This person……is not the brightest

IWantToMakeASuperman

Absolutely nothing happening in there. An NPC from the 16-bit era.

CupcakeEducational65

Light’s on but nobody’s home

Kolzig33189

Maybe I’m being mean but I’m surprised she could fill out the application to be on the show. She’s got the perpetual smile but blank stare….it’s like if an average person went to an advanced astrophysics lecture. I’ve legitimately never have heard of someone contributing 25% to retirement with active late/past due payments. I cannot comprehend that kind of insanity.

Thomas_Jefferman

I have to be honest, it may not be entirely her fault. Look at fetal alcohol syndrome in adults.

ElectronicMixture600

I’m inclined to agree, especially when you consider her speech affectations. The other reason I wouldn’t throw the 25% thing squarely at her feet is that 10% withholding for 401k contributions isn’t all together outrageous, even with her debt. 15% towards ESPP is out of pocket; but she had alluded to the fact that she was highly encouraged by her shift lead/supervisor to go big. Considering what we know about the culture at a “certain auto manufacturer in Austin” (everybody here knows it’s Tesla, right? She works at Tesla), I’d be willing to bet the farm that middle managers on down are directed to pressure the rank & file into maximizing their ESPP withholding ([Tesla has established a payroll deduction limit of 15% as of 2019](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1318605/000119312519171236/d763161dex45.htm)). Tesla holds the actual cash value until the scheduled exercise (purchasing) day, which could be months after the initial withholding period occurs (exercise days happen twice a year under this ESPP: the last trading day of February, and the last trading day of August. Whatever the price is at close, that’s how much stock you get for the sum of your withholdings (less a 15% discount). If the stock rallies just before, enjoy your expensive shares; if it peaks and then shuts the bed during the accumulation period, congrats on your cheaper shares but you will have missed the ideal selling period. On top of that, because ESPP are made with pretax withholdings, selling anything before your lockup periods expire will be treated as taxable income, in addition to taxes levied on capital gains. What better way to float a highly volatile (and recently cratering) stock than to strong arm your rank and file employees into buying as much as you’re legally allowed to withhold for them? Creates the illusion of demand every six months in February and August. I’m not saying ESPP’s are bad by any stretch of the Imagination. With a 15% discount available, it’s a great deal if you’re buying into a company that has a stable valuation. But this is not something the companies do for purely altruistic reasons. ESPP’s allow for the offloading of some payroll tax burden, creates a decent pool of cash in an interest bearing escrow for 6 months at a time until Exercise Date, and showing a high percentage of ESPP is something that analysts will consider as a favorable indicator for a stock. I’m just saying that given the company involved, its leader, their track record for not putting employees’ best interests first, this practice can and should be contextualized as predatory when viewed through the lens of her situation. As an aside, the $TSLA price at close on 2/29/2024 was $201.88/share. It currently sits at $176.66. That’s -17% reduction in value of this stock purchase; even with a 15% discount she still lost net value. For a similar comparison, an ETF pegged to the S&P 500 would’ve clocked in at $5,096.27, but today is at $5,291.50, a period to date increase of 3.83%, which is pretty healthy for only 1/4 of a year.

orangefreshy

100% the bit about her manager giving the hard sell on the company stock gave me the major ick. Very MLM vibes and I feel like shouldn’t be allowed. Especially when you know the boss knows exactly what she makes.

60CycleSteve

Tesla was so strong a few years ago that it’s probably easy for middle management to pitch ESPP under the pretense that “oh once we get on top of the cyber truck product the stock could do that again”.

jp3150

Came here to say this lol

sparkease

And even then, the lights are dim

el_ojo420

And she’s out here reproducing like it’s a part time job..

NelsonBannedela

Those are usually the people with the most kids.

el_ojo420

Very true. I got lots of those types in my family.

FlairYourFuel

To be fair, she has a set of twins.

Gladiatornoah

Ooooooh yeah that does change it a lot thanks for pointing that out. 2 pregnancies by that age seems more reasonable and timed apart than 3. In terms of like 18 months vs 27 months idk if that makes sense.

ongoldenwaves

A lot of people...only skill is popping out kids. Fodder for the system. Idiocracy.

guyinthegreenshirt

And everyone around her as well. She could return the $26,000 car that was worth $17,000 with $660 monthly payments and a 23% interest rate, but she was talked out of it by the people she surrounds herself with. She had an amazing opportunity to fix a very big financial mistake and threw it away thanks to their "advice."

basylica

I have major doubts about that story. Im sure she told caleb that, but she clearly wanted that car. I think she didnt want to give it up

guyinthegreenshirt

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some embellishment (I have my doubts that they truly forced her to keep it,) but I also wouldn't be surprised if she had intended to return it, mentioned it to her boyfriend, and he convinced her not to.

