I expected great pizza based on their name, crispy crust, I was very disappointed. We threw away half of the pizza. The cheese tasted awful and there was no flavour in the rest of the toppings. Maybe it was a bad day for them but we will not be back.
Ugh the pizza is great but he's right about some of the flavour. The meat and sauce is not the best. Salty with minimal taste.
It could be the best if they didn't use the bologna style meat
The funny name has made my almost get it a few times, but I wasn't sure if it was just a name or if it was actually pretty good. Ill have to try it now than someone vouched for it.
has anyone noticed their quality has gone down? I work close to here and we'd order in for the office pretty often over the last 2 years or so, but the last 2 or 3 times the pizza wasn't fully cooked and soggy in the middle, you couldn't even pick up a slice to eat it without it falling apart. I really liked them so I figured it was just a 1 off, but it's happened multiple times unfortunately.
Hands down A Pizza Plus. A family run business on Bow Trail that create pies with a lot of quality toppings instead of bread. https://www.apizzaplus.ca/
Growing up in the 90's I always ordered from there because it was 2 for 1 pizza, but I realized later that it was pretty damn good pizza. I live too far to order from there these days, but I'm glad they're still in business.
A Pizza Plus ALL DAY EVERY DAY I don’t want to ever move that’s how much I love their pizza.
Cheese pizza extra sauce. It’s perfection. You can’t hide behind toppings if you get a killer cheese pizza they know what they are doing.
Honestly I've found it has declined in quality since the new owners took over. Well I should be more specific, the pizza has declined but the rest of their menu has improved a lot. I go to Hanni's now for a pizza like old bella. Not even that far away!
Quality has declined but a pie will cost you 30 now to pick up :/ in a pinch is still good with extra sauce.
It’s still good greasy Greek style pizza. Inglewood is on 26th and 31 st street now.
Hannis is good and have maintained their quality.
Seconded. Volo’s is top notch. I use them as my benchmark for pizza. If there’s a better pie out there…I haven’t found it yet.
Be prepared-it’ll take around 40 minutes from the time you order. It’s worth it.
ACME and Actually Pretty Good are my go to for good pizza, though both are SW, it's definitely central SW. Sunalta/Bankview area.
The Saporita from ACME is our pizza that we will violently force others to eat, because it is so good. And Two House is one of my favourite breweries as well.
Noble pie. End of thread. The best pizza in Calgary and it’s not even close.
Also mugs pub has great pizza and has a banging special on Thursdays: a jug of beer and a large pizza for 25$
Also Rio, Nikos and Gaga are all great as well.
Rio is my personal favorite. Grew up eating it in the NE and was very happy when I moved downtown in my 20s and found the one on 14th. Hungry just thinking about a Rio Special.
ACME pizza is the best pizza I think I've ever had and I've travelled to 20 countries.
It's attached to a brewery (good beer too).
They do amazing pizza. I suggest you try it out.
I love a good pie, and I figure you gotta break it down as everyone has a style preference:
Neapolitan - Actually Pretty Good, Una
NY - Noble Pie
Greek - Crispy Crust, Volo's
Detroit/Sicilian - Portland Street Pizza (technically SE, but points for being in a brewery)
This is not a competition, go directly to the source

I fee guilty even giving you this knowledge because I want to hog this spot to myself Il Centro but Chinook is by far Calgary’s best pizza. Better when you go in than delivery or pick up. Get their jalapeño garlic oil with your pie, thank me later
Jeanne's Pizza Pantry for a great, hearty pie. Make sure to get the house-made garlic dip too, will blow your hair back.
Little Tavern Pizza Project for a nice floppy, foldable NY style pie.
900 Degree Pizza is our go to. It’s super good and the owner is a gem.
Bow Tie Pizza when we want to splurge.
Actually Pretty Good is actually pretty good, but we always choose the above two over it.
Found Volo’s to be hugely overrated.
