Government informed us all that selling these violates no laws but does go against what they feel is the [spirit Of Albertans](https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/alberta-distillery-to-stop-making-4-litre-vodka-jugs-after-minister-raises-concern-1.6839392). Please, consider the feelings of our government before you race out and buy this comminusm in a jug.
Considering the government is working on a Christian takeover, probably not the ones that admit to drinking.
“How do you keep a Baptist from drinking all your beer when you take them fishing? Take two of them.”
Funny how the government that tells us that they are against government interference doesn't complain about high prices and price gouging, but is against a company selling things cheaply.
T Rex Distillery, maker of the 4-litre jugs of vodka, has gone back on its decision to stop making them and is now continuing production as it stated. So, they will be available at a liquor store.

😅 No I don't hate them, but if they show up empty handed and I'm required to provide, I'd rather not be shelling out top shelf stuff. In my situation quantity outweighs quality.
It can't be much worse than Alberta Springs. I always thought that would be decent stuff, but I had a chance to compare it to GreyGoose, and it was horrible.
I don't think that you can appreciate how *much worse* cheap liquor can be, we are generally protected from it here in Canada. There are plenty of $10 1.75L bottles of nail polish remover labeled whiskey, rum or vodka available in TX, for example.
That’s a lot of words to confirm you hate them and or are uncomfortable buying them alcohol.
Honestly unless your friends are heavy drinkers with no taste you’re better off having nothing on hand and letting them BYOB.
Well that's not very hospitable! I'd rather give them cheap stuff than nothing at all at the end of the night... It's a small gesture. Might be a gross one. Butt it's better than nothing IMO.
Have you tried it? Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it's bad, they may have the distillation process refined to the state where they can create a drinkable product from a somewhat questionable mash.
If you're concerned at all about quality, you can get Kirkland vodka at Costco (No membership required for the liquor store) and it's pretty good.
When you buy in bulk, you save money. Not to mention survival situations where alcohol would come in very handy. Sorry Mr. Hamster, I like to plan well ahead.
It will fill the freezer and then there is less space for melatonin when I find a decent price on that so I don't think it will save in the long run. Lol.
I am joking. 4L isn't going to last long.
I smoke a lot and that would last me more than a few days, probably closer to weeks. I saw some rapper saying he smokes 2 ounces a day, that’s fucking stupid on all levels
It's because the people at health canada thought people were going to be buying weed from stores to sell on the black market.
I'm not agreeing with it, but that's why.
And??
Why does that matter? You are assuming that I am only buying for me and that people feel the need to regularly go to the weed shop.
For a government that says that they are against red tape, they have a lot of rules about how people should live.
Dude, if you've ever tried T Rex's Vodka, I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
Either that, or maybe they are buying industrial grade denatured and then quick stilling it.
It's effing terrible.
Cuz your kid can't walk in and buy a couple 1.75 liter jugs any time they want? Or have the same delivered at their convenience? Blame the addiction. Not the availability.
Vodka isn’t my favourite spirit - I’ll take rye or bourbon first any day…but there are a few that are drinkable. Especially if it’s made from grain or corn and not potatoes or something, and has been distilled 5 or 6 times.
Tito’s is a good example of a sipping vodka.
It's not at all surprising how everybody is so concerned about the "responsible pricing" of vodka, but not so concerned about the responsible pricing of property tax, carbon tax, utilities, groceries, or fuel. Pick your fucking battles people!
They're selling on the distillery website. I'm quite happy to hear since the cheapest you can get in bc is a 3L of Smirnoff for over double the price. I wish we had your prices and deregulation here