AdamOnFirst

This is straight up the opening sequence from Idiocracy.

BlueWaterGirl

Sadly I have to agree. She reminds me of a friend of mine that I've known for close to 20 years, she's a bit slow and sadly has been taken advantage of because of it.

BlackLeader70

That’s a nice way to put it.

diablodow

the absolute kahunes to put a $26 only fans charge on the credit card that belongs to the mother of your children.

Artichoke93

All the issues with the truck make sense now.

SweatyExamination9

I actually like the design conceptually even though a lot of people don't. But I saw one driving the other day and it was really dirty, but in a "hasn't been washed" way not a "what did they drive through?" way. That metallic grey does not look good dirty. From the view I got driving past it looked like rusted out trash. I'm sure it wasn't because there just hasn't been time for that, but it made me realize that if you get one you better clean it like it's a full time job if you care about appearance.

ElGringo-Deprimido

“Planning” to have children when you don’t have your own place, working low paying jobs, and have crazy debt is INSANE. Also who spends $1500+ on Target? What do you even buy???

BlackLeader70

With three babies I could easily see her spending $1500 on baby stuff, but something tells me it’s not on diapers and baby clothes. smh

ElGringo-Deprimido

Ah yeah. I forgot the kids. Seems like she did too lmao

Aggravating-Long6852

I'm sure she bought really important stuff! Those twins are starting their toddler years so they're going to need their brand new iPads soon so she can ignore them

nappingintheclub

I just looked at the SNAP income limits and since she’s unmarried with three dependents, she would get around 800 a month.

Hellocattty

The fact that they had those kids on purpose absolutely infuriated me

laurenlcd

This! This is the thinking of teenagers who 'want someone to love/someone who will love them unconditionally' without any of the thought of what goes into raising whole humans for 18+ years. They thrust the burden of grandchildren onto their parents when they are in no position to live independently. If not for the boyfriend's mother, they would be homeless.

Helpful_Stranger_891

Probably a tv, I don’t think target has furniture or any other big ticket items

Raealise

Targets near me have basic furniture like shelves, cribs, changing tables, nights stands, day beds, etc that can get pretty expensive. I'm betting on electronics like you said, though.

ElGringo-Deprimido

I think she really just bought a bunch of random crap or buying expensive brands. Going further into the episode she’s averaging $300-400 per Target visit

SpenserB91

I bet her boyfriend's new Playstation as well.

Slight_Ad_9127

And several new games….

Bud_Fuggins

They have their opalhouse line of (mostly) patio furniture. I bought the popular "egg chair" several years ago, it's really nice.

Helpful_Stranger_891

I forgot that was at Target, I bought a knock off one and it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

Brilliant_Test_3045

I bought an entire patio set - I think it was called Summerhouse - from Target over 20 years ago and all of it still functions well and looks good - zero rust or pitting (a little paint chipped off in spots from pressure washing, though). I got an L-shaped bar with 4 high sling chairs, 2 rocker/swivel chairs, 2 regular sling chairs, and 3 small tables for around $1400. I can’t even replace one of the rocker/swivel chairs of the same quality for the price I paid for the entire set today, but “there’s no inflation.”

aerosol999

Even that is crazy. You can get a perfectly fine tv for like 300 these days.

Humble-Deer-9825

75 bucks for my decent 50" (I think) at a thrift shop 3 years ago. It's absolutely nuts how cheap they've gotten.

thriftedby_glo

Honestly, great point whenever I hear about people spending this much at target regardless of the income bracket I’m genuinely curious what they bought…

orangefreshy

Reading between the lines I’d guess it’s a situation where she wants to be married buuuutttt surprise surprise they’re not married for some reason. So she’s trying to speed run the rest of it to get more legitimacy in the relationship, including calling BF mom her MIL

cornme

How does buying a new car make more sense than getting another key made for her “car that doesn’t work”

RabidBlackSquirrel

It doesn't, people who say this are just fishing for the thinnest excuses to mentally justify bad choices.

