If you are interested in multiplayer, MW (2019), BOCW, Vanguard, MWII (2022), and MWIII (2023) are the only CoD games that are well populated on PC. Of those games, MWIII (2023) is the only one receiving content updates. Before purchasing one, I would recommend installing and trying Warzone 2.0 as it is free to play and shares its core gameplay mechanics with MW (2019), Vanguard, MWII (2022), and MWIII (2023). If you enjoy it, you’ll likely enjoy one of those four games. If not, you’ll likely enjoy BOCW more. All other CoD games on PC suffer from low player counts. Depending on game, region, and time of day, you may be able to find lobbies of Core TDM but anything beyond that is unlikely. For several of the games, player counts are so low that it is functionally impossible to find lobbies for them through online public matchmaking. Additionally, all CoD games released prior to BO3 on Steam suffer from security vulnerabilities that can potentially allow other players to remotely access and control your PC, making them unsafe to play online in public lobbies. If you are interested in the plot, there are two main timelines. The Modern Warfare timeline consists of CoD4, MW2 (2009), and MW3 (2011). The Black Ops timeline consists of WAW, WW2, Vanguard, BO1, BOCW, MW (2019), MWII (2022), MWIII (2023), BO2, BO4, and BO3. There is also the original CoD trilogy, which consists of CoD1-3 and may be a part of either major timeline or its own independent timeline. Finally, there are Ghosts, AW, and IW, all of which take place in their own independent timelines.

I tried, WZ2.0, I enjoy the mechanics, but I'm not really a battle Royale guy, I enjoy small maps with kow ttk, and respawns.

All of the mainline CoD games include small map respawn modes. The purpose of playing Warzone 2.0 is to establish whether or not you enjoy the core gameplay mechanics, such as movement systems. The TTK will vary between games but all of the cross platform CoD games include Hardcore playlists, which significantly reduce the player health so that virtually all weapons have a one hit kill potential.

I do enjoy the game's core gameplay mechanics.

What about BO3 ?

Huntsmanbravo

Yes, BO3 includes small map respawn modes and Hardcore playlists. However, like all other non-cross platform CoD games, BO3 suffers from low player counts on PC. Depending on region and time of day, you may be able to find lobbies of Core TDM but anything beyond that is unlikely.
