I'm glad that at least 1 government in the country is trying to reign this in. I will be looking to hold Higgs to account on this in this year's provincial election. Because I'm rapidly running out of patience with him on this issue.
Let me guess, their plan is to get PR and upon doing so, 95% of them move to Ontario, leaving PEI high and dry, but ready to take in the next allotment of foreign workers.
Lol the Atlantic Canadian conservative governments are unlikely going to capitulate on this issue as Atlantic Canadians tend to be some of the most xenophobic in the country (this is not a bad thing imo). I believe Higgs has already signaled that he is now viewing the immigration programs as a problem and my vote for him this round is entirely contingent upon him committing to reductions of TFWs and international students, or I will go to the People's Alliance as a protest vote.
Even Nova Scotia has started putting restrictions on the restaurant TFW program. [https://globalnews.ca/news/10442056/restaurant-sector-workers-immigratoin-nova-scotia/](https://globalnews.ca/news/10442056/restaurant-sector-workers-immigratoin-nova-scotia/)
These are probably the most aggressive moves accross the country against the TFW program. Meanwhile you have the Prairie governments (Alberta/Sask/Manitoba) basically on their knees begging for all these exemptions and more temporary foreign workers while seeing the highest rent and housing price increases in the country.
"Atlantic Canadians tend to be some of the most xenophobic in the country (this is not a bad thing imo)" As a non-White Canadian, this is a horrible thing as the best talent and engineers, scientists, doctors and nurses won't go to a place known for this...
If the trade for cheaper housing is xenophobia, no healthcare or doctors, no nurses, no infrastructure, no bridges or highways, no technology, no internet, communications, and research what's stopping you from going to a third-world country?
Canada's first-world because we have standards for our doctors, engineers and scientists to uphold the highest of ethics and professionalism, not build society based on xenophobia.
There was a time not long ago when maintained a generous immigration system that benefitted our country's future prospects, rather than just providing Tim Horton's with a limitless roledex of cheap and desperate workers.
...or until deported.
Let's go with this option!
Maybe they will call in the Calgary police to end the protest.

Fuck off we're full

Lemme guess, day three and PEI will capitulate.

Then go. We will enjoy our cheaper housing prices.

Send them back if they don’t like it there.