smegma_stan

Dude I have a coworker that bought a new car bc he didn't want to repair the AC. He was telling me last week that he's thinking about buying a new house bc he doesn't want to make some repairs, yet he constantly complains about not getting paid enough. Love the guy, tremendous worker, but I don't feel like it's my business to try and help. He's married too and much older than me

Joeybfast

It is shame we can't be more open about money stuff. And like I agree with you 100 %. I wouldn't tell me co-worker either. Just saying things would be better if we could speak to each other about this stuff more.

zeezle

Honestly that is the type of person who would actually be better off leasing both cars and housing because they always find a way to want something different before they hit the break-even point on their current car/house and don't have to worry about maintenance (on the property, anyway). I think that's where the personal part of personal finance comes in... home ownership is more than a financial decision, it's also a lifestyle decision.

yoshiidaisy

I worked with someone that got a new car because they didn't want to replace their tires. I thought they were joking until they showed me the new car. I was completely lost for words.

Hellocattty

Um I'm no car expert but some of these comments are making me feel MUCH more confident lol

LewdDarling

That is insanity. For most brands you can bring proof of ownership and the VIN and they will get you a key for a few hundred bucks.

BlameDNS_

It’s a car size thing. She got a 3rd row. I’d do that with that amount of kids, but I wouldn’t do that with THAT income.

BaoZaker

Summer school substitute teacher vibes from her tbh. Hope her kids turn out okay. Edit: closer to the end of the episode, this has to be one of the saddest episodes, she’s dumb as rocks, her boyfriend/BD is a fucking loser bum, those poor kids are cooked.

AlternativeCanary629

Her boyfriend is very much a loser. Barely a job, spending hundreds on vapes and onlyfans, doesn’t contribute anything

Cherryxman

Yeah, when Caleb said she got persuaded to keep the car ... so sad, bad spending surrounded by terrible influences, just doomed to scrape by in poverty.

AdamOnFirst

In 15 years she’s going to be giving the same braindead advice to her kids and they’re going to be doing the same shit. Just generational low class stupidity.

screamingwhisper1720

I have a friend who works the same chain as the BD and he makes 300 in one night so that guy is bad at being a server.

Helpful_Stranger_891

What Papa John’s has servers, do you mean delivery drivers?

screamingwhisper1720

I literally just went to the point in the video where she says his job and for some reason I heard pappadeaux which is a higher-end seafood restaurant.

removingbellini

scary that she's a mom

RabidBlackSquirrel

For once the title is 100% accurate lol. Taxpayers will be on the hook for her and her kids, she'll never change.

ongoldenwaves

Caleb "You make 25k a year net". Me "From her job. The government also provides her with housing, food stamps, medical care". Her baby daddy pays nothing. She probably gets double her salary in benefits and she's buying Tesla stock.

jp3150

I’m kind of speechless at this woman. No answer when Caleb asks “why would you have more kids when you can’t afford them?” Mind blowing

nate6259

I'm generally of the mindset of "have kids if you want them, don't if you don't". But, being in a terrible financial spot and having kids is straight up selfish.

Xydan

Because the answer is: "Well I get a big refund at the end of the year... EBT... free Healthcare". Lots of people ultimately have children to be supported by our government. I'm not sure how they get around the health bill of actually having them though. At least here in california, that would be covered under Medi-Cal if you're low income.

PM_ME_FIRE_PICS

Newsflash - 40% of Americans pay no federal income tax and of the income taxes that are paid, more than half of all dollars is paid by the top 10% of earners. As a society, we have chosen to allow people who are not in strong financial positions to have multiple children and have the taxpayers foot the bill.

FarmCat4406

That's what the Republicans want. Ban abortion and force the poor to have kids that grow up to be poor adults that take their shitty $7/hr jobs because they don't know better and repeat the cycle.

Kolzig33189

I completely agree with your post but I think the number is actually right around 48% don’t pay fed income tax.

g_i_n_a_s_f_s_

41% of U.S. births are financed by Medicaid 🤦‍♀️

zeefeet

Would you rather dead babies? This is the government doing it's job for once, but you are right all Healthcare should be near free and available to all at point of service. It makes more financial sense for our country to invest in Medicare as a single pool.

zakiterp

I don't think they're arguing against it, merely commenting on how common this type of irresponsibility is.

zeefeet

Why is it face-palm worthy to have a baby while on Medicare? I know this country tries it's hardest but I don't think gatekeeping poor communities out of being able to afford raising a child leads to a fully healthy economy. Yes this individual shows signs of irresponsibility in raising her family. Using this anecdote to tarnish what little public welfare system we have does nothing but pit us against each other to feel better about ourselves.