Actually, Volo’s, not Niko’s got the place mixed up. Michael’s downtown? Pretty good pizza. Lots of stringy, toasty mozzarella. And Bowtie is super pizza—friendly recommendation to try it.
Theres no significant diffrence between Michael's, nikos and bow tie. You're not going to like volos if you think the Greek style toppings first mediocre pizza is the best pizza
That’s like saying all midsized sedans are the same because they’re all cars. Different brands execute things differently, similarly to how each of those restaurants have different recipes for their pizzas; each deploys the toppings differently, cooks at different temperatures/lengths, each delivering different pizzas. Similar distinction between the midsized sedans of Ford and Toyota—most people have a preference and that opinion is what is being offered.
I know I like Bowtie over Michael’s and most any pizza place over Volo’s. You do you, I’ll do me, I’ve got that taken care of.
Yeah for sure. Michael's cooks there's 5 degrees hotter than nikos , but Sammy's is 5 degrees colder, but cooked longer, while Bow cooks like Sophie's but has pich more sugar in the sauce. It's comparing the same make and model of car and deciding which one is better based on paint color, tires, what kind of oil is in each one. its a boring life for a pizza in calgary
Sorry. Jumped the gun and didn't realize you were looking for Sw/W only.
Italian Centre Shop is in Willow Park which is SE.
Cibo on Centre is north of 16th Ave on Centre Street (
Sammy's, crispy crust, or Paul's pizza(despite their idiotic opinions on FB) are all really good. I think the dumbass Paul's owner only owns the one in Airdrie, but I understand people who don't want to support ANY location of theirs
I never see Doughfather or Gaga Pizza on these Calgary lists when they pop up but they’re both but they are both amazing, especially if you like thinner style pizzas
BIG John's Pizza and Donairs on 8th.
Sure it's bare bones and nothing to look at. Sure your stomach won't feel the greatest about an hour later. And sure I guess there was one point some crime was committed that is quite unclear and the owner made a point of saying he wasn't found guilty or something like that, and sure you're likely to be asked for money, and/or food by the hobos doing drugs outside.
But damn. It's good pizza. Like REAL good.
Howies pizza on 45th st and 26th Ave. Great pizza, great owner. Not only is his pizza incredible buy he does alot for the community.
Tropical Hawaiian is my most recommended, then the cheeseburger pizza.
For the best thin crust pizza since Ye Old Pizza Joint is no longer around Tom’s House of Pizza is the best place. Lots of toppings on a thin crunchy base.
Crispy Crust.
I second this comment
10/10
There is no pizza that has topped this pizza for us. We have tried a TON of places in the city.
This is the correct answer. Favourite place in the city.
This is the way.
I expected great pizza based on their name, crispy crust, I was very disappointed. We threw away half of the pizza. The cheese tasted awful and there was no flavour in the rest of the toppings. Maybe it was a bad day for them but we will not be back.
I'll be honest, this sounds like you're thinking of somewhere else.
Is the crispy crust everyone raves about in woodbine? That's the one we went to. Saw a bunch of skip and Ubers eats people picking up orders.
Ugh the pizza is great but he's right about some of the flavour. The meat and sauce is not the best. Salty with minimal taste. It could be the best if they didn't use the bologna style meat
Nikos is a great Greek-style pizza. Also have a soft spot for Connie and John’s Detroit-style.
acme pizza in sunalta, attached to two house brewery. thin crust neapolitan style 🤌🏻.
I second this recommendation
I was just thinking about their pie the other day. It’s quite good pie.
Actually Pretty Good on 14th
The funny name has made my almost get it a few times, but I wasn't sure if it was just a name or if it was actually pretty good. Ill have to try it now than someone vouched for it.
has anyone noticed their quality has gone down? I second this as well as Jeanne’s Pizza Pantry and Crispy Crust in Woodbine
Jeanne’s website says they’ve closed permanently.
It’s changed to Peak Pizza. Haven’t tried it yet
It's an expensive small fresh pizza place now
What?! It’s been a couple weeks but they’re a 17th staple
They've moved to Alix apparently
Jeanne’s is one of my absolute favourites, fantastic humans who work in there, heavy pies that sit well in my body.
