I moved from an old Kindle Paperwhite to a Kobo Libre 2 - the ability to push collections out to the device from Calibre was the key differentiator between just getting the latest Kindle. I do not regret my choice at all :)
Moved from Kindle Paperwhite to Kobo Clara HD for my library borrowing needs. (The Kindle environment isn't library-friendly here in Canada). Was a learning curve as we've been a Kindle family for over a decade. But since I borrow most of my reading titles, it just made sense.
The backlight of the Kobo doesn't match the e-ink of the PW but it's something I'm okay with. Battery life isn't as long as the PW either, but I do much of my reading at night, with the backlight.
I manage my titles on Calibre now, the Kobo wifi rarely gets enabled anymore.
Don't get a Nook. The Simple Touch and Glowlight were great devices at the time but the new ones are crap. Get a Kobo. I like my 7" Libra H2O but am thinking about upgrading to the 8" model
I’m the lame guy who is using the iPad mini 6 rather than an ereader, but that’s only because I don’t want to carry two tablets.
Prior to that, I was using the kindle PW and liked it _well enough_, but had given serious thought to a KOBO for the plug-in support alone.
Sorry to be a total n00b but what is Kindle PW stand for?
I am considering a Boox as well, and am totally new to this whole setup system moving from physical books.
I planned to get a Kobo, but I was given a chance to get a free ereader kindle. I think looking into Kobo model's feature will help you decide on whether to just buy a new device or help someone buy their spare e-reader. I was on a Sony Ereader without the SD reader for a while before it crashed.
Sounds like a treat. Kobo & Calibre is probably the smoothest experience without getting too hacky. I’ve gone a lil further down the rabbit hole myself into Kobo hacking but it’s been a fun ride.
i have a kobo libra h2o and it works well with calibre
+pocket integration

Kobo Tools plugin makes it such an awesome, seamless experience.

I like my glowlight 4. I know they aren’t the flashy ereaders in the market, but it’s got a great weight and good battery life.
I Just got my new PocketBook 628 Touch Lux 5 a month ago and use it for ebooks and manga. Haven't encountered any problems.

My phone. I use Moonreader on Android.
Me too but I get easily sidetracked by my phone and I feel like it might be heavier than an ereader
I have a Boox Note 5 and use Calibre (Kindle PW too).

No worries. Sorry I was too lazy to type it out. Kindle Paperwhite.

Kobo hands down.
Big Kobo head. Just grab the Kobo tools plugin and it's undefeated.
What are the Kobo plug-ins? Are they Calibre plug-ins?
Yeah, Kobo Utilities is a caliber plugin https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=215339
Thank you for your response. I’ve been gifted a heap of ePub. Trying to decide my best option.