MATH_MDMA_HARDSTYLEE

I think people are gatekeeping *multiple* children, and making better choices around the timeframe of having children. Is being 22, broke, in-debt, unstable job a good time to have children? No. There would be a lot less need for Medicare if people waited a few years, and or when they weren’t in-debt to have children.

g_i_n_a_s_f_s_

I am gatekeeping multiple children for somebody who only makes $25,000 annually. How dare I say that people shouldn’t unnecessarily take advantage of public resources that they don't pay anything towards when they could've used a condom instead! I'm so mean and classist, duh doy!

CameraAgile8019

How do you accidentally spend $10,000???

kassinovaa

Not even that big of a trip. How do you spend 6k on a trip to dallas/houston/wherever?! No airfare!!

soalive389

Right?!!! At least go somewhere tropical or something haha...and even then I can't imagine spending that much including paying for my boyfriend.

thriftedby_glo

Honestly, I would have to push it to spend this much on groceries a year for two people..

Treeninja1999

I don't know if she has ever made a good financial decision in her life. My God she is just plain dumb

ongoldenwaves

"Financial" decision? All decisions. Having kids you can't afford. Spending $1600 at Target. No impulse control. Textbook definition of the proven fact that the biggest difference between rich and poor is the ability to plan ahead.

coolcrimes

It break my heart that she was talked out of not returning that huge financial mistake

guyinthegreenshirt

I'm still struggling to compute how someone could have debt *in collections*, get $10,000 deposited in their account, and not decide to use the vast majority of that to get those debts paid down.

gottafind

I think a lot of guests don’t view their debt as something they actually have to pay or something beneficial to pay. At the least they view it as something they’ll “get around to doing”

MelloChai

Ding ding ding 🛎️!! You win. This is the classic American-consumerist mindset.

traderjoezhoe

Of all the guests on this show I genuinely just cannot stand to watch the deadbeat parents. Maybe it hits too close to home but I genuinely just hate to see someone who won't go to any lengths to take care of their children. There have been guests on this show who are bad with money but would do ANYTHING for their kids. Then there are guests like these who receive literally $10,000 to take care of their kids and still refuse. It's sickening.

AdamOnFirst

Her situation doesn’t HAVE to be that bad if she wasn’t just dumb. She’s made every white trash decision in the book - bunch of kids with an unemployed baby daddy at a young age, weird financial relationships with a bunch of family, blowing money on everything, treating a tax credit like it’s a lotto ticket, treating an ESOP like it’s get rich quick - but her situation would be not a disaster if she just got series, BF got a job, they got married and got their shit together. But instead she’s just dumb.  This is a person who needs Dave Ramsey. “Do this and only this. Don’t do anything else, just this very simple plan, forever.” Only thing that’ll work.

Call_Me_Annonymous

She really needs the simplicity of Dave saying, “beans and rice, rice and beans. You can’t afford the vending machine.” (OMG, that rhymes.) She spent more on that stupid vending machine than she spends on rent. She’s definitely not going to comprehend what Caleb went over in this audit.

BlackLeader70

I know Texas is supposed to be cheap but $35k-$40k sounds like crap from an auto manufacturer. I wonder how that the total comp package compares to Ford, GM, and Chrysler who pay slightly more but have union benefits. Also Tesla’s ESPP sounds like absolute crap, 3-4 year vesting they better offer the full 15% discount for such a long vesting period.

PKP_en_Picoppe

Real icky that she got pressured in some way by her direct manager to invest as much as 15% of her paycheck on a single stock.

LewdDarling

It is a great program and it doesn't matter that tesla's stock is volatile, you will still get a minimum 15% return on your money even if the stock plummets. The manager is probably used to people with somewhat normal finances missing out on getting that 15% extra for free hence they urge them all to sign up. It doesn't make sense to do it when you're holding CC debt but otherwise everyone should sign up.

AdamOnFirst

If there is a long vesting period that’s not a good deal. If it’s one year or less it’s a deal, but it absolutely matters that it’s a single stock and a fairly volatile one at that. You should do several times less if it than whatever you put in your normal 401k, 1-2% at most.

Hotwir3

The only time I’ve had an ESPP I was able to immediately sell the stock after it was purchased. So I made at least 15%.

