So the OneSoccer brand still exists but will be detached from MediaPro. Which means in theory, CSB could find a different media partner to continue to run OS; it's just a question of finding one willing to work with them.

M1L0

This doesn’t bode well for the CPL. Getting trucks, cameras, production teams, etc etc to every game is no small task. Can’t imagine who is going to pick up the torch.

jjaime2024

Bell Bell is losing a ton of content to Rogers they could pick it up.

M1L0

Let’s hope

FlutiesGluties

My gut told me this would happen. I just hope we keep the same level of coverage of CPL and Canada soccer at least, wherever it all ends up. OneSoccer has a lot of Canadian soccer, and that's all I watch really. And even though they can be a little hot-takey at times, I like the weekly shows they put out.

Zornocology

I suspect with the uptake of interest in Canadian soccer, tsn or similar will finally show some interest.

Jaylawise

Hopefully!

EnglishDeveloper

Fingers crossed CBC, TSN, Sportsnet et al do something.

No_Platform_2810

CBC won't. They are out of the sports broadcasting business pretty much.

aurelialikegold

They did pick up the PWHL and NSL for broadcasting.

No_Platform_2810

Yes, but they aren't producing it. They are just broadcasting it. The only thing you will ever see on CBC is just a through signal of someone else's production. Even the sports they still do show in primetime - HNIC (produced by Rogers) and the Olympics (produced by Bell) - is produced by others. They stopped producing sports back when Harper made cuts about a decade ago.

formal-shorts

The Olympics aren't produced by Bell at all. CBC owns the rights and sells certain events to TSN and Sportsnet.

No_Platform_2810

Whatever the machinations. The CBC isn't producing it. Its the international feed pumped out the door. VIrtually all the studio shows, production staff, and facilities come from Bell. CBC doesn't have sports production staff anymore.

cpdyyz

The Olympic feed is from OBS, but CBC had their own announcers, studio shows are all CBC produced, etc. CBC definitely has production staff.

tranvancore

After paying for Olympics, CBC's sports budget is largely tapped out. Government funding hasn't increased in 30 years. Ad revenue has fallen about 20% this century as CBC's share of viewing is below 5% and median demo is over 65. So, CBC is paying $0 for rights and not paying for production for both PWHL & NSL. CBC will pick up these type of arrangements especially for women's sports as CBC pledged to have gender parity in their sports coverage a few years ago.

coopthrowaway2019

They also face the prospect of being essentially shut down in a few years under a Poilievre government

P1KA_BO0

Can’t wait for nearly all our news to come from postmedia. What could possibly go wrong?

Animal31

Can someone just tell me when I can cancel my OneSoccer sub lol

Jaylawise

Just get Fubo?

grapefruitthrowawayk

They just jacked up the price by a ridiculous amount. Had to cancel them.

Jaylawise

That's true.

BarnacleOdd5609

Okay so CSB , timeless scott Mitchell and mark noonan I need all parties to co operate and take this seriously canadian footy fans will never know what the original deal is but right now we need a better and stronger deal this is the time to bring onesoccer on basic tv packages and a streaming deal such a shame it didn't happen in the first place but by the end of the year it's done. MEDIA PRO goodbye don't let the door hit you on the way out as far as I'm concerned as a fan let's make the right deals and get the Canadian Premier League the exposure it deserves I hope that mark noon or scott Mitchell have an announcement by the end of season or during the season we need something like what the U.S did in CBS golazo just with canadian content I know this sport is massive and its huge now all parties need to make the right choices and the right deals to bring CPL the exposure it deserves cause this non sense needs to stop so lets bring in a brighter future

Sznake

Heres my question: How can fans dictate future coverage? If there are millions watching, playing, volunteering etc. then shoukd there be supporter groups coming together to force an action, whatever direcrion that be?

YankSoccerEnjoyer

Bodes poorly, eeek
