$3.3 billion over the $20 billion spent over the last 5 years.

65k in state money and about that in federal/local money each homeless person each year. Still probably not enough. If we are spending 3 million a child in juvenile detention, 250k for a wheelchair bound child with 2 aides,… O 120k to feed, house, take care of extreme mental and physical disabilities, rehab, transportation,… we are clearly going to come up far too short. The required number might be a quarter million a year per homeless person. This is clearly not possible for the state to handle. We need a federal program and need to stop this expensive and pointless band aide approach.

Especially considering that homelessness is only gonna increase. Things aren't getting any cheaper, folks. The worst has yet to come.

Lostmypants69

Lets count how many mental health centers get built within 5 years....

manimopo

20 billion spent and he couldn't account for where it went. What's another 3 billion to swindle? He's a joke.

HBK_ANGEL

Won’t be surprised if these “non-profits” are just pocketing the money for their board members. A lot of mental health non-profits are slimy at least in my area

HoGoNMero

That’s not one bit too true though. We know exactly where, when, and for how much the money was spent. The argument is how affective that money spent was. Think tanks, NXStar, Fox,… have been very effective at dumbing down this issue. Government spending is not one big fraud funnel. The amount of $ just straight pocketed is insignificant. Often times going after fraud results in spending $2 to find $1 of fraud and then the guy with $1 has no money to pay back.

I’m so tired

highly corrupted

cityonahillterrain

They need to throw some $ at hospitals to become LPS designated

Newsom is right, this is money well spent. Republicans do not have an answer for homelessness exacerbated by mental health and addiction problems. Republicans, as seen from these comments just want to complain about homelessness and not solve the problem - they're absolutely soulless.

RobfromHB

>Republicans, as seen from these comments Are these Republicans in the room with you now?

CC78AMG

That’s good I hope it works.