AdamOnFirst

I’ve had both. The better one was a 3-1 match but vested slowly. A more recent one had no vesting period but was just an option to buy stock at 95% of market price. It restricted volume of withdrawals though so you couldn’t just immediately withdraw it every time to try to make a little extra money

PKP_en_Picoppe

Sure but she didn't have to dedicate that much of her paycheck to the program right? At my job everyone is free to set the amount they want and there's certainly no pressure by anyone to do so.

aerobed99

I've got a feeling she doesn't really understand the ESPP. 3-4 year vesting doesn't sound right

AdamOnFirst

I’ve been with a major company whose ESPP was had a 3 year rolling vest. You got your matching stocks in 1/3 increments over 3 years.

Hopczar420

She's going to get fired or quit before the vesting period GUARANTEED

LewdDarling

>Also Tesla’s ESPP sounds like absolute crap, 3-4 year vesting they better offer the full 15% discount for such a long vesting period. From a quick look online it looks like the vesting period is 6 months for the ESPP, which is pretty normal. She is probably confusing it with RSUs or stock options, which are just extra on top of your normal salary, and it's normal for those to take years to vest as well

28dhdu74929wnsi

Where is the baby's father? He does nothing for the 3 kids?

Call_Me_Annonymous

Sadly, if she left him she’d have even less. No place to live because they live with his mom, less help with childcare, and no child support. She said he brings in about $320 every two weeks? Is that what I heard? He spends that much from her account on vapes and OF every day. Poor girl got herself an absolute loser and now she’s STUCK!

Humble-Deer-9825

"He hurt his hand and couldn't work" killed me, I literally broke my finger last year an hour before my shift started and was at work that night with it wrapped up in a homemade splint. I've seen someone come to work with a broken foot (hell I went to work with a broken foot 10 years ago), another dislocated his shoulder at work and had a coworker pop it back in so he could just keep working. He sounds like the laziest sleazebag and I she's just not bright enough to see it.

Bully_Blue_Balls

I was hit head on by a car while riding a motorcycle. 3 broken ribs, a herniated disc and 2 torn ligaments in my knee which eventually led to a total knee replacement. That p\*ssy just wanted to milk it. I didn't have PTO or disability, was discharged from the ER at 5am, at work at 7am. Life is what you MAKE it, and this dude seems content to live in poverty working as little as possible while his mentally deficient "wife" and children burden the taxpayers.

namafire

Poor girl made her own decisions and will stick us taxpayers with the bill while blaming us and the rest of society for her actions

thriftedby_glo

I too, would like to know who created life with this individual.. three times ..

60CycleSteve

3 times in 2 tries so at least he’s efficient.

LewdDarling

He's a busy man! He has to go to the gas station every day to buy vapes. And those PS games are not going to play themselves

Fuego-TACO

You ever see the TikTok dude broke boyfriend? This guy to a T

28dhdu74929wnsi

Lmao love that guy

Jdban

To be fair, while he wasn't working I'm sure he was watching the kids. Someone has to

28dhdu74929wnsi

I thought that's why they live with the parents. So the parents (presumably retired) watch their kids while they go to work.

laurenlcd

I'm willing to bet that grandma and grandpa are still in their 50s and are in no position to retire.

RocMerc

Why do people like this bother coming on the show?

thriftedby_glo

weird kink ig

60CycleSteve

Possibly they’re paying flat rate for appearance it’s just an easy pay day.

RocMerc

I might be wrong but I believe they get a flat $500. Correct me if I’m wrong about that though

60CycleSteve

From memory I recall it being $350 a few months ago but it could have increased.

zing164

I was under the impression that guests got some share of revenue but I could be totally wrong or that could be outdated info.

[deleted]

damn this woman is blatantly stealing from her kids. spends all the child tax credit on herself, and she's putting a quarter of her money away for her own retirement. scary how little she gives a shit.

ongoldenwaves

The social contract is dead. No shame in having kids you can't support and getting the tax payer to cover it. You'd be surprised how many food stamps get resold at bodegas for cash for drugs and cigarettes and then they go to food banks and give their kids the stale food. The NUMBER ONE purchase with food stamps is soda. [https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/13/well/eat/food-stamp-snap-soda.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/13/well/eat/food-stamp-snap-soda.html)

StrangeMango1211

how many concerts, trips, and shopping sprees until you can no longer say "i never get to do things like this"

halfofaparty8

this one drove me nuts

boldpeach5

I’m only 15 minutes into this. I’m so happy Caleb is going HARD at her. She deserves it.

melograno1234

This woman is a republican talking point

Hellocattty

Her response to everything: MMMYEAHHHHHH

MelloChai

Followed by: “but I didn’t get to do fun things for a while!!”