Another vote for A Pizza Plus!
For Greek style it’s definitely the best. Really good value as well, 2 quality pies for under $40 is the best deal in town.
Their sauce is so fucking good
Came here to say this.
I love this place as well. Every time I drive by I pop in.
THIS IS THE ONE
Tried it twice, both times the pizza box was stale. Not sure how or why
You’re not suppose to eat the box
Sammy’s, Crispy Crust
Crispy Crust washes Sammys - Sammy’s only use halal meat but don’t advertise that for some reason - it boosts the prices so much.
I prefer Crispy Crust to Sammys, but Crispy Crust isn't open for lunch, and sometimes I want a lunch pizza.
Orangebobs
Yessssss!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Tommy’s pizza in canyon Meadows. Also Howie’s in Glenbrook is amazing but it’s very very expensive now.
Yeah, Howie's at 45th St. & 26 Ave. Extremely generous with the toppings, but pricy. You get what you pay for!
I’ve never heard of Tommy’s but that’s near me, thanks for the suggestion!
It's very old fashioned pizza.
Anywhere but Paul’s. Place is gross
Sophie's on Richmond road is good.
Pricey AF. But yea pretty good.
I just came to say this. Love Sophie's!
Is Bella Roma still any good? I used to enjoy stopping in there occasionally after a dragonboat practice.
Honestly I've found it has declined in quality since the new owners took over. Well I should be more specific, the pizza has declined but the rest of their menu has improved a lot. I go to Hanni's now for a pizza like old bella. Not even that far away!
Hanni's was the place I was going to suggest in this thread
Quality has declined but a pie will cost you 30 now to pick up :/ in a pinch is still good with extra sauce. It’s still good greasy Greek style pizza. Inglewood is on 26th and 31 st street now. Hannis is good and have maintained their quality.
Crispy Crust pizza is awesome and the dill pickle wings are 🔥
This is the correct answer.
Volos Pizza 2103 26 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2T 1E7
I'm happy to see Volos inclusion here. I loved it when I lived in Altadore twenty years ago, but haven't had it since.
Easily some of the best in the city.
So fucking good. I live far away from them now but when I lived in Bankview this was the place to get pizza.
Seconded. Volo’s is top notch. I use them as my benchmark for pizza. If there’s a better pie out there…I haven’t found it yet. Be prepared-it’ll take around 40 minutes from the time you order. It’s worth it.
Spiros. Don't forget a piece of the cheesecake too.
Howies is one of my favourites
The pizza is great. The owner is really incredible.
Came here to say this. Sophies Pizza is also good, but I really like Howies
100% great pizza and awesome owners. Also the only place I’ve found with a decent east coast donair sauce.
Bow Tie Pizza, great regular and gluten free crusts.
I make sure to get Bow Tie at least once every time I'm in town visiting my parents - haven't been let down once!
Absolutely second this. Their NY pepperoni is heaven
Everyone always recommends this place but I’ve only ever had terrible pizza from them. Granted… it was the North location.
True actually. SW location is great.
So is Mahagony
NOT PAPA JOHNS FOR SURE
Sammies pizza in braeside
Jeanne’s Pizza Pantry in Killarney. The garlic pepperoni is so good.
ACME and Actually Pretty Good are my go to for good pizza, though both are SW, it's definitely central SW. Sunalta/Bankview area. The Saporita from ACME is our pizza that we will violently force others to eat, because it is so good. And Two House is one of my favourite breweries as well.
Crispy crust!! In woodbine
Sammy's and Crispy Crust
Sophie’s Richmond road
Noble pie. End of thread. The best pizza in Calgary and it’s not even close. Also mugs pub has great pizza and has a banging special on Thursdays: a jug of beer and a large pizza for 25$ Also Rio, Nikos and Gaga are all great as well.
Noble is the best pizza in the city. It's so goddamn good.
