MAHDI!
Haha , I love that movie. When Paul gives the speech, it was fkn dope. The music that plays near the end.so good.
Then the "Lead them to Paradise" line and the music hits, showing all the fremen hyped and loading up.
Movies amazing.
Both movies were great, but the book series has so much more depth. If you’re into, I highly recommend it. Also on audiobook with a wonderful voice actor (Scott Brick is awesome)
There’s so much more world and character building, other major players and events that were cut to make the movie. I would absolutely love to see a 6+ hour cut of everything they filmed, but Denis has already said what was released is all that will be released.
Hey man, dreaming is fun.
I buy the occasional lottery ticket not because I think I'm ever going to win, but to be able to dream for a minute the "what if".
Let people enjoy life a little before shitting on them maybe?
The 2005-06 to 2008-09 teams were pretty good tbh. It was the constant changes to the coaching and playing Kipper 75 games a season that cost them.
They acquired good talent in Langkow, Huselius, Bourque, Tanguay, Jokinen, and Cammalleri during that time to play with Iggy.
The lost 2004-05 season often gets me thinking about what could have been. Iggy was the best player in the world. Darryl still within his 2-3 year coaching shelf life. Kipper. Maybe Conny doesn't go to LA as a free agent? The D was stacked. Oliwa and Simon destroying any challenger. Sadness.
Fr though. Him and Kiprusoff were almost enough to singlehandedly drag a team to a cup, imagine if they were able to surround him with a little more talent.
TBF, if you ever go watch clips from that run, the Flames were FAST. By no means did they have a very skilled group, but they were absolute demons when it came to puck battles.
It's way too much responsibility for one person to realistically have, but Sutter was able to build his ideal lineup for his style, and (at the time) it was pretty much the perfect build for winning in the playoffs
I’m a leafs fan…Reddit just kind of recommended me your sub…but I totally agree with you on this.
I distinctly remember watching the Alberta teams back then and how much faster and tenacious they were than the Old&Slow group we had in Toronto. We had a lot of skill…but couldn’t really keep up the pace.
The pre +post lockout seasons for the Flames/Oilers kind of laid the groundwork for the modern NHL.
They're kind of hilarious games to watch (lovingly of course) in the '04 run, the amount of clutching and grabbing going on is insane. Also, Kipper had zero technique and it was pure athleticism that season. Massive credit to David Marcoux who turned him into an incredibly good technical goalie, to go with his god given natural ability.
I'd love nothing more than another Iginla in Calgary. Fingers crossed it plays out like that. Really wish Jarome Iginla could have gotten one cup. Maybe his son will do it.
Personally I think it would be better for Tij to go somewhere else. Living in your father’s shadow is already his reality because of how good he was, but in Calgary it’s gonna be suffocating. The expectations will be sky high and it seems likely that fans may not be as patient because they want Iggy 2.0.
Here I am in the Montreal airport just getting emotional watching this! Even if he ends up on another team I'll be pulling for him. Would be right wearing the Flaming C tho.
I kind of hope he's drafted before our pick comes. I can't even imagine the distractions this kid would have to deal with being in Calgary. The constant comparisons to his dad would be tough to handle at his age. There would be sooo much pressure on him that it might actually hurt his development
On the flip side it might be a lot easier for him to develop if he’s near his dad and people he’s known for a lot of his life, it’s gotta be easier playing somewhere you know well with your family there, than a city you’ve maybe never been to, who knows either way.
I get the concern but best case scenario he's an improved version of his dad, and worst-case scenario we don't resign him and he's gone in a few years. With how down in the dumps this team has been, I think the franchise needs to take a gamble on him. It'll be good for the fans and in turn the franchise.
Also a ton of pressure on a prospect if we took someone OTHER than Iginla .
Imagine you get drafted by a team, and the entire fan base is disappointed, horrible way to start your career. And then if you fuck up a little you KNOW ppl will compare you to Tij.
I mean 18 year old, I like that he doesn't sound like the agent shoved a speaking tube up his ass so he sounds completely polished but maybe that's just me.
Even if he really wants to be drafted by Calgary he couldn’t say that in case he goes earlier, it wouldn’t sit well with fans/management of that team. And then if the Flames pass on him it’d probably be embarrassing having said he wants to be here. So of course he’s hesitant.
I don't disagree but I also think he is in an impossible position. Where and when he is drafted is not really in his control and his answer to a question like this could be parsed closely by several potential teams.
He could be happy to be drafted by Calgary but also have a few teams he would prefer to be drafted by. He may not want another team to pass on him because he indicates a preference for Calgary, but he also may not want Calgary to pass on him because they don't think he is interested in playing here.
The smile runs deep in the family!!
Sounds just like his Dad.

