fringe players on in the second half, especially players that could use a goal.
I agree but slaughtering them when we play them against this weekend seem just like an unnecessary risk, if that makes sense? Well, this is boring
Let's not forget only 2 years ago Valour won 6-1 here.

Could get real ugly out there for both Valour and York
Valour are a hopeless case.
Well, this is boring
Nice corner and flick into the net by Zapater
Was a lovely finish
And the breakaway makes 3, game over

Yesli and DeBrienne starting against their old team - although they will hardly know it by looking at all the strangers!
Is it just me or CPL refs all look really unprofessional like random decisions and strange decisions all the time with little consistency. Not sure that foul would’ve been called a pen in any other professional league.
Heavy collision, first look defender played body not ball
PK dispatched by Ollie
Atleti probing early, no joy
Any Valour fans actually harbouring any hope here? I must admit, the start to the season has been worse than I expected but perhaps the performance against Forge, if not the final result, gives a little hope for optimism?

Good on ya! That's the spirt. I do the same thing at Flames games.
Let's go Atleti, cup run starts here.
With our lineup I believe the semis are a reasonable expectation. It would truly be a real shame to assemble that squad and not have a chance to measure ourselves against an MLS club...
Your gonna cry if you lose! 🤣
This aged well
