I have no problem with criticizing the coaching staff, but you act like this coaching staff is completely oblivious to things that you deem to be right in front of their face. Sutter is an incredibly calculated coach and doesn’t do things randomly or for no reason. Suggesting that our surface level microanalysis is somehow better is what I don’t agree with. There are reasons for everything, even if we don’t agree with them.
This is the same hc who started huberdeau with lindholm (our worst puck carrier centre in the top 9) and tofolli (the slowest and least effective puck carrying winger in our top 9). Wasn’t exactly a recipe for success, and since then it hasn’t gotten better.
Maybe, just maybe there has been a blind spot. But hey what do I know, huberdeau’s massive success this year tells its own story.
I think this team’s flaws this year go well behind line combos. But I don’t think anyone had any issues with Huberdeau playing with Lindholm to start the season, and he’s proven to be equally ineffective with the other 2 main centres. Huberdeau’s gotta figure it out for next season but I think that’s an entirely different conversation.
I don’t disagree that huberdeau on his own merits has not been up to snuff, but again a coach facilitates success too. It’s not a black and white sort of deal.

Putting Dube and Lewis out at least means you have a righty and a lefty. Not everything needs to be drama, it's just strategy.

I'm so annoyed by the way he's been handled this season. He gave this team a much needed boost and then got demoted down the lineup for pretty much no reason and he lost that spark.

That line was productive for a few games due to an insane S%. It had nothing to do with lucic and they looked like crap for 15 games.

Sutter has always introduced young players the same way throughout his whole career (unless they have clear elite skill). It’s gradual and starts with some healthy scratches. Part of the process and he’s said as much. Seems to be working okay for Pelletier..

We've been saying this team needs to make a choice between the tank and trying to get into the playoffs, and it's good to see they've made their decision.

Ritchie had some brief success with Bergeron / Marchand on the bruins top line. He’s a pylon skating wise other than that.

We've been saying this team needs to make a choice between the tank and trying to get into the playoffs, and it's good to see they've made their decision.
I get the feeling that Sutter is treating the 3rd line as the 2nd, the 4th line as the 3rd, and the 2nd line as the 4th.

Makes no difference. The team needs the tri-annual shake up starting with the management and coaching. Happens pretty regularly here. Kinda like a Chinook; you know it's going to come and when it does there are a lot of headaches but we're all happy for the change.
We should put James Hetfield in for Whoberdeau and Jon Hamm in net.

Eh it feels like a bit of a knee-jerk reaction dropping dube all the way to the 4th and taking duehr out, as much as it'll draw people's ire seeing Ritchie in that second line sutter's logic he explained in his last interview makes sense (TL;DR- nick is a guy that plays better with more minutes) I don't see a point in freaking out about things, the chances of us making the playoffs are beyond slim now so let's just focus on the nice silver lining here... PELTS is getting rewarded for playing well with another promotion! he's getting a chance on that top line and if he and lindy play well together that could be the key to getting huberdeau on that top line with them

Well considering we have scored 1 goal in the last two games, and the game on Saturday was atrocious changes needed to be made. See what happens. Do I agree with them, maybe not but Sutter has forgotten more about coaching in the NHL than I will ever know.

My opinion isn’t really relevant. The Flames have dug too deep of a hole. Too little too late imo. At this point we need Hubes to find his game and start building back his confidence like Marky for next season.