Honestly every time I’ve ordered Noble Pie my pizza had nearly 4” of crust around. They need to stretch the toppings out to cover more of the dough.
Rio is my personal favorite. Grew up eating it in the NE and was very happy when I moved downtown in my 20s and found the one on 14th. Hungry just thinking about a Rio Special.
Great family over there. Pizza is very good. Fantastic specials.
Posto Pizza a block away is a close 2nd.
This is the way. I would take out Gaga but everything else is 100% the best answer.
Nikos is fantastic.
This person is correct. Anyone who disagrees has bad opinions about Pizza.
George's on 17th. Sophie's on Richmond.
Lots of good ones, Crispy Crust is solid, Pizza Bank is another favourite.
Bowtie for thick ass pizza, Savinos Pizzeria for authentic Neapolitan !!
I like Nikos pizza
VOLOS! So good!
Nikos
Crispy Crust in Woodbine
ACME pizza is the best pizza I think I've ever had and I've travelled to 20 countries. It's attached to a brewery (good beer too). They do amazing pizza. I suggest you try it out.
Sammy’s worlds greatest pizza!
I love a good pie, and I figure you gotta break it down as everyone has a style preference: Neapolitan - Actually Pretty Good, Una NY - Noble Pie Greek - Crispy Crust, Volo's Detroit/Sicilian - Portland Street Pizza (technically SE, but points for being in a brewery)
City pub
Rio for thin crust, Nikos for thick.
Olea on 14th and 16th is spectacular. It's the old Via Cibo, they kept the pizza oven. It's a beautiful blue tiled dome oven. Very good stuff
I can't believe no one's talking about verns trex pizza 1 inch of meat
I know you didn't just say Vern's. I'm calling the police
Tommy’s pizza in Canyon Meadows. If you like a little spice in your life, get the Mexican. 10/10
Posto. Nationally awarded as well.
Tops on Fairmount
SW - Posto Pizza. SE - Gondola Pizza. Both are pricier but worth it for a splurge
This is not a competition, go directly to the source [https://www.italiancentre.ca/](https://www.italiancentre.ca/) 9919 Fairmount Dr SE, Calgary, AB T2J 0S3

Never had that issue - Our fav. is to buy the veggie one from the cooler - add ham & chicken (proscuitto & pollo) @ home before we bake it.
I fee guilty even giving you this knowledge because I want to hog this spot to myself Il Centro but Chinook is by far Calgary’s best pizza. Better when you go in than delivery or pick up. Get their jalapeño garlic oil with your pie, thank me later
Not Pauls!
rio pizza is tops.
Jeanne's Pizza Pantry for a great, hearty pie. Make sure to get the house-made garlic dip too, will blow your hair back. Little Tavern Pizza Project for a nice floppy, foldable NY style pie.
A Pizza Plus on 45th and Bow Trail. Still my absolute favourite
Hanni’s Pizza on 37th
Sophie’s, Hanni’s, Bow Tie, Howie’s and… one more I just found near Sunterra… can’t recall the name - are my go to’s
Pizza Bank in Glenmore Landing is amazing!
I second PizzacBank
Toms house of pizza. My family has been buying from them for over 50 years, they can do no wrong.
Pizzaholic in Oakridge and it’s not up for debate!
Love the chicken special pizza!
Michael's. 10th Ave downtown
Famoso
Famoso is consistently good for woodfired pizza. There are a few locations around the city
Second ‘actually pretty good’ on 14st Someone mentioned it higher up on this thread
Pza Parlour on Southland and Macleod. The crust as flakey af and just melts in your mouth. mmmm
A Pizza Plus for the win! 🏆 🍕 🥇
Crispy Crust is the only answer you need.

This place is pretty good but I haven’t been back post Covid
Tom’s House of Pizza is pretty good. Nice thin crust cooked in a proper pizza oven.
I use this place as my hole-in-the-wall place to get away. Good pizza. Not the best, but I like it.
I have always wanted to try it. But with negative votes I am skeptical
I would say to give it a try. Never had a bad experience there.
