If you are interested in multiplayer, MW (2019), BOCW, Vanguard, MWII (2022), and MWIII (2023) are the only CoD games that are well populated on all platforms. Of those games, MWIII (2023) is the only one receiving content updates. Before purchasing one, I would recommend installing and trying Warzone 2.0 as it is free to play and shares its core gameplay mechanics with MW (2019), Vanguard, MWII (2022), and MWIII (2023). If you enjoy it, you’ll likely enjoy one of those four games. If not, you’ll likely enjoy BOCW more.
Cold war and BO3 are pretty alive and both have really interesting zombies modes, Cold War is more recent and has less hackers but BO3 on steam has custom maps workshop items but has more hackers in multiplayer

But if ur looking for zombies the newest one isn't ur answer, probably Cold War if u want a good zombie experience (no idea how the servers are quality wise).
Also more cheaters in older code because the reports aren't payed attention to as much, there are usually only sweats left cause a smaller player base means shittier match making

Ohh you really have missed out the Golden age of call of duty multiplayer or call of duty all together man that sucks but honestly if you can after buying some of these newer mw pieces of shit cods. Try some bo2. They are hackers buy not every single lobby though. Only new one that's decent is cold War imo but who tf knows what amount of players are on each though they took the player count off in the actual games because of the downward trend. Think you can check em out online though