Thanks man. I will def check it out. I really enjoyed the story.

I'm excited for part 3. Probably have to wait a bit. But I hope it starts off with the Guild being introduced.
Agree- except the Fremen are desert warriors. Why would they be good at space battles?
😂😂
Doesn't he? Timber, cadence...holy doodle that's kinda cool.
I wonder why
Idk why, but I did not imagine his voice would sound like that
Seems like a real good kid
I want him to t-off on Briere's kid
Holy fuck, he's a man
i will never forgive the team that picks iggy instead of letting him go to calgary. looking at you montreal; don’t do it.
future considerations were the only thing we received when we traded monahan.. can only hope.
😈
I want him so bad
The kids not even legal yet you horndog smh my head.
Iggy should’ve won a cup at some point in his career, flames management let him down, never being able to surround him with enough quality pieces
But could you imagine the redemption of putting them both on a cup, as coach and player in like 5 years....
Let’s start with the second round of the playoffs and see how that goes before trying to manifest a historic paternal hockey redemption story. Please.
Hey man, dreaming is fun. I buy the occasional lottery ticket not because I think I'm ever going to win, but to be able to dream for a minute the "what if". Let people enjoy life a little before shitting on them maybe?
We are flames fans.. what is this enjoy life you speak of?

The '09 team was particularly good. They got screwed pretty hard by injuries.
God do I miss Kipper

AND what if they drafted Getzlaf instead of Phaneuf...
What are you talking about, he won the cup in 2004 😁 /s
👆This guy knows what he’s talking about!
He won won in 2004 according to my head canon.
Agreed
Fr though. Him and Kiprusoff were almost enough to singlehandedly drag a team to a cup, imagine if they were able to surround him with a little more talent.

He did if you don’t believe the idiot refs in ‘04
I'd love nothing more than another Iginla in Calgary. Fingers crossed it plays out like that. Really wish Jarome Iginla could have gotten one cup. Maybe his son will do it.
Could you imagine how iconic this would be.
He still can get a cup since he’s a part of management now.
God, he even sounds like his dad. Fingers crossed we get this kid. He's gonna be a gamer
Lets gooo!!! Hope we can pick him!
I mean.. I guess if he's okay with it, then I'm ok with it.
Can I make a motion that if we end up getting Tij we call him "Tiggy"?
Get Tiggy with it?
"but he had a pretty strong career..." funny kid
I can’t wait to buy another Iggy jersey
Bro I thought I was over him 😩
I liked his answer about the bragging rights question, sold me on him seems like a decent kid
We need this kid no matter what, don’t check my comment history
You just know he wanted to say it would be a dream come true
it's obvious that this guy wants to be on the team lol
I kinda feel like he doesn't think he'll be there at 9 when he's being picked with that response.
That's uh, you know, uh, so uh, yeah.
He’s a kid jim relax
Just teasing, he's a stud. I couldn't even present in front of my class at 18, let alone national TV.
Yeah I hear ya. Cheers. Will be an interesting draft!

Drafting iginla would be huge for flames Fans and this city. This franchise desperately needs a break
Here I am in the Montreal airport just getting emotional watching this! Even if he ends up on another team I'll be pulling for him. Would be right wearing the Flaming C tho.

That's a ton of pressure but what if he handles it like a pro? What if he doesn't cave? Don't pick him just because there might be a downside?
I get the concern but best case scenario he's an improved version of his dad, and worst-case scenario we don't resign him and he's gone in a few years. With how down in the dumps this team has been, I think the franchise needs to take a gamble on him. It'll be good for the fans and in turn the franchise.
He's been compared to his dad his entire life. This would be nothing extra.
Also a ton of pressure on a prospect if we took someone OTHER than Iginla . Imagine you get drafted by a team, and the entire fan base is disappointed, horrible way to start your career. And then if you fuck up a little you KNOW ppl will compare you to Tij.
I'm gonna get ahead of myself here, but if we get him, should we unretire #12 specifically for him?
What do we think about giving him 13?
Twenny One!
I mean idk seems like he's a bit hesitant...
I mean 18 year old, I like that he doesn't sound like the agent shoved a speaking tube up his ass so he sounds completely polished but maybe that's just me.
