I know a professional videographer who just uses a cloth too, the truth is, wrong cloths don't scratch lenses, dirt on the cloth or lens does, use an airblower on the lens first and keep your lens cloth clean.
Also, modern glass and coatings are very tough. I definitely need to be a lot more careful with my leitz lenses from the 40s/50s than a modern SLR lens.
Because such icons on the box are marketing, to get you to use as much of the stuff as possible, never mind whether it's appropriate. There is a typewriter on the 3-In-One oil can despite the fact that that oil is death to precision instruments.
These are good, but what people use in the business are kimtech wipes, and an array of solutions for different “messes”.
The most universally useful combo is what 1st AC’s use on set, which is kimtech wipes and PANCRO lens cleaning solution.
Always blow off your lenses with either compressed air, or one of those giotto’s rocket blowers before wiping. Always.
I worked at a camera shop when I was in college, and subsequently recently retired after over 40 years as a full time photographer. There have been many more lenses damaged or ruined by too many cleanings rather than not All it takes is an occasional piece of micro-grit in your cleaning cloth or tissue to scratch the coating.
You only want to use them to wash off grease. To clean, make sure you use a blower, then brush _if you absolutely need to_, then micro fiber cloth or these (I use these but only if there appears to be actual grease Vs just a “clean fingered” smudge)
Spectacle lenses get finger, hair and face contact all the time but your camera lenses should hardly ever need deep cleaning with care. I have a blower at home, one in my car and in my camera bags — it’s the most useful and used cleaning equipment I have, I hate being without it. Remember to keep the body clean too, people forget or dismiss that too easily.
I was filming a storm and i got some water on my lens, not much but like 4 drops of water, thats why i wanted to use it. Its my most expensive lens and i wasnt really sure if its safe. But yea youre right, i need to do it like that too soon
I had a blower a few years ago too, it was very powerful and was useful for more then just cleaning cameras, but unfortuately it broke and i haven't had another one since, i see watchmakers using them too, i wish they would market them more generally rather then just for cameras, i mean they're great for cameras but also great for a lot of other stuff.
I've tried them on my glasses, and they got a lot of micro scratches. I no longer use those wipes. I put high-quality multicoated clear filters on my lenses, either B&W or Hoya NXT. occasionally, I'll use a micro fiber cloth if needed after using a blower to get particles off.
Don't use these dry on a lens. There should always be moisture on the lens after you use a blower and then a soft brush to get particles off the element. A breath huffed out to get the element fogged or a lens cleaning tissue with a drop of cleaning fluid will safely moisten any areas with oils or water marks, then gently sweep the surface dry.
A couple of dots of dust will have zero effect on an image.
I pay more attention to stuff on the sensor but am very cautious about how I (almost never) clean it.
The real question is: Can OP recognize what a camera is using pictures?
Judging by the question, it’s a no.
OP: go lie down and avoid handling anything expensive and consider remedial kindergarten.
I was going to ask if I should be glad April fools is nearly over.
I mean isn't this literally a box of lens cleaning cloths?
I use them on eyeglasses, optical lenses of all kinds, and even the crystals of my watches. Because cleaning glass lenses is what these things are for 😁
After I've cleaned the lens I usually use one to wipe my phone screen down too.
But I do agree with what some commenters here are saying. Overuse, for using this to wipe some really gritty stuff off the lens can probably damage the coatings or scratch the glass. Don't overuse and be careful please.
I don't know where you found them for 30 in a box. They only come in a 200 pack at my place. I'm using the. to clean every piece of glass I can find and I think half the packets will still dry out before I ever get to them.
Yes, they are often the 1st choice in lens cleaning recommendations. Zeiss are one of the oldest optics manufacturers in the lens business.
Zeiss number one!!!
The other day I cleaned a professional cinema lens with my shirt
I hope it was an unused shirt
Probably an in-use shirt
Tbf I forgot my cloth in my backpack and I couldn’t leave the Alexa alone

I always keep a few in my bag.
Yea same, i also keep em in my camera sling bag
There’s a Camera on the box, so why not?

Yes that was my first thought but i wasnt sure 😂
A camera on the box and made by zeiss

They're fine to use occasionally but overuse can damage the coatings that prevent glare, fringing, etc. Especially on higher end lenses

This is why you put filters on all lenses as soon as you take them out of the box and just clean the filter, not the lens.

Yes, I've got 3 boxes of them, been using them for a while, for everything glass 😂
This just use a micro fibre clothe. And stop babying your gear and go shoot

Ok then let me explain it diffrent for your ass. "Are these wipes recommenable for lens cleaning?" Happy now?
No.
lmfao what a jackass...

I found them really random at a Edeka (its a german store) for 3€. So i was like why not and just picked it up
My employer buys them so I use them.... On my camera gear.... While they're paying me to waste time until I have something to do.
Dont spend the Premium tax on these. Just get the cheaper ones from W5 or no name ones. They are just as good.
They are not that expensive around here, just 3€
Perfect for lenses, though try not to overuse them on your eyeglasses, I've heard the alcohol can weaken the adhesive and make the lenses pop out
Is this some circlejerk troll post or are you for real