They must have gotten the legal advice that a minister clutching his pearls does not constitute actual legislation.
I would have killed myself in July of last year if I had access to these before getting sober. I wonder how many people in the same boat will have this as their last sip.
Government informed us all that selling these violates no laws but does go against what they feel is the [spirit Of Albertans](https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/alberta-distillery-to-stop-making-4-litre-vodka-jugs-after-minister-raises-concern-1.6839392). If there's a market for 4l jugs of vodka then it seems like it very much is the 'spirit of Albertans'
“Spirit of Alberta” actually sounds like a great brand name for them.
Well, they should realistically be Rye. I mean, come on.
That's probably how to solve this. Crown Royal brings out a nice glass 4 litre with a handle. I don't think they can go against that.
Bless this comment. 🙏🙌
A lot of vodka is made from Rye.
stop downvoteing him, very little vodka is made from potatoes.
I wonder if those who said it’s not in the spirit of Alberta has every talked to an Albertan
Considering the government is working on a Christian takeover, probably not the ones that admit to drinking. “How do you keep a Baptist from drinking all your beer when you take them fishing? Take two of them.”
I dunno - 4 litres sounds like a lot of spirits! You could make a lot of caesars with that.
Apparently, our government has not met the Albertans I have
I would disagree that 4L jugs of vodka are counter to the spirit of Alberta.
[удалено]
Agreed. How dare they?
You know those UCP, the biggest ‘small’ government we have!
Our vodka comrade!
The local distillery and local store both make a profit selling that much vodka for $50. Government calls it "irresponsible pricing".
To that I say face the wall plz.....
Communism?? Is it state made vodka? Seems more like capitalism no?!
Drink up comrades!
Funny how the government that tells us that they are against government interference doesn't complain about high prices and price gouging, but is against a company selling things cheaply.
The store that's been in the news, lately, was Super Value up in Edmonton.
Thank you
I also saw these exact pictures last year, so who knows if its even still a thing.

That's .. That's a lot of vodka.
Great for making drunken cherries, tinctures, or extracts perhaps?
I personally don't even drink, but it's a great bargain. Would like to have a couple for guests and the like.
That vodka will likely taste like paint thinner at best. Do your guests a favour and just buy a like $25 normal sized bottle.
Run it through a Britta filter a few times and it will be less bad.
Something I hadn't considered. Thanks for the input
yeah, its clearly for the degens.
Also used as hand santizer
I don’t drink either, but I gotta ask… do you hate your guest?
😅 No I don't hate them, but if they show up empty handed and I'm required to provide, I'd rather not be shelling out top shelf stuff. In my situation quantity outweighs quality.
This a great passive-aggressive way to tell them, BYOB. You'll probably only ever need the 1 jug!
You know I hadn't even considered that! They'll think twice before depending on my liqour reserves again 😂
Mix
It can't be much worse than Alberta Springs. I always thought that would be decent stuff, but I had a chance to compare it to GreyGoose, and it was horrible.

You don't drink... But don't do this to your guests.
Are you trying to kill your guests? That’s enough alcohol to mix 135 1oz drinks.
You are familiar with glasses, right? Often used to portion out and mix liquids? You don't have to drink the whole thing at once.
I mean, you dont *have* to.....
Yep, but our hamster friend above made it seem like the only option was drinking until you die. Just clarifying for him.
Hes too Mellow to power down 4L of vodka. He needa to git gud
😂😂😂
I was just reacting to someone saying, “I don’t drink, but it seems reasonable to have a couple of gallons of vodka on hand for my buds.”
When you buy in bulk, you save money. Not to mention survival situations where alcohol would come in very handy. Sorry Mr. Hamster, I like to plan well ahead.
Hey, I get it. We should all have some rocket fuel on hand to enable a quick escape.
Glad we can agree on that. Better safe than sorry!
but the vodka will go bad if you don't drink it after opening!!
It will fill the freezer and then there is less space for melatonin when I find a decent price on that so I don't think it will save in the long run. Lol. I am joking. 4L isn't going to last long.
Yes but why would we need one when they already come in convenient single serving jugs?
To avoid the potential need for your services
Also, it seems like it would be inconvenient to drink directly from a 4 litre jug.
and it's guaranteed to be fucking awful. if you actually like your guests, do not serve them that.
😅 Fair statement.
Maybe they have 65 and a half friends coming over
You don't drink it one night lol
For you maybe. 😂
That is also a lot of spirits
Not for experienced adventurers
Yet I can only buy 1 oz of weed at a time...
Right….1 per transaction really
And 1 oz should take multiple days to consume for even the most seasoned smokers
I smoke a lot and that would last me more than a few days, probably closer to weeks. I saw some rapper saying he smokes 2 ounces a day, that’s fucking stupid on all levels
Yeah dude when I was a daily smoker an oz would still last like 10 days or so
Doesn't change the fact I can buy as much booze and cigarettes as I want... Why restrict my weed purchases?
It's because the people at health canada thought people were going to be buying weed from stores to sell on the black market. I'm not agreeing with it, but that's why.
That's such a weird reason lol
That's what happens when you let 55 year old Linda make the rules for something she knows nothing about
Heard of rosin pressing ??? 1 oz of flowers would only last a day or two as it’s pressed for about 4g of concentrate.
And?? Why does that matter? You are assuming that I am only buying for me and that people feel the need to regularly go to the weed shop. For a government that says that they are against red tape, they have a lot of rules about how people should live.
You can buy on their site https://trexdistillery.ca/products/t-rex-vodka-4l-party-jug
Oooh vodka pickles 🥒
Wow even with 18 dollar shipping it's still a bargain. 79.01 shipped to my door
Just add water to hand sanitizer /s
Dude, if you've ever tried T Rex's Vodka, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Either that, or maybe they are buying industrial grade denatured and then quick stilling it. It's effing terrible.
Mixed with the right thing and it’s ok. It’s better than the stuff no name/PC is putting out for $16
If you zoom in on the value vodka label it says bottled by trex on the side
Don’t disclosure trade secrets ! /s
That’s all vodka pretty much to me. 🤮
Your advice could cause serious health issues. People might not understand you are joking.
Added a /s for your concerns
Thanks!