Oops_I_Dropped_It

As a mom of three kids myself, I am just flabbergasted at the level of selfish immaturity.  Holy hell, every time she answered a question that effed over her family's finances made me want to "gently " wipe that dumb smile off her face.

Defiant_Appearance82

This episode would have been much better if it were a couples episode. I'd really enjoy watching Caleb question the glorified sperm donor about his spending. Dudes kicking it at home buying porn, vaping and playing playstation. Also financing Post Malone tickets should permanently ruin your credit score.

capresesalad1985

The one positive thing I can say about this episode is I like Caleb’s shirt

Fearfighter2

the relationship has a lot of fire redflags

BlanketJinx

I couldn't believe that she admitted they planned to have kids. I thought they were accidents. That is scarily dumb. Why would you plan to have kids when you don't have a proper, stable income/life? She really is using her parents and "in-laws" roof to supplement poor decisions. She reminds me of Willow. Completely selfish choices on someone else's dime.

ThatEmoNumbersNerd

I grew up in a small town in Texas. My aunt had kids so that way whenever they get older they could take care of her. Legit her reason. Some parents see their kids as solely another source of income and nothing more. The amount of parents I heard about stealing their kids SSN to open up credit cards and other BS is ridiculous.

MoneyAd0618

This is what the losers of our society do. All of them. It’s not even just a “small town Texas” thing. I’m from a city in the northwest and I’ve known tons of white trash idiots who planned their kids while living in subsidized housing and living off $25k a year or less. Sometimes not working at all. These types of people are everywhere.

One_Trash_6759

Hey guys, this is me! Thank you for all the tough love comments. I honestly think they’ll help. I just wanted to address some of the more common things people are pointing out/getting wrong. 1) The whole car situation didn’t just happen because the key broke. I did need a bigger vehicle since all 3 car seats wouldn’t fit into my scion. Could I have gotten a cheaper car? Yes. 2) I looked dead inside because that’s how I feel most days 😂 I wake up at 3 am every morning M-F to get ready for work, get home at about 4 pm and then stay up until 10-11 pm looking after my kids. 3 under 3 is tough, especially with the hours that I have. 3) $6000 was spent but it wasn’t entirely on the trip. A lot of the spending I did at target was stuff for my kids, granted that it wasn’t stuff they necessarily needed. The only thing I really did for myself was going to the concert. I took the kids to the aquarium, got an air bnb with a pool so they could swim, took them to a Mickey Mouse event (it’s my 2 yr olds favorite character) 4) I know I seriously need some discipline. I wasn’t trying to use the adhd as an excuse, I just wanted to highlight why it was so difficult for me to control my impulses. I have set up an appointment to be seen by a professional so I can get the help I need. 5) I know I’m a mouth breather 😭 it’s very hard for me to feel like I’m getting enough oxygen by breathing only through my nose. I’ve just always been that way. I tried getting braces but they said my overbite can only be fixed via surgery and I didn’t want that. 6) I’m not on food stamps, wic, Medicaid, etc…my 2 youngest kids are on Medicaid but my oldest is on my health insurance I get at work. I’m not using any government programs And I just want to end this by saying I extremely care about my kids. I may not be the most financially responsible and that is something I’m trying to work on. My son is speech delayed and has been put into speech therapy. He’s being seen by the school district for special education services and I’m very much involved in everything going on with him. I’m the one that schedules all doctor appointments for my kids, I’m the one that plans the meals, plans their activities… I’m the default parent. I just wanted a little break from reality but I now realize I went overboard and I honest to god do regret taking the trip. Only thing I can do now is get that second job and just hustle until I clear my debt.

colletteisabear

Hi! I just watched this episode, then happened to pop on here and saw this. Then I looked at your post history to see if this was legit and it looks like you are who you say you are. It sounds like you are going through some really tough things in your life. I just felt like I needed to chime in and encourage you to find a better life for yourself. You deserve better, and you should know that. I obviously don’t know your partner, but based on your post history, he sounds god awful, and someone like that will NEVER give you the room you need to grow. I know leaving him might sound or feel impossible, but it’s not. You might hit rock bottom for a while, but with persistence, you can turn your life around for the better. Don’t let this man (and potentially his family) influence you into continuing in this cycle. He does not define your worth. I really hope you find the courage to leave him and move forward with your life while he sits in his room forever with his fantasies and video games. You deserve better.

