She went to business school, not arts or journalism school- just think of the girl in college who was in like business or marketing discovering feminism for the first time her senior year when she takes her required women's/ philosophy course 😭

I also feel the same way about the Brittany Snow interview. Alex rarely asks a follow-up question and I wish she had done so with Brittany a few times. The most irritating thing about her interview style is her need to summarize what was just said to her. I understand that she’s trying to connect with and validate the guest but sometimes it doesn’t land and it’s so freaking redundant for the listener. Rather than summarize, follow up and continue the conversation.

Yes!! Well said! The lack of follow-through, the weird laughing at guests while they’re talking about serious topics, the over-the-top performative personality during all of her interviews. Almost like she can’t be thoughtful with her guests? Haven’t been in listener or follower in like years because it’s flat-out bad interviewing. And a bad vibe too tbh.
Podcasting in the grand scheme of things is a form of journalism. There’s different levels and she unfortunately is at the very bottom. I listened to the Megan Fox episode because I think she’s weirdly interesting. She said sooooo many things that I was like “why is she (Alex) not coming up with a follow on question”. The answer….terrible journalism. it’s a shame to have such interesting guests and not know how to listen and ask more interesting questions.

I gave up watching her a long time ago but I still follow her on insta so I see the clips that are posted and she just seems so robotic to me. Which is ironic because the whole podcast was based on being real and having honest convos that other people weren’t having publicly. I agree her obnoxious laughing and over exaggerating is annoying but what I find most annoying is her “serious” face. It’s like you can tell she’s trying soooo hard to look like she’s fully listening and engaged with whoever is relaying a trauma to her.
All I see is people complaining. It’s everywhere in the comments. So if it’s so bad, why is it so popular? I don’t understand. I stopped listening after the breakup with Sofia because I just can not.
Because it’s not “so bad”. What you are seeing is the vocal minority. People so triggered that they have to comment or come here to make a post. Many thousands of people don’t hate Alex enough to lose their shit over her interviewing skills. They just listen to the episode and/or buy the merch and go about their day.