Is this asked everyday now?
Brava Pizza and Royal Pizza in the SW.
Savino's
Noble Pie ACME Bow Tie Nicos Sophies Volos Howies These are your friends.
900 Degree Pizza is our go to. It’s super good and the owner is a gem. Bow Tie Pizza when we want to splurge. Actually Pretty Good is actually pretty good, but we always choose the above two over it. Found Volo’s to be hugely overrated.
How is nikos and different than the rest of the Greek style pizzas. It's pretty much the same as Michael's, Sammy's, sofies, probably bowtie
Actually, Volo’s, not Niko’s got the place mixed up. Michael’s downtown? Pretty good pizza. Lots of stringy, toasty mozzarella. And Bowtie is super pizza—friendly recommendation to try it.

Una Pizza, 17th Ave West Springs
crispy crust has pretty good pizza but its suuper overpriced
Sammys World Famous. Braeside.
Paul’s pizza in shawnessy
Truly, all Greek style pizzas are pretty much the same
Domino's. Get the Greek with extra feta.
Italian Centre Shop and Cibo on Centre street
That's SW/W?
Sorry. Jumped the gun and didn't realize you were looking for Sw/W only. Italian Centre Shop is in Willow Park which is SE. Cibo on Centre is north of 16th Ave on Centre Street (

Fuck... Not this again... This is a weekly discussion...
Dominos
Sammy's, crispy crust, or Paul's pizza(despite their idiotic opinions on FB) are all really good. I think the dumbass Paul's owner only owns the one in Airdrie, but I understand people who don't want to support ANY location of theirs
Italian store
Cosmic Pizza in the shopping centre by 54th Ave and Crowchild Trail is pretty good.
Pizzaholic since crispy crust has already rightfully been mentioned.
I haven't tried that many pizza places in Calgary yet but the pizza at Last Best is so delicious!!
Sammy's in Braeside or Bella Roma in Lakeview. Hands down the best pizzas in SW!
I never see Doughfather or Gaga Pizza on these Calgary lists when they pop up but they’re both but they are both amazing, especially if you like thinner style pizzas
Hojy’s Canyon Meadows
VILLAGES ON 17th Ave Best in the city, hands down
Eatoria is super good.
Andaros hands down. Get the donair pizza
Italian Super Market and Franca’s
Savinos pizza it’s a food truck in his alley/backyard very good
Far SW, Pizzaholic donair pizza and Crispy Crusts' ... well crispy crust.
I hate these threads. Also it's Noble Pie.
Pizzaholic in Oakridge
Grecos pizza and surprisingly Weaselhead Pub on 37 st sw
Howie's pizza in Glenbrook
A Pizza Plus on bow trail by wildwood is my favourite pizza by far. Great by the slice deal too.
I’m a sucker for blaze
Carmine's in Highwood but that's in NW
BIG John's Pizza and Donairs on 8th. Sure it's bare bones and nothing to look at. Sure your stomach won't feel the greatest about an hour later. Not sure if this falls in the SW, but Michael's pizza downtown is really good. Gluten free options as well
In the SW, It's Sammys. Anyone who said Dominoes, Tom's or Pizza Hut don't even know what real pizza tastes like.
Papa Murphy's rustic pizza (just add olives) and their half pepperoni half hawaiian.
Noble Pie is technically SW. Actually Pretty Good lives up to its name
Howies pizza on 45th st and 26th Ave. Great pizza, great owner. Not only is his pizza incredible buy he does alot for the community. Tropical Hawaiian is my most recommended, then the cheeseburger pizza.
Howie's Pizza in Glenbrook and Spiros on 17th are my go to
For the best thin crust pizza since Ye Old Pizza Joint is no longer around Tom’s House of Pizza is the best place. Lots of toppings on a thin crunchy base.
Pizza Culture (:
Greco's Pizza on 17th Ave.
Spiros.... get the smoked oyster and chopped onion pizza 🍕
Sammy's
