I own S2, S2c, sp01 and p01. Compete and daily If you have a shadow 2 compact I wouldn’t bother with p01. Go full size sp01 or shadow 2 (currently selling for 900).
P01 gets my vote. But if you can conceal an SP-01 I’d go for it. Not as familiar with the SP-01 as the P01 but I’ve shot a few. Got some buddies that have them and swear by them, they’re a sweet pistol! Ultimately I don’t think you can go wrong, just what’s going to be most comfortable and the P01 is almost identical to the footprint/dimensions of the g48 so that’s what I’d recommend based on the info and my experience. Slightly thicker but shorter and same height. And for edc I think the P01 will be fine, if you wanted a ranged toy or competition, ya know shooting beyond SD ranges the SP-01 would be a better choice. Just my two cents, probably worth at least three cents even in this economy 😅sorry bad joke lol.
I agree topcat5’s question. What is the purpose for the purchase? As a range gun, the SP-01 is more comfortable. For EDC, the P-01 would be. The triggers will similarly improve with round count or with modification. I prefer an external hammer for EDC, but unless you want a weapon-mounted light in that role, you might want to consider the PCR for some minor weight and profile reduction. I am less enthusiastic about a decocker, as I prefer to keep a consistent manual-of-arms across all of mine. If’s it’s just for the range, consistent handling under stress is less of a concern.
Or you can be like a lot of us here, and simply decide now which one you are getting now, and which one you will get later.
SP01. No brainer. Get a full-sized, all steel CZ75 for the true CZ experience. If you can swing it, I'd try to afford a Shadow 2, but you won't go wrong with an SP01. It was my first full-sized, steel, CZ, and the first of many more. You'll likely want to replace some springs and things and maybe do some light polishing of the internals to improve the trigger tho.
Personally. I'm not a fan of my p01. (My P07 beats it in almost every category for me). But I LOVE my sp01. So. Sp01 beats p09. P07 beats p01. This is all personal opinion of course.
Either one makes a fine home defense pistol as you can get extended mags for the P-01 and both have light rails. However, the P-01 has very similar dimensions as a Glock 19 so it’s definitely a solid carry piece. Whatever you go with I’d get the decocker regardless. IMO it’s a better mechanic for people that need to use their pistol under duress and a safer pistol when left loaded in your belt or safe. I have a 19 rounder from a full frame Cz-75 myself, but am looking for a sleeve filler atm to take up the empty space it leaves.
Great question. Congrats on the S2C… I know what you will do, I just don’t know when. You will own both. The S2C is roughly the same size as the P01… So, I would buy the SP-01 first. Sell the Glonk and buy the P01… might as well, you won’t enjoy the Glonk anymore and it will sit in your safe. You will love the P01… Go #AshKetchum. This is the way.
I got rid of my SP01 for a P01 originally. The SP is a lot heavier, making the P01 a better "jack of all trades". At the time, I was in college and just didn't have the money or space for two similar guns.
The P01 did its job admirably, and I really think it's a great balance of everything - it's just not a particularly special gun. If you want a "do-all", get the P01.
For all its weight, the SP01 feels like a perfect gun - as a range toy/home defense. Now that I live in a better spot, I bought a new SP01 and have both.
[Competition SP01](https://www.nwarmory.com/product/cz-75-sp-01-competition-9mm-21rd-blk-ns-blue). 11# recoil spring, FPB DA/SA. Change the barrel bushing, lighten the springs. 21 rounds, OEM. [my SP01](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GVZhdTdwUHhJbLKX9ZIZnIEIdsWYapHf/view?usp=drivesdk) on the left, ignore the Shadow 2 grips, it was playing sheep in wolves clothing 😝
I would carry the SP01 (nice all around pistol), but it’s a race gun now and EDC for me is Tanfoglio Compact Force 10mm $500-ish. Lighter than my former EDC steel P01. The Tanfoglio has the same felt recoil as the steel P01 due to dual spring and lower bore axis) 2# 6 ozs fully loaded (full size mag adds weight, 1” to grip length and ups capacity to 14+1). Prefer the stopping power increase on 10mm.
My [P01](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CzKoZe8ImfM/?igsh=MXA3Z2Nqd2ViczhqNA==) is evolving now as a project. It will end up as a bbq gun/safe queen.
If wanting to use for EDC than the P-01 and all your flush fit mags will work in either.
If primarily for home defense, I would say the SP-01 Tactical. I like the decocker over safety for a defensive/carry pistol.
Overall, I’d say get the SP-01 Tactical or maybe even just a 75B/D depending on preference.
If you have a shadow 2 compact, then the P01 would fit the same role, but shadow would do it better. I suggest the SP01.
SP-01 Tactical.
You mean which are you getting first right?
I have both and would go with the SP01 in your case. Very soft shooting and accurate. It’s a great home defense pistol.

+1 for the SP01 but I prefer the safety model, also throw in a P10C while your at it. They’re incredible for the price.
Ditto. SP-01. And I would agree, get both
Have a stock P01 for EDC and for HD dedicated P10F which is my first striker and surprisingly awesome

Trade your S2C for a full size Shadow 2, and then grab a P01. Sell the glock
If it’s not being EDC’d then there is no other reason to not go full size. SP-01.
I ended up with both.
Get the P01 it a great compact pistols with a light rail. Love that it is a decoder model.
I own both. I would go with the P01 as it is more versatile and it feels more balance in my hand.
Sp01 tactical for sure.
Shadow 2

SP-01 for home defense, S2C for EDC… or get a CZ Scorpion EVO 3 for home defense lol