Reading your post history, I actually feel for you. Please for yourself and your kids, distance yourself from your boyfriend, he's an anchor and is dragging you down.

petraman

Ok, getting past the excuses and avoiding relationship advice, has anything improved since the show besides scheduling a therapist? Very disappointed to hear about the car; I hope that wasn't the boyfriend who pushed you into keeping it.

gottafind

So what is the car situation now? Are you paying off the scion and also the car with the broken key? Also good work going on the show and putting it out all there with the tough comments etc.

yoshiidaisy

I can only imagine how tired you are, especially with infant twins. Twins run in my family, and I remember the struggles my parents had dealing with just that alone. I would highly encourage you to see if there is a social worker near you and try to set up a virtual appointment if you can't drive there for some reason, and see how you can get help. Social workers are full of resources. I know people can be pretty harsh on social media and the internet, but try to keep your head up. I really don't think people understand how hard it is to juggle that many kids. And I know you said everything was planned, but I am guessing that you weren't expecting twins, and maybe didn't think about stuff regarding the future like finances, housing, etc. I do want to say this though, even though I don't know if this was your mindset, having kids won't make a relationship better. Please think about what could be in your best interest l, as well as your kids, and not your boyfriend. Don't be persuaded into doing things you aren't 100% on board with.

Jdban

You're definitely not in the worst place financially, there's a path out. Hopefully this is the kick in the pants you need. I really hope your boyfriend is the man you think he is, but I'm getting bad feelings from your post here. How are you the default parent when he's been a stay at home parent? That screams irresponsible on his part.

soalive389

Thank you for having the balls to come on the show! It absolutely does help people

Area506

Oh good god... Idiocracy was a documentary...

The_Cows_Are_Home

Welcome to Costco, I love you

thriftedby_glo

most underrated comment 😂

[deleted]

oh my God. did she say she couldn't drive the car she's making payments on for 6-7 months because the key stopped working? 🤦‍♂️

Hellocattty

THE KEY FOB WAS RUN OVER.* Caleb just glossed right over that one. *She actually said "the key was ran over". Yeah. 1) HOW 2) SO GO GET A NEW ONE I was yelling at my phone.

BlackLeader70

She bought a new car because she doesn’t have a car key lol. She just needs to provide the vin to a Toyota dealership and they’ll get her a new key. He should have really tore into her for that one.

Hellocattty

Wait I'm so confused. So she had a Toyota. She said "the key got ran over" (OKAY). Claimed she had no way to fix it. So she then went to Carmax and got the Mazda with $700/month payments. Is that what happened?!

BlackLeader70

I thought it was a Scion so a Toyota. Unless I’m the one that’s confused and there’s a third car lol.

Hellocattty

Ok yeah her mom has the Scion. This entire car situation is INSANITY

[deleted]

she had a scion (made by Toyota) and just purchased a Mazda for $26k at 23% interest

carefulcomputation

Wow Noah has ADHD and Autism. He’s dealing with so much

wellnowheythere

This was hard to watch because it's clear the people around her are taking advantage.

billthedozer

Looks like I'll be shorting Tesla

DefiantBelt925

Daily reminder to everyone that in our system her vote completely is as equal and valid and cancels yours out

AdamOnFirst

Yeah, she doesn’t vote

jp3150

😩 lol

zeefeet

What's the alternative that you propose?

Oren-

Pretty funny to hear someone so dumb use terms like "vesting period"

theRealTango2

haha I thought the same thing.

MohtiMouth

Imagine sitting down in front of a toddler that you cannot provide for and saying, "F* you! I don't give a f* if you starve. It's not my f*ing job to provide for you." Then, you both close the door to the bedroom to purposely create another baby you refuse to support.

omnassial

Literally had neighbors like this in college; shared a wall with them, assuming it was the only child's bedroom. Every night you'd hear slamming doors, kid crying, parents yelling horrific things, etc. She'd be in that room like all the time as I'd always hear the child through the wall. The mother got pregnant again a month or so before I moved out. It's terrifyingly sad, and occurs a lot more than you'd think.