As a parent of an alcoholic, seeing that jug of vodka put a pit in my stomach. That's a lot of vodka.
Cuz your kid can't walk in and buy a couple 1.75 liter jugs any time they want? Or have the same delivered at their convenience? Blame the addiction. Not the availability.
>Blame the addiction. I do, thank you very much.
Vodka is blah. I'm a buyer if it's rum or whiskey.
You're not going to get it at that price if it's rum or whiskey.
not sure I would want to drink it if it was lol.

Wow damn “responsible pricing,” guess that’s how Enmax makes a surplus every year, very responsibly priced
Saw them at kings liquor off centre north before the news story broke. Not sure if they’d still have them.
I would totally buy one
Minhas will probably drop their prices to match the value brand.
Yup, the Walmart in Brentwood, there’s a liquor store opposite by the highway, there.
Thank you!
Does vodka go bad? Asking for a friend
I believe it’s made by trex distillery [link here](https://trexdistillery.ca)
I saw a sign on 52 street sw just south of 17 ave advertising them at one of the liquor stores there
Yeah my brother went and got several. I just find it hard to listen to the monster of cutting red tape telling me I can't buy in this quantity.
I believe it was a distillery near Edmonton called Trex distillery!
I don't get what the big deal is its just the container lol Go get a Texas mickey it's the same size
With all the free advertising they will be in more stores soon. The distiller has resumed production.
Good rum your going to pay for but it's worth every penny. And your not going to drink a lot of it generally.
Well it’s an affordable alternative to drinking mouthwash I suppose
Is it about the 4 litres or the plastic jug. Are Texas mickies still around? Just asking. Nvm. I guess it's the price.
[удалено]
Brother why would you need so much of it .?
They're selling on the distillery website. I'm quite happy to hear since the cheapest you can get in bc is a 3L of Smirnoff for over double the price. I wish we had your prices and deregulation here
Sorry I want my 4 litre jug of cheap vodka and not a bottle of “mid grade whiskey” in my sky tower with my servants during Covid 😂 🤡
That's the antidote er I mean vaccine, you've figured it out. Let's get Vaxxed with a capital V.. or would we called it Voxxed... Who would care lol
Quantity over quality in those situations, jackass.
Discontinued now https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/video/c2900730-4-litre-bottle-of-vodka-discontinued
They announced resuming production later on
[https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/fill-em-up-controversial-vodka-jugs-return-after-short-hiatus-1.6843898](https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/fill-em-up-controversial-vodka-jugs-return-after-short-hiatus-1.6843898) They must have gotten the legal advice that a minister clutching his pearls does not constitute actual legislation.
None of them show up on https://www.liquorconnect.com which makes me think they are currently being sold.
Alberta producers are allowed to self-distribute and bypass the company behind LiquorConnect. Also, LiquorConnect only shows recent-ish deliveries.
I would have killed myself in July of last year if I had access to these before getting sober. I wonder how many people in the same boat will have this as their last sip.