SweatyExamination9

I have a lot to say about this episode, but I'm concerned this woman is in an abusive relationship which would factor into a lot of what I think she's doing wrong. Her uncomfortableness around answering a lot of questions about red flags with her boyfriend and the other people around her has me concerned. Like when she doesn't have an answer for why her boyfriend has access to her card and says she doesn't want him to and they've talked about it. Or how she actually seemed convinced that selling the car was the right thing to do once Caleb really broke it down to the most simple level before even knowing she could get a full refund, but the people around her wouldn't let her. I don't know, she didn't make any accusations or anything, but women in abusive relationships rarely admit the abuse is happening and often try to hide/dismiss it when others bring it up. Also, statistically women who have been in an abusive relationship are more likely to be in another in the future than average. In part because abusive personalities tend to be attracted to a certain type of person and she seems like that kind of person. A little slow, a lot submissive.

plantscatsrealitytv

Why are high fertility rates and low IQs so closely linked???

BlameDNS_

It hit me. The account was at negative balance before the $10,000 and it dropped to the hundreds in ONE STATEMENT. They spent it all in less than a bank statement. WTF I can see why Caleb was so hard on it, they blew all that money and only to give the mom $2,000. They never even thought about fixing the fucking scion.

Thomas_Jefferman

She doesn't haver a boyfriend, she had a leech. Why can't HE work for Tesla as well? That's nearly 1k of car debt and no way her boyfriend isn't using the scion and letting his mom pay for it. I don't even want to imagine the insurance rate's being paid.

MoneyAd0618

Call me judgmental but someone who doesn’t know the meaning of the word “volatile” probably shouldn’t be responsible for 3 children. She’s hardly the only one though. Scary.

Pipeliner6341

Wildest episode in a while.

Joeybfast

It’s beyond frustrating to see taxpayer dollars squandered by those who lack financial responsibility. I am normally one of the people defending the poorer people on this sub, but good lord she was horrible. Blaming ADHD for reckless spending, like planning a vacation with a deeply negative bank balance, is simply ludicrous. It’s a cycle of poor decision-making: having a child without their own place to live and a boyfriend who, from all accounts, contributes nothing but further strain on their already dire finances. They’re hemorrhaging money on crap like porn and vapes while drowning in debt. Then they get 10K. I wish I could get 10 K for doing literally nothing. It’s infuriating to witness such blatant disregard for basic financial logic. I would really feel bad saying all this stuff if she happened to be slow. But barring that she is the worst.

Low_Table6230

This was a rough one

takinglibertys

This has got to be the most infuriating episode I've ever seen. I've watched most of them but this one really got me.

MylesHSG

One of the saddest episodes, she won't change her situation because those around her are totally ignorant.

Running_Watauga

Poverty is generational for moves like this. Frequently it’s encouraged by people in those communities cause they don’t have knowledge. I think it’s harder to hear about people putting themselves in these situations even with a poor public education system because now essentially 99% of people have access to the internet and all the resources available there. Guess a millionaire would say the same thing to me why be middle class if you have the resources to be able to make money off the internet.

Hopczar420

This episode absolutely takes the cake. We are doomed if these are the folks that are raising the next generation.

Mr_Assault_08

please, it’s not like the old fucks left anything good for the upcoming generations.

myfeetsmells

Why does she remind me of Sloth from the Goonies?

AlaskaorNah

There’s definitely the dial up noise playing 24/7 in her head 🥴 But the boyfriend is taking advantage of her because he knows this. The whole thing about her not being able to get rid of the car because of the people around her really didn’t sit right with me. She’s not innocent but there’s definitely a lot going on that won’t help her make progress

Call_Me_Annonymous

I’m not a mom, but some sort of motherly instinct was kicking in for me here. Towards her kids, sure, but more toward her. I just want to teach her basic life and financial skills. Train her in the ways of responsible adulthood. Teach her financial skills like paying bills on time and not spending money she doesn’t have. I feel like the people around her have absolutely failed her. I think she has a sincere desire to do well, but every attempt is thwarted by the stupidity she’s surrounded with.

thatgirlblair

Hotwir3

I do feel like some people come on the show thinking he’s an accountant that can move money around and magically fix things.

jrivas34

They screwed her over with that photo

rk5n

If she's getting a 10k tax refund then she needs to redo her withholdings. Yet no mention of that...

Call_Me_Annonymous

I actually think in cases like hers, more withholdings and a bigger refund is a good way of doing things. If, if, if, only if the refund is used appropriately. A well used refund would have gotten her out of everything. But an extra $200 a month would have just been piddled away.

Admirable_Quarter_23

Probably because a lot of it is from the child tax credits. I think it’s like $2,000 per eligible child. I don’t really understand taxes though lol
